I never understood taking drugs, I don't judge people who do take them really but point being I just don't see the appeal. ...Especially when things like this happen.

Weed as I gather is supposed to be fine by all means, but anything past that and the science is there, it's just NOT GOOD FOR YOU.

Then again I'm drinking pepsi, that's not good for me either so I guess that deems me a hypocrite.

If the teen had been taking illegal drugs she might still be alive!
lots of so-called legal highs are far more dangerous, and more kids are taking them to try and avoid getting busted.
legalise, control, tax and educate... far better than prohibition.

on the other hand teen dies doing something dumb is hardly new.

and people say natural selection doens't exist, funny huh?

OT: I've seen people get a crazy high off of Ritalin, as in thinking the carpet to tile transition in their home was a thirty foot drop, though I took it regularly for epilepsy.

why does this matter? people react differently to all drugs, legal or otherwise.

hell, you can make an opium tea with just ingredients from a grocery store, and you can die from drinking it in excess, and its legal also............
If natural selection is taking place, it's creating a dumber, more sheepish population.

Someone whose very DNA keeps them from goin against the system are fucking retarded.

People have to experiment, try new things, bend rules.

Or we're all fucked.

Once again, another muppet tries drugs and is bitten in the ass.

At least now i know what this "bubble" is that people keep saying i should say no too.

Luckily for me, i have my own little phrase, Taken from a well known source.

So basically some idiot bought a shady drug off the internet because it had heroine-like effects and then everone's shocked and surprised because little Jimmy OD-ed on drugs he found on the internet. And now his friends are blaming it on the law since obviously it's the law's fault that his parents weren't smart enough to tell little Jimmy that doing drugs is bad and probably worse if you're buying suspicious ones off the internet regardless of what laws are or are not in place. I'm pretty damn sure that every High School requires health class and if this kid really did have "good grades" it seems like a concious albeit stupid choice he made.

I mean come on. The kid's a teenager doing drugs and looking for something with heroine like effects. I don't think he cares about the "law".

Wow, teen does [insert stupid action here] and suffered extreme consequences.
Also, if her only concern about drugs is if they're legal or not then she had it coming.

Yeah, and unforseen reactions occur to mairjuana as well. There's very little difference. Fine, the whole "it's safer" thing is bullshit, but I stick by my assertion that alcohol is a lot more fun than marijuana.
Being dehydrated and angry?
Yeah, totally fun.

Anyway, back to the topic, anything can kill almost anyone.

Booze is legal and it kills tonnes of people, no one's getting rid of that because all of "the elite" drink it, as do the politicals and other "high up people", not to mention that it's a taxed substance.

You could bet your sweet bippy that if marjuana became more profitable than alcohol, which it may just be right now, eventually, it would be legalised and taxed.
Well, I personally never get angry when I drink (nor do any of the people I know), and the whole dehydrated thing is easily avoided if one drinks enough water to balance the alcohol they consume. I really don't see the need for bitter sarcasm, considering the many positive effects alcohol can have if consumed responsibly in a safe environment.

It was just sarcasm, not bitter sarcasm.
I drink a lot myself, as the name might have told you.
But a lot of people don't drink in safe enviroments or even drink responsibly.

Not that I think I'm some kind of ultra-intelligent, fault-free superman who laughs at people for being "too stupid to know better".
But, well, some people don't give alcohol the respect it deserves, it's poison and that's why it alters your perceptions, yet some people think it's this drink you have until your throwing up and can't see, as if that were normal.

Its just sad really.Almost everybody at that age should know that drugs are deadly but they do it anyway.Sometimes to have fun, sometimes to just show off. That the drug is legal or not doesnt matter its still a drug. You should only take drugs if you really need them not to just get kicks or anything.

Hm, now that I think about it, the name should have given me a hint. But yes, I definitely agree with you. I think some people might have misinterpreted my previous comments, thinking I'm some sort of ultra pro-alcohol "get smashed every night" kind of person, which definitely isn't the case. I know so many people who simply drink for the sake of getting drunk, which I think is both stupid and irresponsible. I drink largely because I enjoy the taste of alcohol, as well as the "buzz" I get after I've had a few drinks. Alcohol definitely does deserve some sort of respect, but unfortunately there are plenty of idiots who have given it a very bad name.

Yes, because she is so smart for thinking a substitute isn't as bad as the real thing. One less idiot on the face of the Earth, good.

Are we ignoring the fact that the article linked to says very, very little about the cause of death, and cites The Daily Mail as a source? The report literally goes "he took mephedrone, and later died". It could've been an overdose, an allergic reaction, toxic impurities in the batch - or it could've been a brain haemorrhage after whacking his head off something, some other toxic substance he ingested, or anything. It's likely that it was due to this drug, but we don't actually know, because the article says nothing. Better sources, please.

And, again: Daily Mail. That's a hefty integrity penalty right there.

I don't get people who take drugs. They kill you!
Then again, I drink casually so I'm told I can't talk.

Drugs are bad, mmmkay? But I agree with Batsamaritan in that he would still be alive if he was 'experimenting' with the basic herb and not some fertilizer.

"meow meow", "drone" and "bubble"?
I love the nicknames that drugs are getting these days! Like "Pop rocks" and "spaghetti".

I mean, I grew up hearing about "grass", "love drug", "E", "meth"... where's the fun in those names? I guess "Mary Jane" was a good nickname though.

All drugs are not available in all areas all the time. New things are discovered or brought to a region of the world that didn't previously have it all the time. It's not illegal because the gubment is ignorant it's because a given controled substance isn't previlent enough to constitute attention sometimes. At least that's one reason. I swear people are so black and white about drug laws.

Seriously kids, just stick with alcohol. It tastes way better, it makes people a lot more fun, and the worst that'll happen (unless you're a complete dipshit and drink to the point of getting poisoned, in which case you deserved it) is you'll puke. Alcohol is a win win win.
Umm what about losing cognizence and getting raped? That seems to happen a lot.
Are you suggesting that people don't get raped while high? That's some pretty naive thinking.
What's that I hear? Is it a Straw Man on the horizon?

No, my statement is that worse things can happen to someone who is drunk than puking.

Though for the record, I don't drink, never have. I never have done any recreational drugs either. Unless you count caffiene. And I had to smoke cigarettes occasionally for my old job. I hated them so much though.
Was that too play bad cop in the interrogation room. I mean you can't be bad cop without cigarettes! Or was it to flick on a petrol line to burn the man who killed your family... Films depict police work so differently.
Sadly, it was [a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.175589-Teen-dies-after-taking-legal-party-drug?page=2#4986429]nothing that cool[/a].
