People are thinking big with this one. Here's something more useful day to day:

A device you stick on things, like iPods, cell phones, DS and DS games, ect. that lets you call a number on a specialized remote, causing the device to ring. Think about how few times you would lose your keys, if you could just page them like a phone.

Yeah but what if you lost the remote? Think about it.

I would quite like some sort of case that lightens your load. Like the rucksacks that every character in every RPG ever has where they can carry 50 suits of full plate mail without sweating. Maybe they could put helium balloons in the lining or something.

In my view, the remote would be about the same size as a cell phone, so it would be something likely to fit easily in your pocket. Not a TV remote, either. It's sort of like a cell phone you use to dial the numbers you set to call the device.

It wouldn't be small enough to lose easily.

I meant FTL not as it's used in Mass Effect, but FTL in general, broad sense. As in, "a technology that will allow us to travel faster than 300.000 km/sec". The faster, the better.
