Wuh? Wuh? WHA? It looks cartoony to give it a certain aesthetic, (always looking nice is a bonux but whatever), which fits with the theme of the "story" and characters contained within, also in case you hadn't noticed because the characters are whacky and the environment is silly and most of the weapons are silly, cartoony really does work. Excuse me while I go make a live action version of loony toons.ryai458 said:So they made it look cartoony so that it would look cartoony later that way they don't have to make a new game because cartoons characters don't need to be hi-res? As far as Dedicated servers go I personally feel they are chaotic and immature.Katana314 said:Pretty much the opposite. The team invented their own cel-shading graphics algorithms that take each character through about 5 different methods of lighting. They do this specifically so that everyone is distinctly visible and recognizable even at range or low lighting, AND so that they don't look comparatively "low-res" after the game has been out for several years.ryai458 said:Yes I can, first off I do not own this game and have never played it, but from what I have seen it look smooth and simplistic as if they where concentrating on gameplay more than graphics. Gameplay is obviously more imprtant than graphics and they decided to go with a cartoony look which is fine, I personally like my game to look good and play good.
FYI: I don't know how old TF2 is so maybe it was great back in the day.
Another thing I want to offer up is this being the very last good game for Dedicated Servers. MW and BC both have company-managed servers (even if BC2's are "rented out") whereas TF2 I could set something up on my desktop while I'm away if I wanted. It really is the best way of forming a community or having a mod.
Ever play a game where everyone gets a random weapon? The lucky ones play as a Scout with a rocket launcher.
Also I fail to understand how something with Admins, control and the ability to kick and ban people at will is more immature than an unregulated environment.
Besides, there's no need to make another game, they can easily patch any changes they wish to make, and update the engine if they really feel the need, but they dont need to, lots and lots of people still play it and it's still a massively successful and popular game. Why should they need to make another game, if it still looks nice, the mechanics are in date and don't need drastically updating to the point where they need a new game there's no point in needing a new game.
