Figures that they would use something like a game controller because they've already used cell phones and clocks to detonate bombs they needed to up there game somehow.

I'd love to a manual for how they rigged this controller up...

"Press 'X' to detonate bomb."

"Press 'Left Directional Pad' to call in Predator missile."

Also, I wonder how Taliban handle backseat gaming...?

"FUCK OFF, OMAR!! GO PLAY WITH THE RPG-7 WHILE YOU WAIT FOR MY TURN TO END!"

So what. Anything that has a button that can be set to an electrical pulse can be used as a detonator.
Yeah, its not exactly hard to make a bomb detonator, or a bomb for that instance, whether it be a gas, concussion, shrapnel, incendiary or nuclear, all you need is a few materials and a step list. (Nuclear only being hard to make because of it's elusive materials)

I can't come up with a "press X to not die" joke right now. But someone should.
Press X to make the world safe for theocracy/ get 72 virgins in paradise?

I kid, I kid.

Anyhow, making a joke about the dogmatic nature of console fanboys - or any fanboys - is almost too obvious, so I'll just make a snide, smug, self-serving comment about the clear superiority of PC games.

That would make for one hell of a quick time event.

In all seriousness though, this is just another reminder of how smart these guys are. This is why they are so dangerous, and why they can't be left alone. IF they can do serious damage with junk like that, they are uber dangerous when they get their paws on something stronger.

Exactly. I saw an ADVERT for the British military with them using an Xbox controller to move a flying spy camera. This is nothing out of the ordinary.

Nuclear is hard because of the purification process needed to actually have weapons grade material, not so much because of 'elusive materials'. Not that the stuff is extremely common or anything, but it's the refinement that's a *****.

Err, excuse me people: FOX News?!?!?

Who wants to bet they just found a bit of junk that ANYONE who once lived in that building used for gaming and then discarded when broken, but some sensationalist journalist just decides to make up some shit about "WHOOOA Dis iz a BOMB component!!!1!", maybe goading some Army Officer to confirm it in favour of good coverage.

I mean a games controller is for many very complex inputs and uses small fiddly connectors which would make it pretty poor for the job of closing as circuit to detonate a bomb that has been built in some shack.

I smell the smelly smell of bullshit.

Wouldn't an Al Qaeda video game go:

"You Died... congratulations, you won the game!"

Ha ha, it's funny cause it's true, plus there's a minigame in the after life. Based on how well your bomb did, you get to enjoy so many virgins.

This has always annoyed me. Some people would push to ban fertilizer if you told them it could be used to make a bomb.
