What kind of gamer are you?

I started on handheld systems such as Game Boy and gradually went onto N64, Playstation one, Gamecube, the original Xbox and xbox 360. I now mostly play xbox 360 but still own my N64, Gamecube, and Original xbox. I really want to get back into handheld gaming since I can honestly say those were some of the best experiences in my life.

I used to own a PSP but the analog stick broke so I'm either gonna repair it or just save money and buy the 3000 (the NPG doesn't interest me much). I tend to rent games only unless its a game I know I can play a lot, I'm not a big fan of multiplayer games. I don't hate them, I just feel single player is more important and fun.

I'm a fan of action/adventure games, shooters, and sometimes RPG's. I haven't played an RPG ever since high school (I just recently graduated college) but would love to give Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Lost Odyssey a go.

Relationship history?

I've been in a few relationships but the current one I'm in now has been probably the best out of the bunch. We've been together for a year and two months and had many ups and downs. Needless to say this one has been a big...I guess learning experience hahaha we're very different but suit each other well I believe and I can honestly say we're happy.

Heres a photo of us (I'm on the left): http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k56/Kenami/KenAndrea.jpg

I have to say that Shade184's post of "My greatest desire is to wake up one morning, look over at my beautiful wife lying there beside me, realise my finacial, social and relationship situations are all secure, know that I own my own house, and be grateful for all that I have." is definitely something I strive for and believe should be the only thing that matters in a persons life at the end of the day (that and of course being comfortable with ones self).

Non-game things you are into?

I am really big on music, mostly alternative/indie music and preferably British tunes (yes I like NME). I'm also a freelance music journalist but writing isn't my real passion, what I love to do above else is photography. I am a concert photographer of 3 years and have to say its one of the best things to do in the world. You can see my work here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kenami/

Non-game things you are not into?

I dislike driving. I do not own a license yet but I am going to obtain one soon. I took driving lessons last year and absolutely hated it. I wasn't necessarily bad (though left turns are down right impossible to do) but my girlfriend and driving instructor would both teach me, tell me I'm doing an amazing job, yet proceed to yell at me...I think that certainly made me not want to give a shit about driving. Also I primarily work in New York City and a town outside it with a lot of public transportation so driving seems drastically obsolete to me.

I like to to play any kind of game, RPGs, shooters, flash, ect.
I always like the stories to games, each is something that I can experience and be a part of and, in certain cases, change entirely.

RPGs are my probably my favorite genre.

I've never dated/liked/had a crush on anyone really.

My first console was the original Atari. Original. Yes. I'm as bloody as dirt. I've owned everything from a Sega, to a Dreamcast, to all versions of the Playstation. I don't have an X-Box, but want.

-relationship history
Married to a non-gaming guy who con't understand my need to shoot things in the head. After 10 years of marriage, you think he's get used to it. I had children so I'd have someone in my house to play with.

Cooking. I hate it so, but must do it to live. One day I will invent a way to have food made that I do not have to prepare or have to pay someone to prepare for me. Or, I'll make one of the kids learn to cook.

What kind of gamer are you?
I mainly play RPG's but I play FPS's when I'm with friends. I've been in it since I got a Playstation back in the day, then I got an N64. I've had a PS2, Xbox, Gameboys Color and Advance. I now have an Xbox 360 and DS.

Relationship History:
I had my first girlfriend in 7th grade, dated her through 8th, she cheated on me. My next girlfriend was for six months of 9th grade, she was 17, I was 15. She cheated on me and got pregnant. My current girlfriend I started dating a week before the start of 10th grade, we're now in college.

Non-Game things you are into:
I love listening to and playing music, writing, and tabletop games. I'm kind of a hipster, I like fashion. I also like soccer/football. And reading, I love to read, mostly fiction, I like poetry too. My favorites are Hemingway, Poe, Kerouac, Ginsberg, Eliot, and Kafka, my favorite book is Catcher in the Rye.

Non-Game things you are NOT into:
I strongly dislike Heavy Metal. I used to love it, especially extreme metal. Now I realize its just not really music...or very good. I also don't much care for math or science, but really only because I'm bad at it.

-what kind of gamer are you?
I'm less of a gamer and more of a game developer. I play games fairly little (no more than about 5-10 hours a week I think, possibly less), but used to play a lot when I was younger.

I've just ended up stuck in the gaming community as a sort of "observer", if that makes sense.

-relationship history
I've had quite a few crushes throughout my life, only twice did I end up being fairly close friends (one where the crush came before the friendship, the other one was opposite). But I've never had a relationship with anyone.

-non game things you are into
I am immensely curious about the world around me. I like to think that I, at my core, never grew out of my curious child. So I basically find anything and everything interesting in one way or another.

But what I'm especially interested in (and actively engage in) is art and aesthetics/beauty, the surreal, philosophical questions, Go (the board game), and likely a few things I can't grasp onto. I must add that I like programming, writing, composing, and drawing (In which all are relevant when developing games).

-non game things you are not into
No sport (other than, arguably, DDR), no partying (but I do love talking to people, and spending time with them), and I try to avoid anything which pulls me closer to the ground and reality.

1) Been playing for as long as I can remember. I prefer RPGs and FPS but I will venture out if the game appeals enough. I like games that I can play over and over without getting bored, I think I've played Final Fantasy VIII more than any person ever has ever.

2) I've had 3 boyfriends, 2 of them were assholes the current one I hope to marry one day.

3) I enjoy talking to my friends from the escapist, going out and I watch a lot of movies (not dirty ones) mostly horror.

4) I am in no way interested in sports.

What kind of gamer are you?

I like FPS and RPG, with a little RTS (and minecraft!) Really, I only need one first person shooter, upgrading every so often. At the moment, this is Halo: Reach. I do mess around on other FPS games, though. Other than that, I bury myself in things like Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed. This is all on 360. On computer, I play Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2, and the the left 4 dead games on steam, plus tf2 and Garry's Mod.

Relationship History:

Had one girlfriend a couple of years ago who I lost my virginity to. After that, the mother of all dry spells. However, I'm moving on education-wise quite soon, so opportunities should start appearing.

Non-game things you are into:

Looking after dogs, writing (getting a book published in a few months! YAAAAAY!) shooting, 90's rock and whittling.

Non-game things you are not into:

Rap music, Metal, hip hop, pop, techno, and most other modern music. Public drinking (I mean like going into a park, and such with a bottle of something being an asshole, a trend that has afflicted a lot of people round here.) it is the most dick headed way to drink.

My name is Christopher Nicol. 16 going on 17.

I'm a neutral, relaxed gamer - I don't pick favourites. Call of duty on the PS3, Halo on the 360 and the conduit on the Wii. I don't get hot under the collar if I'm losing in a match and I won't go crazy when I (rarely) win. I first started playing on the Sega Genesis; had two games, Sonic the hedgehog 2 and mortal kombat. from there I got a playstation with spyro, then an Xbox and I was introduced to Halo: CE. Later I got a PS2 and had a bit more variety. Then I got a wii, my dad got a 360 (for halo 3) and I got a PS3. I also rock both the handhelds though I'm more partial to the PSP (hope that's going to be amended with the 3DS).

Relationship history - None. I'm asexual but I do get lonely sometimes.

Stuff I'm into - Manga/anime, the forums here on the escapist and a bit of writing. Oh and heavy metal, speed metal, power metal, black metal, death metal, industrial metal, classic rock and delta blues. Pretty much anything with metal stuck to it...cept a few like glam/hair/gothic/emo metal.

Stuff I'm not into - Anything Pop culture.

EDIT: Name: Jonny, Age: 16, Eyes: Blue, Hair: Long large curled Dark Ginger, Height: 5'11, Nationality: English

I'd consider myself a core type of gamer. Fairly unbiased of systems. Plays a decent range of games. Started from playign with my older brother, and becuase of that I didnt actually need to start buying consoles until I wanted one he didn't or he left. I'm bad at choosing favourite games since no game has ever been perfect for me. But I wish TimeSplitters would come back, especially now so i cna rub it in the face of the kind of people that play popular FPS.

I am single, and I have been single my entire life. I'm not easy to pick people, and it takes a lot for me to feel close to someone since I'm very much an unusal person, with my nerdy hobbies, and my weird, yet not often obvious personality. I have ADHD and Aspergers syndrome, and I perosnally diagnose myself with misanthropy, quick jealousy, mild narcissism, sadism, emotional masochism. I'm a weird mix of morals and negative character traits, hence my username. My indifference or ambivalence to msot thigns result in an unemotional look which many people often misenterpret as sadness or depression. I don't like being told to smile, because what point is there in smiling if I don't feel like it? I often work with more logic than emotion when asked things, ut there are several things I can't decide an opinion on. I seem to doublethink. I have been interested in very few people in my life, and no one has been interested in me. The only people to ever claim feelings for me are damage girls on the internet, who move on quickly, and I am unable to commit to anyone I haven't seen in their everday life. The only girl I ever asked out said no, then continually raised my hopes and crashed them, ending with a slightly unreasolved finish, and try to be friends even though I've lost all interest in her, because I've seen how she can act and she stopped being attractive to me. The closest girl to what I hope for I've ever seen lives in New York, and would prefer to remain single her entire life. I think my problem there was that since I have high or specific standards, I believe in growing relationships from friendship rather than asking out a person as soon as thye seem interesting, so I fail to avoid the friend zone. This is all bad since it's pretty much my goal in life to meet the right person, because after being a bit uninvolved, out of place, and bullied most of my life, I wish somebody would see me as their favourite person in the world.

Well, I'm taking Philosophy, Electronics, Maths Statistics, and Computing in College. I also considered Physics and Psychology. I also like anime, but I'm crap at finding new ones, and even though enthusiastic, can barely be considered a decent fan.

I'm misanthropic, take a guess. I hate arrogant and stupid people. I usually hate things liked by these kinds of people to, it may come across as hating because it's popular, but it's really a combination of that, and that I really don't care about popular culture. And I'm not really into anything that I havent already mentioned. In the way of activities and events, I'm a very uninteresting person. I often have conversations with people where I wish I was more intesting or had a more eventful life, so I'd have something to talk about. But I wouldn't choose to do anything that I don't usually do.

I'm a single player gamer for the most part. The games that got me into games are MGS1, Half Life, Starcraft, and Max Payne. That being said, I have a soft spot for valve, blizzard, and rockstar. If there were one publisher/developer to whom i am most faithful it would be rockstar. Although more recently i have been treading the water of the RPG so i'm beginning to really like/appreciate Bioware, Bethesda and Atlus. Some of my favorite games to date are: anything rockstar :D, Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age Origins, Fallout 3, Persona 3 and 4, Starcraft II and Diablo 2, Half-Life 2 and Portal. IMO Half Life 2 was the last FPS worth playing and unless hell freezes over will always been the last FPS worth playing.

My relationship history isn't too bad. I'm 23 and engaged to be married. I've hooked up with about 30 women, dated maybe half that and am in love with the woman i am marrying, so not too many complaints here.

I am interested in the game industry as a business, but i guess this is supposed to be about non-gaming stuff. I'm a big movie buff, I love to read, I studied politics at college and currently work for the government in Pennsylvania. I would like to be an attorney some day and my father-in-law wants me to be a securities broker. I play guitar and write and record songs. I played in a rock band in highschool and college and feel pretty nostalgic for those days.

I hate bleeding heart liberals and jumbo cock conservatives with equal vigor. I can't stand when American politicians get involved all over the globe wasting money on people who hate us. Republicans: stop warring with every one. Democrats: stop wasting money on curing aids in africa. Thats what Bono is for.

Now i will kindly step off my soap box.

What Kind of Gamer Are You?

Though i have been gaming since the late 80s, i was born into rough times for the game consoles. My birth date is 1982, the year E.T and Custer's Revenge were released. Tied to such catastrophes from birth i am an ill omen for porn games and scavenger hunt games.

That being said, i'm still a good gamer. Years of experience combined with my natural instincts make me a practical scion of shooting. But my continued thirst for challenge leaves me digging up more obscure titles seeking entertainment.
I was also one of the earlier advocate of "Games are art" and love games that defy established convention. Valve games like Portal, Team Ico's masterpiece Shadow of the Colossus, and Suda51s masterpiece killer7 are among my favorites. Silent Hill 2 is also a favorite of mine, being the type of man so desensitized to violence a game with no psychological aspect or only feigned aspects like Dead Space have no chance of scaring me.

Relationship History:

My gaming "Career" is one of triumph, family...? Not so much. My parents tried to force me into Catholocism and i turned into a bitter misanthrope at an early age. As such i can only really relate to other people like myself who hate people and the Catholic church.
I do have a girlfriend mind, and it's working out well, but before her, nothing.

Non-Game Things i'm Into:

I like to cook and am a doctor, but my only other real passion between cooking, my girlfriend, and my games are animals.

Non-Game Things i Despise:

Politicians. I hate, and i mean HATE, stupid fucking conservatives who distort reality and logic just for the sake of padding their wallets. This ties into my misanthropy in general, but people who indirectly cause damage and death just for the sake of getting votes and getting money are bastards i hold in the same regard that i hold tapeworms. I keep wondering if i could kill a Republican or a Tea Partier by feeding him ivermectin.

1. I was heavy into adventure games while growing up in the 90s until I got my first console, which was an N64 with Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and Aero Gauge. Needless to say, I don't play racing games anymore. I used to be a Nintendo-only person until I went to college and began playing the GTA series on a floormate's PS2. I got a PS2, and later an Xbox 360. As for playing habits, I guess I mainly play sandboxes (GTA, Red Dead Redemption), FPS's (Bioshock, The Orange Box), RPG's (Mass Effect, Tales of) and the various third person games (Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed, Alan Wake, Dead Space). I really suck at strategy games and fighting games, but I'm still looking forward to playing Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 regardless. And generally, I don't play online. And if I do, then only co-op. I'm not that much into competition.

2. I haven't had a relationship. Partly because my circumstances can't support it, and partly because... well, something to do with self-esteem issues.

3. I'm a big music guy. I listen to pretty much any sort of music (except country and rap). I also play piano (17 years), bass guitar (8 years), drums (2 years, still learning though), and am currently learning the regular guitar. I'm pretty good at writing as well, and I also have a bit of an amateurish fascination with films.

4. Pretty much everything else. Sports, cars, crazy adrenaline-filled outdoor activities. Oh, and photography. Never did like photography.

1. I'm a quiet, stubborn nerd who focuses on education during the school day, but when I'm at my home, I can be myself without getting my ass kicked. Also the Internet is a place of escape for me, I love internet memes with a passion. I hate things being spoiled for me thanks to TVTropes, but I can shrug that off.

2. I am a HUGE nerd, I have everything from a Nintendo Entertainment System to a Sega Dreamcast. You name it, I own it!

Favorite 8-bit game: Contra
Favorite 16-bit game: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Favorite 32-bit game: Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
Favorite 64-bit game: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Plus, I am into film, music(mostly metal and classic rock) and fanfiction. Also I'm a Troper.

3. Relationships? All non existent.

4. I ABSOLUTELY HATE GENERALIZATIONS. It pisses me off to no end how people can just say shit about someone and act like it never happened. It brings my piss to a boiling point.

-what kind of gamer are you?
Mostly I am an FPStard, I began my gamer life with Duckhunt, and I loved it. Right now, I play Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, Halo Reach and Alien vs. Predator. (I like my multiplayer.) Other than FPS I enjoy Fighting and RPG, like Elder Scrolls, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Mortal Kombat. I've never really enjoyed simulators, sports games or RTS games. I do however enjoy TBS like Onimusha Tactics.

-relationship history
I have only had one long term relationship, which I am still in nearly three years later. Other than that a string of horrible failures and misadventures which I would rather forget.

-non game things you are into
I love music. I play classical guitar, electric guitar, piano, ukelele and I would love to play more. I also love rugby, but never play it unfortunately. I pride myself on being one of the physically strongest people I know (although not the fittest) and really enjoy working out. I also love acting.

-non game things you are not into
Football. Both the normal kind and the American kind. I don't understand the following either has, nor do I understand why American football is called football when foot rarely meets ball.

I'll play most anything that isn't a sports game, though I tend to lean towards western RPGs and survival horror. I've been playing games since I could first navigate my brother's SNES, and my mother raised me right by teaching me the wonders of PC gaming.

-relationship history
I've been in several relationships throughout my short life, all ending either with my disinterest prompting a breakup or with their personalities changing for no adequate reason and dropping me like a hot potato. I'm currently in a happy OL relationship.

-non game things you are into
You'll see me watching campy B-movies in my spare time and watching/reviewing anime in my not spare time. I'm a budding writer, so I like to stay sharp. I know, my life's positively fascinating. I also dabble into the occult. I don't believe in the majority of it, but it's a fun little thing.

-non game things you are not into
'Inspirational' movies and Mexican food are the only things I can think of. Both leave a horrible taste in my mouth. I'm also not one for socializing often, it being rare if anybody sees me out of the house with somebody else.

-what kind of gamer are you?
To be honest, pretty much a reformed one. I don't have nearly as much time to play my video games anymore, which really saddens me. I still keep track of a lot of the new releases and frequent the Escapist, but unless something changes my gaming time will remain low.

However, when I do get to play I am a lover of RPGs and third-person shooters.

-relationship history
I have only had one truly serious relationship in my life. It lasted for about three years before distance drove us apart emotionally. It was a rough time in my life, but it happened over a year ago.

I have plenty of friends and I'm not lonely. No real need for me to be romantically involved at this time.

-non game things you are into
TV shows. Good god the TV shows. Again, haven't been watching them as much as I would like but nothing appeals to me more than a good drama or a well-timed comedy.

Music, specifically indie type rock. Something about that style just speaks to me. I pretty much love all rock music, but acoustic/piano rock has a very special place in my heart.

Alcohol. 'Nuff said.

-non game things you are not into
Not really a fan of smoking or more potent drugs, although I have a lot of friends who do like them. Just not something that has ever really appealed to me.

Normal "guy" stuffs, like sports or cars. I'm just profoundly disinterested. People will blab on and on about how angry they are about a certain trade on their team or how their going to improve the torque on their engine. And I try not to yawn.

There are other things, but I can't think of them right now. :p
