no more then ten minutes ago i was playing a match of halo 3, i'm in a free for all match on the pit (i think that's what it's called) and i'm walking around looking for people

without knowing it i walk in the room that holds the sword, i try to pick it up but can't it then disappears and thinking it was going to be like earlier, i walk off.

(the game was lagging and i tried to pick up an item, a few seconds later it appeared in my inventory so i thought it was going to be like that)

as soon as i get out of the room i fall over dead and try to look for my killer, no one it didn't even say anyone killed me

a second later someone with a sword appears around the other corner (not the one closest to me)

i quit, turn off my console, and am now complaing about it to the internet

(i wasn't angry but it was just stupid how laggy the match was, and it's late at night)

Starcraft Online Multiplayer.

My first tryst into the sewage runoff outlet of online gaming was a Starcraft Battle.net custom map designed by a friend. I had played through the campaigns and had barely scraped victory without acknowledging there was no cow level (inside joke) when the guys who had introduced me to the RTS genre invited me to play against them in their new map. They shall be continually mentioned but lovingly referred to as Jackass and Jerkass seeing how both their names started with J and I'm not sure if they visit this site and will know me by my name.

So anyway, Jackass gives me name of the channel he and Jerkass congregate in the late hours and they invite me into 'battlemapc' where I chose to play as the spunky but lovable zerg (both of those Asses played as protoss).

There I was exploring the map, setting up defenses, evolving my hives and pools when out of nowhere a hojillion of multicolored Protoss Carriers simultaneous swarm every area of revealed map and eliminate me in less than 30 seconds.

Jackass and Jerkass had teamed up to rape me, a tactic I quickly realized they utilized nightly against naive newbs and I being one of their best friends in real life was no exception. Upon this realization I told them both to go fuck themselves with power drills and ALT+F4'd out of there so fast it would have embarrassed France.

If either Jackass or Jerkass happen to read this, you know who you are, I reiterate my power tool buggery suggestion.

I was playing Spore (First mistake >.<) in my most advanced Space Stage game. I was getting really bored and decided to ally with the Grox. If you've done that before, you know that allying with the Grox puts you at war with every single other race in the galaxy.

But that isn't what brought the ragequit, I was expecting and enjoying that.

Anyways, I went back to my home area and started to destroy the many 5-Star empires that used to be my allies. With no real allies that I could ask for help from, this was somewhat difficult and took a LONG while.

So, by the end of the night, I had destroyed maybe 50 former allies and had a comfortable little section of the galaxy all to myself.

I was destroying the final city of the final empire of the night when the unthinkable happened.

Spore crashed, and I lost the entire day's progress.

/RAGEQUIT

I'm not touching that goddamn game again any time soon! :*(

gotta say one of the worst was in Final Fantasy 10.

194 lightning dodges when i had an anticipatory twitch that went too far and i dodged too early. i dropped the controller and was silent like half an hour before i screamed my lungs hoarse.

Final Fantasy XII: Elder Wyrm.

I managed to get myself into the mind-fuckery of actually encountering this bastard. Then, as you do, tried to defeat it. My skills however were far too low, and the grinding took forever. I must have tried that boss 100+ times, and I haven't beaten it since. I've Rage-Quit'd that many-a-time.

Dragonball Z: Budokai 2

Adept Tournement mode, yes I suck. I've lost so many times that i've nearly destroyed my controller. I think it's Adept anyway...the hardest difficulty. The loss-noise was even more irrtating. Like the original 'Sonic The Hedgehog' game-over jingle, only not as comical.

Persona 3

I was doing amazing in Tartarus. My party gained many levels and I had full health, let me repeat, Full Health. Then 3 ice magic using enemies attack me. I usually kill these enemies easily, but the persona I equipped was weak against ice and they had the advantage (they get the first turn). They all use their ice attacks against me and kill me before I even had a chance to do anything.

A normal random encounter killed me without giving me a fucking chance to do anything just because I made the mistake to equip a persona weak against ice.

I was playing a game, and there was a glitch where a enemy was invisible, and couldn't be damaged. I was in an arena where I HAD to kill the enemy to proceed!

I let him kill me, I retried, he was still invisible! I tried a few more times, and finally I just quit.

Another time was in Far Cry 2. I had been working for an hour, and I saw a diamond briefcase below a bridge. I jumped down and.... died on impact. I was so pissed!

I don't rage quit, only losers do. :p

No but really, rage quitting is lame. You can't just give up.
Play "I Wanna be the Guy" and see if you don't rage quit after 10 minutes.

I've ragequit/downrightannoyedatthefactthatIcan'tworkoutwhichobjectAtocombinewithobjectBquit a few times playing th old Lucasarts point-&-clicks (I know it sounds a touch strange but they can get infuriating when you don't want to use any online help).

Worked out that all I need to do is leave it for a while, do something else and then come back to it with a new perpective.

How can anyone not ragequit anywhere past level 9 of Ninja Gaiden 2?

My sword does not deflect bullets as well as my torso attracts them!
For that game, I rarely rage-quitted. I rage-continued. And I thought the game got just a tad too difficult even before level 9.

But there was indeed rage. Oh, so much rage. I frequently pulled my own hair out from the rage. That attitude associated with my username? That goes straight out the window when I feel a game is pulling bullshit. This game is one such game.

cod: waw on veteran, it wasn't because of how cheap the enemies respond is, but instead it's because I hate tank levels

I still don't know why I did what I did, but I once attempted the SS challenge in Devil May Cry 3 (S rank on all points, all levels) on Dante Must Die mode, using a newly created game. I've rage-quitted so many times, mostly on Agni & Rudra. I've up till now reached level 18 but I doubt I'll ever make it through the entire thing.

Rather than start my own thread on this topic I thought I'd try to reinvigorate this one:

Here's a little story about something far worse than rage quitting. Rage uninstalling.

Earlier today (about a half hour ago to be precise) I boot up Steam to play my Dragon Age: Origins character. Not too far through the game on this play through, just finished the Circle and now in Orzammar. I leave the room, make a cup of tea, come back, sitting on the screen is window asking me to login to the Bioware online account (or whatever its called). "Strange" I think to myself "normally it's auto login". I login, noticing that my resolution is all out, "curiouser and curiouser".

Finally, after sorting that out I go back to the main menu to see that the "Resume" and "Load" text are not highlighted, prompting me to quickly check the DLC and that's missing as well. A rapid scan of the HDD for any of the savegame folders prompts nothing!

Damn Steam/Bioware/Windows lost about 18 hrs of gameplay. B*st*rds!

So I lost it and uninstalled DA:O completely.

I loved that litte Dwarf Noble (my first character that I actually really enjoyed playing with more than Morrigan or Wynne's magic). If it had been me who deleted him then fine, but the fact that it was completely and utterly out of my hands prompted me to seek retribution in the only ineffectual way that I could. The Rage Uninstall!

Left 4 Dead 2. I refuse to stay in agame with total fucking morons.

The player-base really needs to get a clue. Especially people who start kicking everyone because they died because they ran too far away!
