Ren Shep told me a bit about you.

I can see everything he said was right.

Also, I called this the day before it happened and I couldn't help but rub it in all of my friends faces, it was great.

Sadly I'm unsure if my backup compy can even run TF2, but I can try.
...Do you want me to just close my account? If you hate me I'm not going to have a good time here.

This was very exiting when it was announced, but day 3 pretty much just killed it for me.
To play on an official server, you must purchase a ticket for $1 for EACH game. I suddenly lost all respect for Valve. I would have gladly paid a single price if it was passed as a dlc, but instead they pass it as a "free" update.

How often do you play on Valve servers normally?

I believe what he/she is referring to is that you need to purchase those tickets to obtain the new cosmetic items. They can't be crafted nor do they drop normally. You need to take part in a tour of duty which means you're spending at least $1 per tour for a shot at random items on the Valve servers (Tour of Duties are only available in Mann-Up mode aka official server). The only other alternative is trading for them.

Personally I am as well put off that I'll never end up getting these items and would much rather have just paid a fair price to have them always be available to drop for myself when partaking in MvM matches but I'll still try out the new mode and see if its any good.

That isn't how it works, but I agree with your opening statement.
I'm not buying items to get loot.

So let me get this straight... they're charging $0.99 every time you want to play the full version of Mann Vs. Machine? Dafuq, seriously. I paid for the stupid game before it went free to play. If they counted it as an expansion that you had to pay for once to get full access, I'd be all over it, but I'm not going to pay extra each time I want to access one of the game modes. That's Bobby Kotick "I want you to pay for bullets" levels of ridiculous.

No, only when you want to play the mode and be rewarded with the new vanity items. You can play MvM on normal servers and still get normal TF2 unlocks as per usual.

Mann Up is purely cosmetic items. All maps, achievements, and weapons are available without paying.

But you still miss out on the tours of duty, as noted in that FAQ. That's my problem. I don't give a crap about the hats, but I do care about the multi-level missions. I don't see why they can't separate the item dropping from access to the game mode.

I don't think the multi-level missions are any different from playing several games one after another. I would assume the Mann Up mode is nothing more than a set difficulty with a vanity reward at the end.

I just hope it doesn't put you back into a queue after you've played a map, because honestly, that'd be enough for me to completely disregard the game mode. Nobody likes waiting.
I bought a single ticket to see what Mann Up would be like however I dunno if its up and running yet. Compared to the regular MvM there are actually less options of maps/conditions to choose from and you don't have the option to choose "any map". Currently shows 960 empty servers and hundreds of people in queue but only queue # fluctuates and the empty servers keep increasing. Hopefully I can get 1 game in tonight.

Same here. Seems like Mann Up is broken right now, shows no single active/full games for me. Nothing but empty servers and several hundred people waiting in que to play.

It's a long wait to get in the MvM servers. But it's not too bad when you have friends with you in Vent.

I got so tired of waiting I created my own server. I got my shit promptly pushed in by the hordes of robots, but it was fun while it lasted.
