Oh my...
That's just horrible. At first when i heard the death toll was 10 or so, I figured it didn't end as bad as it could (I'm that kind of a person, i guess). But now... Jesus. That's just brutal. I feel sorry for people affected by this event... don't really what to say...
Damn.

I followed this all day and all of yesterday. I'm shocked and saddened by all of these events and hope for the best for all in Norway and hope to see justice served. What happened here is an abhorrent act of terrorism, doesn't matter that he was white, it's terrorism.

Usually i associate terrorist attacks to groups of people, rather than individuals. But the fact that it was one man who did this, makes it all the more horrifying to me.

The death penalty would be too good for him. I call for the endless, agonizing, unending, torture penalty...

What kind of a gun did he use? A pistol?
According to police, it was a pistol and a "two-handed automated firearm" or something.

He has also published a 1500 pages (yes, one thousand five hundred) long manifesto which, in great detail, explains why and how he committed his crimes. In the manifesto, he explains that he has used the last two years to make the manifesto, the bomb and to plan the attack. All in all, the most thoroughly documented massacre I have ever heard of.

He has supposedly also uttered "It is better to be hated than to be forgotten". I stand by my previous statement when I say, please do not let him get what he wants. He deserves oblivion, not martyrdom.

Should a person who takes other persons right to live, self have the right to live?
Short answer: Yes.

Longer answer: The constitution in Norway is build on Christian and humanist values. One of those values is though shall not kill. A human life is considered sacet and should not be sacrificed unnecessarily. Another argument is that it has happened that new evidence have proved someone innocent after they have served their time. They then get a lot of money to live the rest of their life to the fullest. Consider if that person was already dead when his innocent was proved. Then the tradgedy is even worse. Also, statistically crime rates grow when the laws get stricter. For instance, strict rules on smuggling lead to high risk, meaning the drug prices rise and suddenly the illegal drug sales are booming.
Actually our constitution is based on the french from the revolution. It's why we where allowed to keep it during the swedish union (Karl Johann was a suporter of the french constitution).
Not to say that I dissagree with what you what you say, it's just the sourcematerial for the constitution I'd like to point out.

To be fair, both Al-Quaida and Answar Al-Islam jumped in afterwards and said they were responsible.
To be fair, neither did. A group named Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami made comments online that can be construed as claiming responsibility, although they never said so outright.

Here's a propaganda video made by Anders Behring, the shooter.

The man was insane.
The man is clearly insane, but honestly, I think the general population can be worse. Has anyone read that YouTube comments section? I expected pretty nasty remarks to him, which there are, but the one of the highest rated comments... honestly... is just... wrong.

"why dont u blow up a moske and kut down 100 muslims instead of 100 norske youts you fuck." nolifemerc 2 minutes ago 5 thumbs up

Within two minutes, that remark about killing one population over another is the highest rated comment (at the time I started writing this response, it's now some other remark that's the highest) in the entire video. It's honestly downright disturbing, and the worst part is this isn't just a YouTube troll, this is what many humans also believe.

I myself am an American, who had a family member that (thankfully) survived 9/11 for working at the Twin Towers (he missed his train ride to get to work that day), my entire family is military and I myself am entering the military soon. Yet, after all of this, I do not hate Muslims. In fact I don't hate any Muslims, not even the extremists, because I refuse to let myself become blind with fear and hatred to an entire culture based on the actions of murderers.

The lost 94 lives (and unfortunately there may be more later if found) are a tragic, and the man is hopefully going to get what's coming to him. I offer my deepest sympathies to all Norwegians for this horrible event, and hope that everyone here on The Escapist was safe from the events that unfolded, as with their families.

"extreme leftist"?? He's an extreme rightist ffs!
Left or right, the issue with this statement is the extreme part, as that's what leads to these horrible events, extremists and extreme actions.

Just pray when they find these people that they have some fucking fun with them first and put it on TV. People like this don't need killing, they need to be publicly mocked, then the families of victims need to be let loose upon him with fucking razors.
You are horribly disgusting. What on earth would this accomplish? Nothing. It's just sick barbaric revenge that puts you on the same level as the killer. Thankfully, Norway is above this sort of crap and he won't even get capital punishment. And that's how it should be. This man should not be killed. He should be locked up and kept out of society. He should be forgotten, so that we can move on and accept this tragedy. To torture him or execute him would merely keep his memory fresh in the mind of the public, and the rage over what he did would take far longer to subside.
