This was inspired by Gralian and Toriver in this thread:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.258827-What-do-you-dislike-about-America?page=4#9750172

Strangely, that thread was probably inspired by the many 'Homefront / America' threads that are about today.

...Ahem... the premise is simple. Explain what makes your country great! Tell us the reasons why you think your country is worth visiting, it's redeeming qualities!

I for one, and a sizable chunk of the escapists, come from Australia.

1) I am proud of our environment. A land rich with varying ecosystems. Many of our flora and fauna are unique to our country alone and are quite famous. We have some of the world's deadliest Spiders and Snakes which is pretty damn cool. Our weather is all over the place and yet other than Bush Fires (and a nasty Flood atm!) we don't experience natural disasters like hurricanes, tidal waves, volcanoes, and Earthquakes! The land itself is a great place to explore and also a dangerous one!

2) I am proud of our contributions to Science and our inventions:

3) I am proud of our literacy and multiculturalism and various other statistics:
http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/edu_mat_lit-education-mathematical-literacy

4) I am proud of the many Australian actors and actresses who litter Hollywood.

5) Even though people will often insult my nation for it's convict heritage, I am proud of most of the history in my country and people need to realize that the convicts were generations ago and have had no real significant impact on the society that has flourished today. Our cities have often been ranked as the most livable cities in the world along with those found in Canada, Austria, and Switzerland!:

Okay your turn!

I'd like to say something awesome about canada, but until the LCBO stops charging me 60 dollars for a 15 dollar bottle of vodka I am mad at it.

Umm, not really that much really.

Idk, free healthcare? (compared to americans)

There's a pretty beautiful landscape across Canada, but I really don't see anything outside of The Great Lakes/St. Lawrence as "my country." For Southern Ontario at least,
-We've got some pretty awesome lakes
-Nice natural areas like forests
-Nice cities, Southern Ontario's super multicultural
-Pretty liberal, happy, crime-free population
-Pretty cool direct neighbours: Quebec, New York, Vermont, Michigan, Ohio, a bit of Pennsylvania
-Toronto's got the 3rd most successful transit system in NA (doesn't say much, but is cool to wave dicks to.)

Freedom of press? Have you read the news lately?`The witch hunt of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks is basically the exact opposite of "freedom of press/speech".

We nuked people, does the US win?
There is no winner. I just wanted people to be patriotic. Although arguments like "Because we are great" and similar are pretty lame. It would be nice if people actually tried.

We have Stephen Colbert. All other arguments are invalid.
Cool image and yes I've watched him but isn't this the equivalent of Chuck Norris worship? Every country has awesome celebrities. Or are we saying Stephen Colbert is elevated above regular people 'because he is a GOD!'? :D

Blame Franklin Roosevelt for that if you must

Country
United States
All things considered, for all our bitching and the way the rest of the world regards us, america is a pretty good place to live, our government is incredibly stable, our military maintains a policy to never let a war be fought on our soil, and our economy is stable and strong (all things considered). We are not perfect, but it is a pretty good place.

Also, because our navy fleet is larger than the combined navies of the entire rest of the world.

Baconnaise, chocolate covered bacon, and bacon flavored mints. What more need be said? No country can compete with America's bacon superiority!

Are you trolling on purpose? Or are you a nationalist?
Neither, I can say I live in the nation that committed the worst terrorist act in history (at least recent history).
History is both good and bad. Cherish the good, but don't forget the bad otherwise it may happen again. Hiroshima was quite bad. Thanks to the US, the world knows what horrors that nukes can unleash. That knowledge has kept more people from using nukes on others. That has to count for something.

Sounds to me like America is afraid of everyone else.
