How about businesses stop being idiots and put INSTANT HAND SANITIZER in bathrooms instead of soap!! The big reason no one washes their hands in the bathroom is that it takes too long to wash and dry your hands. There would be be no excuse not to wash your hands, you dont need to dry them! Heck, mount it on the back of the door so you get some on your way out!
It would save water, since the sink would be used far less.
It would save paper, and saving paper saves trees and energy.
It would save electricity from the hand dryers, and that lowers the amount of fossil fuels and natural resources used to provide the electricity.

Put some Purell Hand Sanitizer in the bathrooms and...
YOU'D BE SAVING THE WORLD.

Think about it.

I want a robotic arm, a wrist comm, and jetpacks. Actual commercial ones, used for everyday travel.

Prescision laser-cutter things.

You know, like lightsabres, but in different shapes and sizes and whatnot for various applications; cooking, shaving, surgery, you name it.

Oh and, full-size lightsabres would be nice, too.

Cloning for transplants.

But you'd have to remove the organ of a patient, clone it and put it back in.

Or you could clone the entire person, kill the clone and extract the organ, but ones (technically) murder, the other has huge risks for living patients.

FTL drive and Battlestars.

I want there to be twelve colonies of man. After that we shall build a race of sentient robots to take care of us. We shall live happily ever after.

Nothing could go wrong with that plan!.
Exactly, nothing could ever go wrong with that plan!

I guess there was that show battlestar galactica... but the two are clearly unrelated, what're the odds.

One day, technology will be made. Hoverboards? Could do it. Regeneration? Eh, maybe. Invisibility? Psst, hell yeah. Virtual Reality? HA! Are you kidding me? You can buy one now, and that's just the first!

What technology needs to be made soon and quickly?

Hoverboards.

It is the only way I will represent Ireland in the Olympics.
I just popped in to say thank you for the laugh your thread title gave me ^^

On topic, teleporters, god dammit! *slams fist*

People are thinking big with this one. Here's something more useful day to day:

A device you stick on things, like iPods, cell phones, DS and DS games, ect. that lets you call a number on a specialized remote, causing the device to ring. Think about how few times you would lose your keys, if you could just page them like a phone.

Nanomachines in medicine. Got HIV? Cancer? Leukemia? Arthritis? Congenital Heart Failure? Some kind of antibiotic-resistant illness? Afraid your unborn child will become stricken with tay-sachs, cerebral palsy, autism, or down syndrome? Got a bad knee or back?

All you need is an injection of nano-machines that can physically kill bacteria and destroy viruses, correct chromosomal disorders, repair nerve and cardiovascular damage, and possibly even replace cartilage.

What if there would be some kind of machine which would heat your bread on both sides, or a small box which creates a 2-dimensional image of an exact moment, how awesome would that be :D

No, but seriously if I got to choose I would choose something to freeze time so you could do anything you want, you would be able to do soooooo many things, but I think it would be a problem if more than one person would use one of those... but technology will fix that some way.

I want an affordable touch screen TV, plasmids, pressure suits that can withstand both extremely high and extremely low pressures (i.e. scuba gear plus astronaut gear), rocket boots/jetpack, sentient Venus fly-traps via advanced splicing, laser beams that can vaporize instantaneously, a zero-point energy generator, teleportation devices, computerized glasses, the next-gen Microsoft console with at most a 3% failure rate, spaceships with FTL travel, devices that stimulate telekinetic ability, virtual realities that are convincing, more advanced AI for computers, bipedal robots that can run at respectable speeds, easy-to-use and affordable supercomputers with at least 1 TB RAM, vehicles that transform into ass-kicking 25-foot-tall robots, machines that work at greater than ideal capacity (i.e. input<output), lightsabers, stargates, time accelerators, and a female-to-male translation system.

Also, a plasma cutter, ala Dead Space.
Um wouldn't input<output break the second law of thermodynamics? Ah sod it just throw more moeny and robots at it it'll work soon.

Fucking room temperature superconductors. Everything that will be made from them will be awesome.
