Man getting tattoos is painful enough, removing them. Oww. I'm quite happy in keeping them and 30 years from now, I'll still be rocking them... to the day I die.

Tribal that covers my upper right arm, from the shoulder down to the elbow and goes down my back. It's still being worked on and will cover the right side of my chest as well when it's done.

Liverpool crest on my left shoulder.

Eagle on my right forearm.

Tribal on my left forearm.

Para wings on my left shoulder blade.
I spoke to an Aussie Para at recruiting. He reckons it's not all that great, not the glamorous free fall drops people expect. Mostly fixed, jumping with the 'chute already open, hitting the ground at about 4.5 m/s like the shit they did in WWII.

Is that the case in the UK. I plan on moving to the UK in a decade or so, and I am considering joining the British forces or transferring from the ADF if that's possible and my misses isn't against it.

I like the idea of paras very much, but I also like being able to walk. The guy at recruiting pretty much said it's one or the other, no one walks away from the paras.

I have a big one and a little one. Little one was my first and is a simple leaf pattern design on my left shoulder blade, but I don't have a picture. The bigger one was my second from the Dark Crystal.

I also want to get a nomad moogle, have wanted to for some time now, but have to find the money to do it and since tattoos aren't a priority spending item for me... it's been on hold.

Got the Hydra logo on my upper arm, the picture is photo-shopped by the way, in real life I'm much more muscular.

I've got three, but am in the process of removing two of them due to some problems with the colored ink and my skin that never went away after ten years and HOLY SHIT DOES THAT HURT.
Sour about that those tattoos. I give you a portion of my strength! I hope it is enough.

OT: I wanna get a straight edge cross somewhere. Maybe with a pair of hands, or maybe on my hand. I'm not sure. Something like this, but on the upper side of the webbing between my thumb and index finger, most likely.

I want to get something inspired by H.R.Giger's artwork. It'll either be one of his biomechanical pieces, or something I've done in his style. If it's something I do, it'll be an ouroboros or an x-ray style tattoo.

I got a kanji tattoo that says "Blood Angel" because it was the name of my WoW guild (Blood Angels) who helped me out through a particularly rough time in my life and kept me laughing instead of depressed.

My next tattoo will be of a blue rose.

I don't have one, and probably won't get one, but I do think about what I'd get. I think I'd go for small 'icons' representing the things I like (Mario's hat, Batman symbol, Lego brick etc.).

I also thought it'd look incredible to have the Shadow of the Colossus 'weak point' sigil done in that black-light ink so it'd show up under UV lights and glow similar to how they do in the game. I think it'd work especially well on my forehead. That said, I can't see the explanation of it wowing many of the opposite sex:

Girl: "Wow, nice tattoo! What is it?"

Me: "Oh, it's from a game, it's the mark you find on giant monsters that shows their weak spots and- wait, where are you going?"

This is an amazing idea. Would not put it on my forehead aha, but a small one somewhere would be great.

*brofist*

That one was one I considered at one point. Maybe I'll just get a small maple leaf on my ankle...

I got Jin Kazama's tattoo (Tekken fame) many years ago (97?) when I was big in the arcade tournaments... probably got a pic around here if anyone cares... which I doubt. In a mild defense I have been an avid martial artist since I was 6 (in my 30's now)...

Fun Fact:

Met my wife in an arcade... she fed the machine, looked up at me and said "You have Jin's Tattoo?!" Many years of happy marriage since then...

Oh we have free fall drops. Whether you can class them as fun or not is another matter. Knowing you have a 25 mile tab when you hit the ground takes away the joy.

I will tell you that the training is tough. Unlike regular infantry the Para's are specialised and training is on par with Royal Marines (who, after joining the Para's, will become your regular sparring buddies. Long standing rivalry with the Para's and Marines, mostly it's good fun and banter like I have with a couple of Marines here but a lot of times it ends in a brawl).

But you can walk away after serving how ever many years you sign up for.

It was 1996 when I joined up and 3 years was the minimum, don't know if it's changed, but you are free to leave then or sign up for longer.

All in all I did 12 years and don't regret staying, in fact it was the best time of my life .... apart from being stabbed in the thigh, that hurt .... or landing in barbed wire after diving over a wall before looking, that hurt too, and made a mess of my left arm (I don't advise diving into barbed wire so kiddies, please don't try that at home .... although if you have barbed wire in your home you have bigger things to worry about I think).

I wouldn't call it "glamorous", it's hard work and you get sent to some shitty places (and some really cold ones) but it's a good life and I met some fantastic people.

Yeah, I was aware of the rivalry between paras and marines.

I've also done the barbed wire thing. I sprinted into a barbed wire fence one night as I couldn't see it. Luckily I managed to find a fence which was only 3 wires not a spiral of wire. Although because it tripped me, I did get tangled in it; so pulling the barbs out of my hand and leg sucked because it snapped back to it's original position once my flesh wasn't holding it still, meaning they generally tore them selves out once one or two barbs were out.

None yet; I want one, but I have no clue what I should get. I was considering a tribal gecko design (I like geckos, how could you tell?) but that seems too generic, I considered all the variations of mario shrooms but those seem overdone, I've considered some symbols from Zelda but they're also sort of overdone..... I'm too indecisive to choose something that will be on my body for the rest of my life.

I think I might get this though

placed in a triangle on my right bicep in red green and blue.

Only one I have. It actually needs some touching up, this picture was taken like 8 hours after I got it.

I really want to get more of them, just don't know what. I have debated the SofC weak point symbol. Still not sure though.

I'm getting this on my upper left arm (so far, only the lines/outlines are done, colouring soon to follow):

I have one tattoo planned right now, and a bunch of ideas for the end of the year or next year. The problem I have is that everyone keeps saying that you should wait so you feel that you'll always love it. And that's true to an extent. But even I know that I won't feel the same about my tattoos in ten years or so. But they will serve as memories. I want tattoos that remind me of the different times of my life and what I'd like to remember forever.

The first tattoo I'm planning is a band tattoo, which I know is one of the more risky tattoos. But I'm not getting it simply for the band. I'll have lyrics along with a logo, and the lyrics for me are breathtaking. Also, the music itself has helped me in several ways and is a reminder of some of my closest friends.

The others I'm just thinking about are gaming tattoos. Right now I have two in focus. The first is the Final Fantasy VII comet on my chest, simply because that game was a massive part of my childhood and I've never stopped loving it in it's entirety.

The other one is the Crono sprite from Chrono Trigger on my shoulder, for the same reasons as the one above.

Also, tattoos look beautiful. I love the idea of having art on your own body, like a living canvas.
