Psychonauts, Sentinel, Total Annihilation, Outcast(gotta see voxels in action), Missionforce Cyberstorm (closest thing to a BattleTech PC game without mech simulation), Galactic Civilizations 2 + all expansions, Sins of a Solar Empire, and Planescape Torment.

Oh and for the future DarkFall Online.

Evil Genius. What can I say? You get to design an evil lair of wicked badness, torture and kill tourists, govt agents, and even your own minions... All for the sake of ruling OR destroying the world.

Picture somewhat relevant...

It is... He's EVIL, and has minions. Hot, sexy stormtrooper minions.
What is it with you and spamming retarded pictures? You're making us look stupid.

Also, System Shock 2. Bioshock's awesome, but it lost the sensation of being a weak monkey wrench caught in a powerful machine. It's not flawless (damn weapon degradation!) but it's one of the best PC games ever. If you've not played it, go buy it now. Seriously. Here's a link:

I'm sure you'll be able to find it somewhere for cheaper, but the point stands. PLAY THIS GAME! :)

Heroes of Might and Magic III

The design is typical Tolkienized european fantasy but probably has some of the best sound affects in any game ever. And not to mention that it has some of the best turn based combat ever made.

Diskworld 2: Missing Presumed... such a good game.

If anyone has read any of the diskworld books its quite an easy game to sum up.

Death has gone missing and the wizards of the unseen university have sent Rincewind to get Death back. So you and your faithful luggage have to go and sort it all out...with hilarious results!

Best way of summing up what its like is simply think Day of the Tentacle, Diskworld style.

Phoenix Wright series. I know it's amazingly popular, but somehow most of my friends still haven't played it; they just make the off "objection" joke. The jokes are a lot sparser than in Sam and Max or something, but they're a lot stronger. The localization teams (translation and cultural changes) actually do a fabulous job of making it funny for an American audience. Here's one of the best examples.

Maya: Umm, would you mind taking a look at this?
Lisa Basil: I'm sorry. That data is SuPer-Admin Restricted Desktop Access password-protected.
Maya: SuPer-Admin Restricted Desktop Access password-protected? What?! This is madness!
Phoenix: No, Maya, that is SPARDA. She won't tell us unless we say the right code word.

Obviously the biggest flaw is its linearity, but consider it to be like buying a movie ticket. And it's a good "movie", even with a lot of great dialogue you could potentially miss out on.

Disgaea.

It is, quite simply, the TRPG perfected. And it's massive. And it's funny.

Either on the PS2 or PSP. You should play it.

Custom Robo for the GC. I've never been so addicted to a game in my life that didn't have multiplayer. U play as a kid who wants to join the local police force. The main obsession is "custom robos" little customizable robots made 4 fighting in virtual arenas. The story gets mildly deep but is easy to follow. There is a lot of competition and strategy involved. It's great for parties and has 4 player deathmatch. My friends still solve fights over a good deathmatch. Oh ya, there's another one 4 the DS that has more story but the graphics aren't as good. The DS one has WIFI.

Sammy, how can you SAY that? Heroes 2 was MUCH better than 3... Though 3 beat 4 hands down.

Savolne, Chibi-Robo is discontinued and almost impossible to find... Trust me, I've been looking since the day I bought my DS.
It's good, but there are some gameplay flaws you've got to overlook. Constantly clicking through the same text over and over, easy to break resource system, but still, really addictive if you don't mind all that.

Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. Quite possibly the best PC RPGs ever made. Post apocalyptic turn based rpg. Both hilarious and fun. The character interaction and the overall story is great. The extreme level of violence is also great. You can literally cut somebody in half with a minigun or blow them up with a rocket launcher or melt their face with a plasma rifle.

Hands down Telltale's Sam & Max episodic adventure games.
Obviously not everyone's cup of tea- if you don't like adventure games, you won't like them- but they're great games. The puzzles are great, and more importantly they are hilarious. Some of the funniest games ever made.
Not so much adventure games as they are point and click puzzle games. Hard as hell, but epic.
The genre is generally referred to as 'point-and-click adventures,' so I guess I could have been more specific.

Elite Beat Agents.

If you own a DS and have not played Elite Beat Agents, your life is a pathetic, meaningless void. Trust me on this. When you play EBA, the scales will fall from your eyes and you will see the FUNK.

Don't talk to me about Ouendan. EBA's final level > all of Ouendan.
