It's fake, very, very, fake. Read the signatures, half of them are Skyrim references. It was made by a bunch of moron trolls from a site called christwire.

PS- I only felt like informing you of this because you seemed especially upset.

Trolling. Definetly trolling.
This is the same program that asked the Government to come clean about alien contact. In a country that still believes the only way a tower hit by a plane can fall is a thermite-based controlled demolition.

It's really not that much of a stretch to get to "burn all copies of SkyRim!"

I bet Notch has something to do with this... always ripping off Blizzard's work ^-^

How long till this becomes an Onion News Update?
If Notch was behind it, the self-congratulation would be all over the place, ruining it.

Via Eurogamer [http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-25-man-petitions-obama-to-destroy-all-copies-of-skyrim], this:
https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions/!/petition/immediately-ban-deadly-videogame-known-skyrim-safety-americas-youths/YmY1bLQ5

Immediately Ban the Deadly Videogame Known as "SkyRim" for The Safety of America's Youths.
Whereas videogaming has proven to cause social, ethical and health problems in people of all ages,

Whereas sexual perversion and homosexuality are threatening to destroy the Christian foundations on which this nation was built,

Whereas a new video game has just been created that far exceeds any others in the psychological and spiritual damage it does to teens,

We, the American people, today ask you,

1) To enact an immediate ban on the videogame known as "SkyRim" produced by Blizzard Entertainment.

2) To seize and destroy all copies already in public hands and erase its presence on the internet.

3) To prosecute the players of "SkyRim" to the fullest extent of the law.

4) To create a national database of videogame avatars and "screen names" so that teenagers can be better monitored.
Considering that they don't know where to put capital letters, who developed the game, and the fact that no one has screen names in Skyrim I doubt they know anything about the game and would have a hard time banning it.

Yeah, and I've never seen a legit petition signed with trolled signatures.

...Or participated in such.

I love how a dissection of a statement on an intellectual level comes across as "upset."

Christwire was behind it. http://christwire.org/2011/11/urgent-sign-the-white-house-ban-on-the-dangerous-video-game-skyrim/

I think they might be on to something, though. After sinking 100+ hours into SkyRim, I've found myself participating in many homogay orgies and praying to my Alduin statue, which rests on top of a shattered and charred cross. (Homogay is seriously my new favorite word.)

Wow, those idiot trolls at christwire need to seriously grow up. And if they weren't the ones that made this, whatever trolls that did make this after reading their article need to grow up. This isn't funny, this is misinformation for laughs. I have no doubt that somewhere out there someone is never going to play Skyrim because these morons trolled their brains out about it. I feel like hating them and I haven't even read their horrible article. Seriously, grow the fuck up.
If someone isn't capable of making decisions about Skyrim that aren't based on the obvious joke of a derange petition full of factual errors and deranged wording, then, well... I don't want to generalise, but anyone who takes this seriously and doesn't play a game as a consequence either never would have been interested in it to begin with, or would be incapable of completing the first quest.
People can be gullible. Look at how many people on this very page believed this was a "real" petition (yes it is technically real, but I think you know what I mean). Someone will believe this. Someone will actually listen to the bullshit these morons spew. It isn't funny, it is just arrogant and rude. These guys and landoverbaptist are far worse than the most misinformative of cable news channels, only they know that they are wrong. They want people to believe their bullshit, not so that they can further their political agendas, but to make fun of people. What they do is wrong, period. Read some of the racist bullshit they post. Sure, its fake, but someone will believe it, and that is what these guys want. They want other people to believe this so they can insult and berate them. And sometimes they'll never get the chance to do that to the people they misinform. So those poor saps will go on believing Mexicans are poisoning their water, or that they should beat their children with a tire iron whenever they break plates, or whatever other bullshit these trolls post, and having made even one monster like that out there in the world isn't worth any amount of "lulz."

In short-Trolling is bad. That is why on this site they are banned. Get a clue. Grow up. And fuck your "lulz."

PS- I understand that you may not be the kind of person who supports trolling, but I am very angry right now.

Then I guess you weren't upset. Sorry, I apologize for assuming that. I just am quite angry myself right now, but not for the same reason as you seemed to be. I am angry at the trolls that made this. Once again, I apologize.

I know that, I just can't rule out the possibility that they could cause somebody else to be hurt in a very real way, certainly not in a prosecutable way, but still, a real way. And that freaking terrifies and enrages me at the same time. But you're right, It's just a troll, I should probably just relax.

See, this is why Christwire needs to knock it off. Ever since WBC, it's hard to tell when somebody writes an essay with an extremely fundamentalist bias in a satirical, tongue in cheek manner, people will enact poes law and take it seriously.

Have you looked at some of the other petitions on there? the ones that are ostensibly real?

It's not gullibility to buy that this could be a real petition because people are legitimately petitioning for stupid things. Not just on whitehouse.gov, either. It's not gullibility, the bar is really that low. One of the only petitions to make it to the requisite signatures was one asking the Government to come clean about aliens.

...Like our masters would allow that....Oh no, i've said too much.

I can't see that happening here. In other cases, I'd be with you, but here? I'm not sure how this is going to lead there. Potentially or otherwise.
