Even though I've been ninja'd, can't think of the piratey version of that word, I still have my own design ideas on teleporters and interstellar travel. Of course, I have no knowledge of how to crack the mysteries of local planet to interstellar travel.

"The Portal Booth"

The device would look like a typical phone booth and act like a "Stargate". Whether you are traveling to a location on Earth or somewhere in the universe you just dial in the address of the home or dial to any city/state/other building locations you want to arrive at and the coordinates for whatever part of the universe you want to go to. The Portal Booth will be big enough for you to travel with any amount and number of luggage you want. They will be equipped with scanners so no one would be able to carry any seriously dangerous items unless they have permits or belong to the police or military.

That's the kind of portal/interstellar travel technology I want.
