[HEADING=2]Hatred for the TES community, but why?[/HEADING]
I don't understand how some people can hate on the TES community. We're the only community that does a healthy dose of trolling, not the fuck-fest of bickering and trolling EVERY OTHER online community does. We're self-loathing, but that's nothing in comparison with some of the WoW / DotA / LoL communities; [PersonalRage]we ARE more intelligent & older than the average CoD community, but that's because our minds can comprehend scale and acknowledge a respectful product[/PersonalRage]; and we're not braggers / bitchers beyond the tiring GotY chant, not unlike what my ex-Halo community was, but less extreme.
We're an internet community, you can't get away from that - but quite possibly the most enjoyable one to be in. Most of us have a good gaming history, a portion of us do charitable things for our favoured series such as mods, instead of trying to rip it apart from the inside with hacks; and we chat stories and tips to each other for use in-game instead of shunting insults around and getting into comment-spars. I can almost certainly start up a discussion about "the good old times"[footnote]Yeah sure the good old times were good, but the now-times can be just as good (topic for another discussion, no this one).[/footnote] in any TES related thread; and you get good response without people screaming at each other - try that anywhere else other than segments of WoW, Unreal Tournament or Splinter Cell(I tried to bring up CoD 1 in a BO forum); and you get the cold-shoulder. or the Fanboy inslt. treatment.
Surely if you're hating on the TES community without an explanation (or a lousy one) it's just jealousy or a hatred for popular games success.[footnote]A penny for every time I heard that[/footnote] [footnote]Haha, this sentence is self-loathing irony, but yet so, so true - I understand dislike for the game where valid points are brought up, but that doesn't really seem to be the case, which is why we're here on this discussion.[/footnote]
Discussion value: What community would you consider yourself apart of & if you dislike the TES community - honestly, why?[footnote]Another footnote? Saying "because it's everywhere" is not valid; don't fucking read / watch it then. That's what I did for CoD during the year of MW2.[/footnote]
[small]Note:
- "Opinions" is a non-valued answer, I know it's "Opinions" but what are those "opinions" to begin with?
- Also, saying "it's buggy" is an acceptable answer; but a bottom tier one at that. If you decide this is your answer then you must also truthfully admit you're not a programmer and lack any & all debugging knowledge; so I can mentally tally up how many people hate on a game for things they don't understand. You can partially redeem yourself by reading my post here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.331923-The-Elder-Scrolls-modders-amazes-me?page=2#13466997] on how "buggy" is not a valid form of slating some games, but can be used against others justifiably.[/small]
EDIT: haha gotta love forums. Threads never come out the way you intended them to and discussions diverge into something you didn't want. Guess I deserve it / had it coming.
Time for me to post in the "Open minded" thread ah?
