after reading this,
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/28/blackberry-playbook-vs-ipad-vs-galaxy-tab-vs-streak-the-tale/
I have been thinking a bit about the tablet war that has just started thanks to the piad and the ipad/apple zombie slaves making it seem like its selling well. What is your opinion on the war itself and what do you support?

I am personally a fan of the blackberry tablet myself.

I know about that. I have an old tablet laying somewhere around my house running windows 2000. Apple just "reinvented" them and made them seem like a much more interesting platform. Also this "war" was started by apple, so their slaves bought it which gave other companies ideas. Apple has no original ideas, just ideas that are made simpler for the non tech expert.

I'm very against Apple- mostly because all the technology they make has stupid names ( Ipod, Ipad, what next? Iped? super scooter that plays music?) But im quite intrigued by the tablet- although i'll likely buy one from a different corporate media giant, it looks like a good way to write notes on the fly.

I fail to grasp why anyone would want a laptop where it's easier to scratch the screen and much more difficult to interact with (I FUCKING HATE TOUCH SCREENS. They do not work consistently and precisely. End of.)

If tablet computers are the future then I am worried.

They are not the future. not by a long shot. I predict they are just one of the big "fads" right now and are going the way of 3d; they are big now, but wait about 10 years and they will be in discount bins and something else will be much bigger.

It's just a silly fad the electronics business is going through right now. It'll be over in a few years.

Actually writing notes on a tablet is really easy.

Just like laptops were thought to be a fad also, lets go back even farther when the desktop was a fad or consoles were a fad, the sales numbers indicated that this is not a fad but a new niche computer market that is doing really fucking well.

you do have a small point. It will probably end up replacing netbooks if that is the case due to being around the same price and having access to more, but they are still not a "portable computer replacement" by a long shot.

How exactly do tablets have "access to more" than netbooks? They have access to less! It's like the difference between a smartphone and a laptop, and then saying that the smartphone has more because it can make calls and has "apps."
What don't they have access to? I have a Ipad i got for fathers day and so far it does everything I have ever needed it to do including all the shit people say it cannot do including flash.

netbooks are more restricted due to what they are made for. Tablets can do that, and more. I support tablets, but I will never give up my gaming laptop. NEVER!

Never give it up but a good tablet that fits you is a great thing to complement your computer needs. They are not for everyone but thats why we have netbooks and smartphones also.

And what are netbooks "made for?"

Have you seen any of the newer netbooks? They're capable of playing Call of Duty 4!
Link pls that would be really damn nice to have for trips.

They aren't cost effective. They are a couple hundred for the lowest cost ones, mind you thats about as much as these tablets are costing, and can really only surf the net. A netbook capable of playing cod4 would usually go for 7-800$ which is enough to get a stronger laptop for. The medium of netbooks is just not practical anymore.

Programming environments. I can run Eclipse, MySql, Tomcat Server and about a hundred other development tools on my netbook, no chance on a tablet.

you got me there, but most people don't buy netbooks for programming. Most people buy it for portability and internet usage.
