I've seen The Comedy of Errors, and the error was that there was no comedy.
Well, shucks. I saw "Comedy of Errors" at a replica of the London Globe Theatre. It was a blast.

Nice burn, though. ;-)

No Ayn Rand fans? She writes books that make you an asshole for a month after you read them.
did that to you to? i chose to read the anthem because it was the only book on my list tht wasn't total garbage. i liked it. it was short though kinda. i want to read the fountainhead. is it any shorter then Atlas shrugged? cuz that thing looks like a bludgeoning tool.
Not really. They're both pretty long. But worth it, IMO.

I seem to be the only one that liked Lord of the Flies.
I also loved Animal Farm.
I despised To Kill A Mockingbird.
I HATED TKAM. Our teacher teacher wanted us to be through it in a week with a page reading guide for each chapter...I almost failed that class

Generally most books we are required to read at school seem to be extremely bland and terrible examples of a genre. I don't know why this is, maybe schools don't want you to read and want you to take low wage jobs that no one else wants to do but someone's got to do it...

It was ages ago, but Tom Sawyer is an example. If people thought this was interesting then life must have sucked a hundred years ago.

Coincidentally, I was looking through my old school books the other day. To my horror, I realised I had blanked out pretty much all memory of reading "I'm the King of the Castle" by Susan Hill, but just the summaries I'd written was enough to bring it all flooding back.

Just about the most depressing thing ever I'd say. Lucky for me, I managed to avoid reading the entire summary, so I still have a nice block on most of the second half of the book. But after one kid nearly ends up drowning another in the first half, I have a suspicion that it only gets worse... just don't make me remember.

As I am sure someone has already said, "Catcher in the Rye" was absolutely terrible.

Though if no one HAS said it yet, shame on all of you for letting this required piece of shit reading assignment slip through untouched.

ALL of Shakespear was hell. Romeo and Juliet the most because it was horrible. Why do we even need to read clasical writing anyway? I mean does it have any uses at all?

I wish it wasn't required, but only so classless people like you don't ruin it for people actually interested in the subject matter. People like you are the reason people like me never get to discuss the sexual connotation of Gogol's "The Nose."

"All quiet on the Western Front" for freshman English. Depressing and pointless.
Oh, and "The Old Man and the Sea". I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I could wipe the floor with Ernest Hemingway in a creative writing contest. Bland, uninspired, and any allegory involved was weak and far too obvious.

"Constructions of Deviance." If you attend college then do yourself a favor and avoid the sociology classes.
