Terraria coming to XBLA/PSN, PC users pissed

Terraria has today been announced for consoles, coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network with extra content. PC users, expecting a major announcement and feeling gypped, are absolutely furious. Justified? Maybe. A bit too angry? Quite possibly so.

Terraria is a game all about mining, building, and seeking treasure. Though very similar to Minecraft, the game's role-playing elements and Metroid qualities won it quite a lot of its own acclaim. It's got a hugely dedicated following on PC already, as evidenced by the fury they're exhibiting right now.

Naturally, you're curious as to what folks are saying, which is why I trawled through the Facebook announcement replies to get the best reactions. Thanks to everyone who let me know, by the way. I appreciate the chance to wade through this philosophical collection of heartfelt quotes.

I can sort of see why they'd be a bit miffed if it sounded like they were getting new content but some of them seem like they're pissed off because it isn't PC exclusive anymore. That's just sad (and I say this as a PC gamer).

I might be wrong here but hasn't the PC version been finished for quite a while now? The console version doesn't damage any elements of the PC game.

Do these ppl expect the devs to slave away for the next 10 years adding contenting to a game most ppl probably bought for under £2? Aren't the devs also making a similar space game for PC?

Yeah this is good oldfasioned elitism and in a bad way rather than just a bunch of purists. Did the minecraft fans kick off in a similar way about the XBLA version?

I'd kind of be angry too if I stayed up late waiting for an "important announcement" and it turned out to be something that didn't even affect me as a user.

That said, I'm glad Terraria is branching out to console.

You know, I didn't get worked up when I was told that the Dark Souls DLC that came with the "Prepare to Die" edition would have to be bought separately on consoles. No idea why this is such a big deal. Yeesh.

Theres a Dtoid comment that states that Re-logic abandoned updating the PC version before it was finished, so they might be some justifiable reason for this hatred.

I don't know the particulars, but if Re-logic made promises to the PC community and then went back on their word to work on the console port I can understand some of the anger, that and hyping PC gamers up with a major announcement.

Still kneejerk reactions always make for good reading
