Are there any AAA games that have gotten really high score from critics, but the gaming community has near-universally derided as being horrible?

I'm sure that there have been, but I can't think of any...

Well most people on this site are going to immediately jump on the Halo and Call of Duty series, which honestly, may not be the greatest of games, but definitely don't deserve all of the hate that gets spewed at them.

Not AAA, but From Dust has been zero bombed by kids thinking it was supposed to be a big budget god game epic.

These are terrible AAA games, they aren't terrible games but they have no right to be called AAA when they try to be two things at once (most of them) and thus kill one of those things in exchange for the other or they just try too hard or too little.

Gears of War
Gears of War 2
Gears of War 3 (Yeah I went there.)
Halo Reach (Hello my name is multiplayer and I am the entire basis of this game)
Last Remnant
Blue Dragon
Eternal Sonata
Call of Duty (Every other)
Red Alert 3
Command & Conquer 4
StarCraft 2
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
Dragon Age 2
Resistance (All of them)
Civilization V
Aeon
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
The Witcher (But was it AAA?)
Quake IV
Killzone
Killzone 2
Killzone 3
Prototype
Uncharted
Uncharted 2
inFamous
Metal Gear Solid 4
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Halo Wars (All it has for it is the cinematics)
Team Fortress 2
Counterstrike (Don't get me started)

RPG "grognards" despise Oblivion, Dragon Age 2 and Fallout 3. Oblivion is the only one I consider horrible. The other two range from "whatever" to "good for what it is"

Are we allowed to make predictions?

If so:

XCOM (reboot)

Syndicate (reboot)

I'll also pick the poor PC sales will be blamed on piracy, not the fact they will be badly ported derivative tripe.

I personally have a hate-on for the Modern Warfare series (but I'm going to own them all, go figure). Also, Dragon Age 2. Homefront was meh, and suffered from the same problems as Modern Warfare, only... more.

Well, I don't like Prince of Persia (2008). Anybody else? I'm alone aren't I...

As mentioned Dragon Age II has a mixed reception. I liked it, but I'm annoyed by it's faults. It wasn't the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins I wanted, but it was an enjoyable game. Oh, and there's that sect of Fallout fans that vehemently hate Fallout 3. Does that count?

Reviews are as accurate as any other opinion based on almost entirely subjective characteristics. If you agree, it's spot on, if you don't, it's out to lunch.

I sincerely doubt there will be any games that the community near-universally disliked, despite how vocal some are.

Something to consider, it's hard to gauge how much dislike a game generates when so often folks will formulate a heated opinion about a game before it's even released. Example: the upcoming X-Com, many folk already hate it, despite the fact that they haven't played it. Odds are that it doesn't even matter how well X-Com is executed as a video game, they've already made up their mind to hate it.

There is a cliche out there about opinions and assholes.

I smell a great deal of bias in this thread. With that said...I'll hold my tongue. It all depends on what you deem terrible. I don't think there are any games that have a high critic score, but the gaming community shuns in unison.

AAA is stupid label that assumes that spending ludicrous amounts of money on game development (and usually more on marketing) is a guarantee of quality.
if you think it signifies anything other than the Astounding Amount of Assets spent then you are severely deluded.
