Yeah, I mean I've had amazing Snipers on my team before that made it so the other team could barely get past the spawn. And, I love them for it.fix-the-spade said:Hmmm... maybe.peachy_keen said:If you want to help your team, don't go Sniper. If you want to play a minigame, then go for it.
A sniper can be very useful, but it takes a lot of practice to be of any significant use to your team.
Just play around with different classes till you find one you like. They've all got little nuances and tricks that take time to learn, so there isn't really one that's more accessible than another.
Or you can not fail at knowing the mechanics and just roast them all with a single pyro like I do.MercurySteam said:Scout rushes are common now cause of the Scout's upgrades. This can only be balanced by releasing upgrades for everyone else.Human Shield said:Since everyone seems to be a scout right now I would suggest not to go scout.
Say WHAT? They might not have perfected it yet, but Valve have put more effort into improving TF2 in the 18 months since its release than possibly any game ever before that wasn't an MMO, and they're continuing to do so.MercurySteam said:Valve have put very little effort into improving TF2.
And there is no better feeling in the world than when you get behind a Heavy with the Backburner. Those constant "Critical Hit!" sounds are so addicting, and watching the heavy drop after 2 seconds of that feels so rewarding.Spektre41 said:I'd say Pyro is the easiest offense class to play. You always cause good damage, you're practically unbeatable in turns or close quarters, and it's easy to hit people with the flamethrower.
Yes, because taking out medics doesn't help the team.peachy_keen said:If you want to help your team, don't go Sniper. If you want to play a minigame, then go for it.
In theory... but that's not what happens in practice. In practice you just end up with a sniper battle that doesn't help the team.Credge said:Yes, because taking out medics doesn't help the team.peachy_keen said:If you want to help your team, don't go Sniper. You kill him and then move on to the next target... what seems to be the issue? There is no difference between theory and practice with the sniper.Lukeje said:In theory... but that's not what happens in practice. I would highly suggest rethinking exactly what the role of the sniper is before commenting again, or getting better at aim.Lukeydoodly said:And Lukeje is right, it always ends in sniper vs sniper battles, which are USELESS.
This. The BEST class to play when you get better is spy though, because while it's hard, if you get good at it you can decimate the enemy team. Well-coordinated teams of spies can destroy enemy nests with frightening efficiency.Corpse XxX said:Spy is the hardest, then scout.. So i would recommend start as sniper, that is the one easiest of these selections..
Personally i would recommend pyro, demoman or soldier to start off with if you are completely fresh..
EDIT: To help your team mates the most when a noob, choose medic.. Can almost never get enough medics.. And people will love you for it..
You're both right: the point is to not be a "weighted companion cube sniper".Credge said:I would highly suggest rethinking exactly what the role of the sniper is before commenting again, or getting better at aim.Lukeydoodly said:And Lukeje is right, it always ends in sniper vs sniper battles, which are USELESS.
Sniper battles take no longer than two shots at most. If the first shot misses, the next hits. That's all there is to it. Any sniper who can not do that should not be playing the class.
However, even if a sniper battle lasts ages, a sniper is still doing his job by causing a distraction, even if it is small. He is protecting his medic by taking the focus of the other sniper off of his medic and on to him.
There's more to the class than just aiming, much like there's more to the spy than just backstabbing.
The pyro is mocked for being a simple class, but they are incredibly versatile. Pyros are anti-soldier/CQC ambush units. In a pinch they can also be anti-sniper, due to good flare gun placement disrupting their aim with burn damage. Not to mention they scatter the enemy quickly, so if someone backs them up they can divide and conquer mobs of foes.Lukeydoodly said:Scout is the 'twitch' class, Spy requires huge amounts of luck and Snipers require good aim.
Go Pyro. Just run at them and hold M1 = win.
This, but with all 9. I've only recently realized how to play the demoman: he is not a frontline man, meant only to come forth to decimate sentry nests and camping fools.MercurySteam said:Agreedcorroded said:You don't need one class, you need three to play any map effectively.
Disagree, 4 engies can hold a map easily versus 4 of anything else.MercurySteam said:Agreedcorroded said:You don't need one class, you need three to play any map effectively.
My thoughts exactly on both counts. Thank you!The_root_of_all_evil said:Disagree, 4 engies can hold a map easily versus 4 of anything else.
Pyro is the easiest to learn, but very hard to master. Anyone who says Pyro's are only played by noobs are usually languishing at the bottom of the scoreboard, burning.
