Powned, man, I fucking hate that term. I dont mind people typing it cause theres a lot more stuff thats a lot worse than it but people who say it IRL as "pawned". Seriously, what the fuck? Its just fucking stupid.

For me, it's the word "Epic". It's become such a cliche, the word epic is a way of saying something is amazing, with everybody using it to describe something mildly entertaining, the meaning of the word has been used to death.

"Replay Value" This should be a part of everygame for the love of...
I mean, when I was a kid I would save up money forever just to buy Super Mario Bros 2 or 3, or MegaMan 2... and then I would play those games for MONTHS. I know the times are changing, but oivey! Does the Replay Value have to be announced as a feature. Roight?!

I'm with you on replay value. I hate that.

Also "******" which gets tossed around waaaaay to causally.

But worst of all is "girl gamer" because we are soooo radically different from male gamers.

My boyfriend has a personal vendetta against calling the SNES the Sness (saying it as a word instead of letters)

I really admire the topic discipline here, and I agree with just about every suggestion here. However, I can't help myself:

- service (as a verb) as in the corporatespeak "We look forward to servicing your every need." I sure don't; when I hear that, I know they are going to hurt me, without even dinner and a movie to compensate.

- impact (as a direct action), as in "This will impact our profits considerably." Please use "affect" or "have an impact on", so I don't feel like impacting someone's head with a solid object.

I do like the acronym SoL [say: ess-oh-ell], because it allows me to make a point in (semi-)polite company or with kids around without being blatantly offensive or too rude.

Yeah ... You can .. So can pretty much every german too ... über is a very common word, you know ... Before you point out it is a term. Yes I know .. Germans use this as a term ... If something is über anything .. It's better ...

No it's not. This is a word that's made up. Unfortainly that means people have the liberty to twist it in any way they want. Pown, powned, pawn, pwn, pwnt ... Powawoah for all I care. No matter how you say it, it should stop right now.

Ha ha .. I had a friend that had .. A friend .. Anyway. So this guy tells this kid that "ffs" means "For funs sake". And the kid believe him. And there's this sceonario in WoW where the guild asks him why they would want to do [insert instance], since they've allready done it. And the kid just keeps responding "ffs" =P


Oh and to the one complaingin that pwn is not pronouncable ... Dude .. In croatia words like that are pronounced every day. Just look at "crna". Yes, it is a word ... Look it up, it means "black"

But I will say that perhaps the greatest term I've heard is "Splazer" (Splay-zer). Shortened term for Spartan Laser from Halo 3. Just say it once and you'll see...

My and my friends call it the 'Forever Gun', you should know why.

I hate the term '...and that's my opinion' in gaming arguments. Really it means "and I'm not a fanboy, honest" (in really unconvincing tone) and I think that it should no longer be allowed to say.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Rig (as in a gaming PC).

Um, may I ask why?

I play bass guitar, and I have an amplifier, speaker cabinet, tuner and cables that all go together, and I refer to that as my bass rig. I also have a mixer, amplifier, speakers, stands cables and microphones, and I refer to that as my PA rig (don't get snarky, it translates to Personal Address Rig, which is just as valid as PA system.)
So what's so grating about refering to my processor, ram, hard drive, graphics card, optical drives, motherboard, case fans and cables as a rig? Certainly if you look inside, it resembles a net rigging.

Of course, this comes from a guy who got bitched at for saying 'epic' in a game the other day, and had to explain that I literally meant that I was anticipating a long and arduous event, not just something 'zomg totally leetzors'.

There's no reason really, I just know a guy who uses the term a lot, and it gets annoying.
