It's my experience that you get those in every Xbox multiplayer which is why i tend to avoid the mic. With Steam, people just wanna get on with the game, with the exception of a few who want to accuse you of hacking just because you killed them....seriously???

I got the PC version of TF2 and found it difficult to begin with, but now i'm adequate at the game (IE I actually get a couple of kills before i'm slaughtered) it's pretty fun.

It's not just you, Original Poster, it's not just you.

I've played TF2 on the PC, and it's just as terrible, but with a slightly more tolerable community. The game gets babied by Valve while all it's other 'children' besides Half Life get relatively ignored, getting constant updates that completely unbalance classes and make all the others whine and b*tch until a new update comes out to re-balanace it. More whining ensues, and the cycle just keeps repeating itself.

But gameplay wise...no matter how large the fanbase is, or what their age group is, the game (like all others) just isn't for everyone, and that includes myself. I really don't like playing it, and I've only just recently considered trying it out again since a new Engineer update came out. Otherwise? ...yeah, I'll pass. The only thing I think I genuinely like about that game is the characters. The personalities they've developed for them all, and the 'Meet the (insert character here)' videos are some of the funniest I've ever seen.

Am I doing it wrong? Have I missed something? Or is this genuinely a terrible game? I realise that the PC version has more support from Valve... but can the 360 version be so different? I'm not sure what my enquiry is with this post... but someone please explain - I'm feeling somewhat bewildered and perplexed!!
Yes, the PC version (and by extension the Mac version) are a million times better than the console versions.
Valve never updated the game on the consoles so it suffers from tons of bugs.

Well, there are many reasons you don't love it. Could be the community, it's performance on your computer, or more then likely, you just don't like it. There's no such thing as a universally loved game, and no game is for everyone. I enjoy Team Fortress 2 when it decides to run well on my computer and the community feels like being nice, but it's far from "TEH BEZT GAEM EVAR".

That title is reserved for Barbie Horse Adventures 2004

But, you could try some of Valve's other games, Left 4 Dead I strongly recommend if you have 3 likeminded friends and like co-op.
Left 4 Dead is good fun, no doubt. It's not that I dislike TF2 I just feel that I must be missing something. PC runs it, people seem nice enough and it's an adequate game, just...why is it so highly spoken of? For what it's worth, I have similar felings towards HL2, though people tend to assume I'm trolling when I say it :(

Also, don't hide your love of the Barbie games, embrace and cherish it!
Well, to be quite honest with you I was rather bored with TF2 until I unlocked my first weapon. I know that sounds dumb as hell but it's true. Now I love it, unlocking stuff constantly. Just recently got the hang of Jarate and the Huntsman.

And fuck those people. There's a difference between offering your opinion and trolling. Not even the universally acclaimed Half Life or even World of Warcraft is a great game in everyone's eyes. You play what you like, and fuck everyone else. If anything, I seem to like games that people regularly shoot down. I play Aliens vs Predator and Killing Floor on a regular basis, although the review scores for either game are certainly sub par.

Just play what feels fun to you, an' hope the community is similarly minded.

Here's one question, who the hell cares if you don't like TF2, this is the internet, no opinion really matters here! (NOT EVEN MINE!)

In addition to getting the wrong version, you've fallen into the hype trap -- namely, any game with this much hype can't possibly live up to it. I found it bland when I tried the last free weekend, but after picking it up during the fourth of July sale, I started to see just why it was so hyped. Basically, there's nothing immediately impressive about it; it's just a nearly perfectly balanced platform on which a player can improve almost indefinitely. To really get it, the player needs to invest the time to improve -- and even then, it's very much a bread and butter game; it's just gourmet bread and fresh-churned butter. In essence, TF2 is one of the best multi-player experiences I've ever had the privilege to enjoy, but it's so good because it's so solid; this is a game that is amazing not because it immediately wows the player, but because it's so rewarding for long-term play.

TF2 Xbox360 vs. PC, PC wins every time, personally I'd play the PC version but my computer can't handle it (Too much lag), the main reason that valve hasn't released any DLC for the Xbox version is the fact that Microsoft won't let them release free DLC, so they won't release any at all (Which is honestly, a bit retarded in my opinion, like refusing to eat ever again because they won't pay you to have steak).
Fix analogy a bit because Valve would be getting money out of release the updates as payable DLC even though it is not worth paying for like most DLC. Most DLC is a crock. The whole DLC might be worth paying for but not the little bits at say a fiver each which is what they would go for as DLC which is scandalous.
IF they released all the patches and content on the PC version, I'd pay half again the cost of the actual disk that's how much content we're talking here!

Evidently you have discovered that PC TF2 > Xbox/PS3 TF2. I loved TF2 on my pc so much. I have orange box on xbox too. TF2 on that is tripe on a bike compared to the bitching pc version

You might not like it, but calling it the worst game ever is pretty fucking stupid considering things like ET or Superman 64.

incorrect, user ThatJagoGuy, the worst game ever is E.T. for the atari 2600.

Actually there's one game worse than that. Big Rigs Racing.

The problem is that the console versions don't get the updates that the PC version gets. The PC version gets updated automatically through Steam while no changes has been done to the console versions.

the biggest problem i had with the console version was the lack of updates. I would get TF 2 for my pc if my pc was remotely good, but it isnt.

Please, buy and try it for the PC or Mac. Yes, TF2 is on the Xbox 360, but it is far from the TF2 that you get from Steam. New Weapons, Maps, hats, objectives, achievements and a large abundance of players. Think of everything on the Xbox version times 500.
