It's a different kind of shooter, it's not a grey/brown game with this dead set seriousness. The game is fun, funny, and is meant to be more loose and balanced.

Maybe you're just going into it with the wrong mindset.
I felt it to be a bit boring
but that's probably because I hadn't gotten use to it since i am also use to the grittiness of current generation graphics
No one says you have to like it. I feel that most people who don't like it or "didn't like the feel" simply go into it with the wrong mindset. The game is more about balance, team work and "strategy" than running and gunning/camping in MW2. I say "strategy" because it's a different kind of run and gun and camping than the bullet games.

Some say it's more simple, but it's just different, I mean yes you have your M1+W pyros, but then you have pryos that make you wear your butt like a hat because they know the class so well. I've seen 1 pyro stop a uber heavy, kill them both and the remaining 2 that were running into the base, how? He knew what he was doing.
yeah, it's more balanced than most other multiplayer games but I'm not use to the comical undertone. and teamwork is usually more necessary.
i'm actually thinking of playing it now

It's a matter of taste I guess. If you've been playing nothing but the most recent Multiplayer games then yes it will \be completely different. But its charm and style is undeniably fantastic, and it really is a team game and hell most balanced class game I've ever played.

The hell are ya waitin' for?! Go play some awesome TF2!

If you want good servers look for SourceOP, they have a bunch of great servers, the ONLY problem with them is they're popular so they're typically packed. Especially the 24/7 2fort instant respawn.

It is about the only multiplayer fps I enjoy (the only other being Golden Eye), mostly because it discourages the lone-wolf maverick behaviour you get from typical competative fps players. Instead, the light mood and colourful excesses encourage people to stop and goof around and enjoy one another's company. Lots of the elements which discourage new players (grenade spamming/sniper freaks etc.) are prevented, so you get the whole gamut of player standards and never feel like a third wheel.

Saying that, I often fail to do anything useful for my team because I am such a liability (taunting in the middle of battle, trying to box enemy who shoot at me etc.). But that never seems to mar my enjoyment. It is one of the few games where being killed will not irritate me (instead I'll often laugh).

It's okay. For teambased multiplayer it's damn good, but I prefer either plain coop or single-player. Still, I have it and I play it every now and again (as in maybe once or twice every second month or so).

Tried the spy once, sucked ass beyond all recognition, went back to sniper and scored some headshots.

Anyway, I got it free with the orange box and it's worth the disk space, so enjoy.

There is one sole reason that TF2 is great.

No, fucking, grenades!, minus Demoman, but his grenades are kinda short range and limited to solely one class.

It's okay, I dislike all the unlockables though.
I dislike the system for attaining the unlockables, but I love what they do to the classes... they change up the way the classes play in such a way that it shifts the meta game.

but if you dislike a living metagame, then I can see why you'd dislike them.

they needed to give Demo Man back his Mirv Grenades... that's all I wanted to see out of the Demo Man Update.

No sword or shield, just give me mirvs.

Yeah, that's the good thing. You go onto on to some FPS i.e Medal of Honor(PSP) and the moment they frag you, you die.

I suck at shooters as I've stated before but TF2 is one I enjoy watching people play. Not sure what it is about it but it's definitely fun to watch.

fragging someone is killing them.

So if someone frags you, of course you die.

TF2 is too cartoonish looking and has no singleplayer mode. For those reasons the game fails for me. It's all a matter of what you personally like though expect plenty of fanboys.
How could it have singleplayer though? It was built around multiplayer.

Also, what's wrong with stylised graphics? Not brown and bloom enough for you? (I kid, I kid)
Firstly look at UT, it was also built around multiplayer (face it, my name clearly indicated I was gonna go for UT) and yet had bots that were as smart, if not smarter then real people. They even taunted you. Thing is I'm talking about the original, released back in I think 1999. So when a game with multiplayer comes out and there's no bots I think I have a reason to be dissapointed.

As for the graphical styles let me put it to you like this. I'm open to all types of graphical styles, from Jet Set Radio Future to ARMA 2. Thing is I don't mind the cartoony styling of JSRF on the grounds that it was not an FPS. For FPS I tend to prefer games like Far Cry 2, Crysis, Cryostasis, Operation Flashpoint 2, ARMA 2. I just have this issue where certain styles work only for certain game types for me.

Part of enjoying TF2 is playing as part of a team, and until you are familiar with the roles the different classes fill on a well balanced team it can seem like you aren't making much of a difference.

So yes, it's fair to say you are ignorant to its awesomeness and probably should 'rtfm'. Maybe not the manual, but at least a couple class guides. I suggest starting with the pyro or heavy.
