Don't get me wrong here, I hate Facebook, and it pisses me off that I pretty much have to have one to keep in contact with some people. It's nothing but a constant annoyance as I receive friend requests from people I hardly know, invites to games so stupid and pointless that I have a difficult time comprehending, and opportunities for friendly acquaintances to embarrass me by tagging me in an inappropriate picture. Not that I'm actually in any of these compromising photos by the way, but for whatever reason people are allowed to tag you in any damn photo they want.
To restate my point, I hate Facebook.
That said, this video just sounds like scare tactics. It's the same kind of moronic fear mongering that these kinds of groups have always used to discourage behaviors they don't understand. It's not an appeal to reason, it's an attempt to manipulate with fear. Are there risks involved in putting your information on Facebook? Absolutely. There are also risks involved in eating at a restaurant, sitting too long on a couch, or even putting a shoe on. Food poisoning, heart disease, and poisonous spiders.
Life is full of danger, and no matter what you do you're never going to be safe. If you waste all your time running away from things, you never get the chance to appreciate them. And you know what? There have always been stalkers and creeps. Facebook didn't change that, it just changed how they went about their business.
There are lots of legitimate reasons not to waste your time on Facebook. Fear of predators is not one of them.
