all i can say is that looking at the stats of that gun, NO-ONE who has it will use the old Shotty.

at least up until VALVe inevitably nerf it after a load of whiners complain its "OVERPOWERD" and "UNFAIR"

I will. The Frontier Justice only benefits an Engineer who is building quick, level 1 sentries (in other words, a battle Engineer). For them it's a great bonus. Most Engineers build sentries to last though, upgrading them to level 3 in order to hold certain areas of the map. I don't see how this gun will really benefit them since their sentries won't be destroyed nearly as often.

I'm going to use it all the time as a battle Engineer, but whenever I need to hold an area of the map I'm gonna use the normal shotgun.

maybe, but say that a group of people come to storm your base, and you have this, then you can use your stored crits and your sentry to fend off the attackers, so it can be useful in both ways of playing Engy.

If the attacking force is large enough to wipe out your sentry, your dead if you try to attack them no matter how many crits you have. You still only have 125 HP. Almost anything can kill you instantly. Even assuming all 3 shots hit, you're still likely to get killed. It would certainly help a bit, but I just don't see it being more useful than the normal shotgun in the longterm.

Just a note: building level 3 sentries is shooting yourself in the foot. Any competent Pyro will reflect the rockets back at a sentry and kill it. Build it to level 2.
That is completley and utterly wrong. Pyros almost never reflect the rockets since they are being shot at whilst attempting to do so. They can't reflect rockets fast enough to destroy the sentry before they get killed by the bullets, unless they are ubered in which case they could easily flame the sentry to death anyways.

Naw.
You only get crits if your sentry kills or assists. So you want it to receive the most kills. Then if say a spy saps and destroys it and skittles away, you can shoot him with the gun and he will die from the crits (if your sentry got assists/kills).

Now, the more of those it has, the more crits you get. I'm quite happy with the whole idea.
The clip is 50%, but does it still hold the same amount of bullets overall?

yeah, i guess you're right.

i still think it might be a useful in both situations though, since a defending Engy will get a lot of kills, and therefore, spare crits.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm saving my dupes for the upcoming Polycount items. The odds of getting a Golden Wrench are astronomically small as is, and I'd rather get items that actually affect gameplay rather than purely cosmetic ones.

AHMAGAD! I never play engineer, mostly because... Their for wimps. I am a spy. Engineer is my prey.

But that new gun... What an awesome concept. Do you wanna keep the sentry around, or destroy it to unleash some "Frontier justice". :D

But it might be overpowered if it does a lot of dmg without crit. I'm waiting to see what the sentry replacement will be. Along with the sentry destruction thing, maybe this is some kind of SUPER sentry you don't want to destroy. An interesting balancing act.

I might have a second of moral dilemma before I sap it to oblivion!

FRIGGIN' FINALLY!

Seriously, we've been waiting for this since, what March? But at last it's here. Glad I still have some duplicate weapons to craft for a golden wrench.. I know my chances are small, but it'll still be fun trying.

Don't forget it also gives two crits for every sentry kill, and one for every sentry assist. So as long as your sentry has a good spot you could probably get 4-8 crits in addition to the ones you get when they blow it up.

You only get crits once it gets blow up though.

I like it, it really seems to encourage a ninjaneering, battle engie style. A quick level 1 will be a lot more deadly if it comes with free crits when destroyed...

Ah, I misread it. I thought the crits for kills and the crits for losing a sentry were separate.

Everyone get to crafting the more people find gold wrenches the quicker the updates are released, and I want to find out the other unlocks.
