Thats the whole point... They don't help the strengths.. Not abuot how he's 'meant' to be played, but how he 'needs' to be played.
I'm sure the weapons have been heavily tested, you just have to figure out where they play to the scout's strengths and where they'll get you killed.

No, you've explained why you don't think they are effective. How many hours did you spend to get 'good' at playing the scout? And how many hours have you spent playing the new mods? Just because you can't be bothered putting the effort in doesn't mean that there isn't potential there.DeusFps said:/facepalmLukeje said:So you're blaming Valve for the fact that you can't be bothered to find out how to use the new weapons effectively?DeusFps said:Yeah ok I'll get right down to making strats to make the scout harder to play for no reward.
I've just spent the whole thread explaining why they aren't effecttive. Please read it kthx

DeusFps said:Right, the new shotgun. Whats the point in removing double jump so you can use the shotgun for it insted and for less damage. No double jump = dead scout. The drink does nothing, you have to stand still for like 2 seconds and only lasts about 5. So you either take it in the thick of fire and get owned in .5 of a second or take before and get ~1 second of the effect when you need it. Pistol still owns it. New bat is only thing i would ever use, just to take out heavys, but i can do that easily by double jumping onto their head and owning them with the normal bat. Does nobody else see this or am i the only one here who knows how to play tf2?
First, playing a video game doesn't EVER equate to a reward in any measurable sense of the word - mastery (and thus, owning the noobs) is the reward in and of itself. Second, each of the items placed in the game is designed to provide additional play options for each class without dramatically altering their role. The scout's new weapons, like the pyro upgrades before it, result in a class that plays differently but still fulfills the same basic role. In the case of the pyro it's unparalleled short ranged firepower, in the case of the scout it's high speed skirmish warfare. If you do not like the altered play style associated with the new weapons, by all means stick with the old ones, no one twisted your arm to make you use the new stuff.DeusFps said:Yeah ok I'll get right down to making strats to make the scout harder to play for no reward.Lukeje said:So come up with new strategies that make the most use of those features.DeusFps said:Right, the new shotgun. Reward as in playing better. No point in using a hard strat if you get the same result as a easy one. The better weapons thing... Thats why i said make them hard to obtain. Insted of achievements that result out of pure luck have ones that reward skill. That is what warrants a buff in weapons. Any vet player to the scout would be able to obtain them as well obviously, even quicker.Eclectic Dreck said:First, playing a video game doesn't EVER equate to a reward in any measurable sense of the word - mastery (and thus, owning the noobs) is the reward in and of itself. Just look at it this way - if the new weapons were literally "The same as the old ones only better" than you have given in inherent advantage to a veteran player above and beyond skills - which goes against a key tenant of FPS games (The presumed level playing field).
Some people think it's rude to answer to more than one guy in a post. I do that too. It's nothing bad in my eyes.Cpt. Red said:As some already have said: how can stunning a überd heavy not be a good thing?
Also the drink seems to be perfect when you are trying to get away with their intelligence.
The Force of Nature seems to be good against those pesky pyros ans their flames...
One last thing: if you are one of those that is using an achievement server, and it seems like you are, then you are the one that miss the point of achievements.
EDIT: AND STOP THE FRECKIN DOUBLE POSTING FFS!!! USE THE EDIT BUTTON INSTEAD!!!
I lol'd.. Anyway. So why can't i call people noobs when they clearly have no idea what they're talking about in regards to strategies for playing the scout? Yeah nobody is forcing me to use them. But if there is no reason to.. Why is it a good thing for valve to waste time on them? This was meant to be a discussion. Calling my opinion idiotic is just pathetic.Machines Are Us said:1: Nobody is forcing you to use them.DeusFps said:Just unlocked all the achievements. 2: Valve made the game, so the if the characters are supposed to be played "a certain way" then it's the way they bloody well designed it.
3: Repeating yourself is not going to work when nobody else agrees with you.
4: Calling people a noob for giving a smart answer to your idiotic posts is pathetic, grow up.
5: It's whiny, ungrateful people like you that make game developers less likely to put in effort for free updates because they can never win.
I personally have not got any of the new updates for any of the classes due to only recently getting the PC version of the game (Sold the 360 version of Orange Box a while back) and I personally look forward to giving them a go, sure they may or may not work, but it's my choice to use them or not.
