The anwser is simple.

We force Peta under strict observation to kill and process all the animals we eat....
That way they can't sabotage the food, or claim the animals died or were treated baddly.

He should have gone for toad meat, they're considered pests in Australia and killing them is not frowned apon. Infact it is toad hunting season in a few weeks. (we just kill them not eat them BTW)

There's nothing particularly wrong with that, but TV chefs are all cunts anyway so who cares?

Hell anywthing could beat scubbo, especially the version where its made entirely from spit.
And dont challenge a terry Pratchett reference on this site, most people here read it.
And thats one of the reasons i love this site. people get my quotes.

RSPCA should be stripped of their royal approval and be forced to keep the title SPCA so when people ask "Why are you not RSPCA?" They'd have to say "Because were were such asshats even the Queen would not stand for it anymore"

they don't, the live insects aren't animals, they're insects.
Nope, insects ARE animals. Don't think animals are limited to something as arbitrary as "they bleed red blood".

They are in the Ecdysozoa group of the protozoa clade of animals.

A better rule of thumb is if they have a nervous system then they are animals... all insects have extensive nervous systems and can feel pain.

Silly, insects don't count as animals.
OK, I've had two people tell me that insects aren't animals. I think you're joking, but I'm not sure. You do know insects are animals right?

QFT, seriously do they have to take a class in behaving like a twat before they're allowed on the air?

Yeah, I personally dislike a lot of TV chefs, for the simple reason that I don't think being able to make cheese on toast gives you the right to bully and abuse everyone who works for you. From what I've seen in my career, most places, calling someone an idiot nowadays is enough to get you pulled up for harrassment.

One of my favourite clips ever!

Apart from that tho, personally I'd have gone to the producer and said 'either we get some steak in here, or I'm going on a wildlife rampage to eat, enjoy the lawsuits.'

It's down to the TV company what makes the edit, even most 'live' stuff has a delay, because while if you went on a chat show and gutted the host with a machete, it'd be edgy TV, if you let slip something racist or sexist while you did it, there'd be angry mobs with pitchforks and torches outside the wrong TV station (because mobs are fucking idiots squared).

You're either killing animals for entertainment, which they've been doing with spiders, locusts, worms, etc for ages, but rats just about sneak into the 'furry' category, or you're not. For me, killing prey to eat, when you're trained to prepare and cook meat, isn't a problem, eating live animals, even insects is worse than that because it's purely for the entertainment factor.

Well I really can't say I'm surprised. Protesters nowadays will sue or whatever over anything.

Would they have preferred them to go hungry or become ill due to the crap they get to eat on that show? (I think I already know the answer to that...)

Hey, come on. When a man wants meat in his mouth he is going to find some way of getting meat in his mouth, whether he is in a jungle, neighbours dog kennel or a public toilet.

Let them eat cake... or rat... or rat-cake, worst of both worlds.

Is it just me, or does SMBC update at the most perfect times?

Second: He killed it for the sole purpose of eating it, and even if he did just for the hell of it, aren't rats considered, you know...vermin?

Anyways, I'm going to go get some venison pepperoni fridge, because I was higher on the food chain then the deer I got it from *nom*.

Stupid. It's still less stupid than the guy that got ridiculous sums of money for climbing his neighbors fence, shooting his dog with a pellet gun, and then approaching it's chain to have his face bit.

They will never win the case, it is too ridiculous and he's not breaking any laws. Ray Mears and Bear Grylls do that all the time. It's stupid that they think they even have a case.
This. I'm pretty sure the only reason they even bothered suing them is because Bear Grylls and Les Stroud are far too popular to even have half a chance.

This is terrible, he ate it. I guess we better rewatch what TV has been shown to sue anyone eating a burger or pork etc for cruelty to animals. Because that was for entertainment right? Humans are animals, animals need to eat.

I'm actually really impressed that a chef, of all people, a rich one in fact, actually hunted down and killed a rat and then fed it to people.

That's some crazy shit, I gotta say. He's hardcore.
