Lately I have been hearing my co-workers talk about skipping school and work when the new world of Warcraft expansion comes out, they also mentioned that this is very common among World of Warcraft players.
Does any one here ever skip school or work for World of Warcraft.

I put in for a three day weekend when WotLK came out.

Actually skipping classes and cutting work though? That's kinda silly to risk your job and grades over a video game.

Luckily, I was off school when WotLK came out. So no, I have not. I probably won't when Cataclysm comes out either.

I know plenty of people that did just that both when TBC and WOTLK came out, and it seems just as silly as ever that people are going to do it when cataclysm is released. Then again I always played WoW pretty casually, and have all but quit recently after realizing what greedy, exploitative bastards Blizzard have become.

"Pay us $15 for your account not to get hacked" my ass.

Guy in my Uni course doesnt leave his room. He is failing first year as i type... WoW dominates his life.

(the only way you can fail first year is to not turn up. He could hand in unfinish crap and still get through.)

I wouldn't say its the norm, but it is definitally common enough. I have never skipped any of my responsiblities to play wow, but a lot of higher ups in my guild do so I am not that shocked to hear about it.

Had my wotlk waiting at home when I got home from school. Installed it, then had to go do a damn parents' evening! Shame I couldn't have skipped the evening... it wasn't all that useful. :p

It's not just World of Warcraft people skip classes/jobs for, although I'm going to make a point of playing on the expansion release because having loads of people in the same starting areas is going to be awesome.

Having loads of people in the same starting areas is going to be a nightmare. I learned this back in Burning Crusade and Lich King. I'd just hit 58 when TBC came out, and me and my friend ventured through the Dark Portal to find the entire area was a massive tag fest, you litterally had 30 to 40 people clambering after a single mob.

That sounds fun to be a part of, and I'm planning on just running dungeons and finding groups instantly.

I dont get how people cant put this ahead of tehir actual life. They could lose their job and end up living with their parents at the age of 40. How does this not scare them?

Taking a three day weekend. I took the same for Wrath of the Lich King, Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan, Champions Online and Borderlands.

Luckily, I have Friday off this year, at least until June :)
