Alexius nodded and bid Damien farewell, before turning to head to his own hangar. He was eager to examine the specs Damien had sent him and hopefully be able to put together a battle simulation or two before the fight began. Unfortunately he found the entrance to his hangar crowded with reporters looking for an interview before the big fight. Before they spotted him, Alexius ducked out of sight and pulled out his phone and dialed his head engineer. "Hello? It's me. You got the data right? Good, can you upload the data into the simulator? And try to compile all the data from Damien's previous fights that you can for the simulation as well. I'll be there as soon as I can." Alexius hung up with a sigh and moved towards the hoard of reporters. If he couldn't avoid them he would have to give them what they wanted and get it over with.
Upon seeing him, the reporters immediately rushed to Alexius and began bombarding him with questions. "Mr. Megalos, do you have any comments regarding Lyn's victory?"
"I'm pleased, of course. It's always a pleasure to witness such a spectacular battle."
"And what about your upcoming battle with Damien Lier?"
"Well, I hope to win naturally but my opponent is quite fearsome I'm told so I'm sure I'll have to work for my victory."
"Do you expect this fight to have any effect on either companies stock market value?"
"Well, yes I imagine the victor will see some handsome profits but the loser may see a nice boost as well so long as they put up a good enough fight."
"One last question, are the rumors that you are adopted true?"
Alexius paused as this sort of question never ceased to surprise him. The ways of the media would take some getting used to it seemed. Alexius was getting better at shrugging it off though. "Not even in the slightest. Thank you for your interest and good day to you all." Alexius said before moving past the crowd and into his hangar. "Is everything ready?" He asked his engineer as he made his way to his computer.
"Well, yes but... These specs! Are you sure he's not just messing with you? This thing can't be piloted by a human being, can it?" Alexius understood how the man felt as he read through the data but he knew Damien wouldn't try to trick him like that. "Well, Damien can do it somehow apparently. Looking at this, I'd say the mech is fairly balanced but uses the Meteor Drive to adjust itself based on the situation and it's opponent. Given that, it's only natural that Damien would take a ranged strategy to counter my own melee based strategy. Although the Meteor Drive's other function could give him quite the advantage over me at close quarters. Other than that, my armor and shield should be able to stand up to most of his weapons although I'd rather not test that unnecessarily..." Alexius mused to himself as he scanned the data.
"That's a fairly good analysis for only having read half the data. I'd expect nothing less from my number one student." Alexius heard a familiar voice behind him, and turned to see a woman behind him in a dark black suit with glasses and long black hair down past her shoulders. "What, don't tell me you've forgotten me already! Or maybe my disguise is better than I thought." Lyn said with a grin.
"Still hiding from the press, eh Master Lyn? Well, I can't say I blame you. They can be quite troublesome at times. I suppose you've come to see how I'm doing before the fight?" Alexius replied with a broad smile and turned back to the screen. "Well, it'll be a rough fight, but I think I'll manage. His joints... If I can force him to use the full power of his Meteor Drive and target the joints I think I might just have a shot. I'll need the lance for that no doubt."
Lyn was impressed that Alexius had already come up with a strategy for the fight, but theory and practice were two different things. "This Damien guy sounds like a rough character. But I guess we can't all be fortunate to have an easy preliminary. Your parents wanted me to keep an eye on you this time around you know. But seeing you like this, I don't think you need it. Give em hell out there kid. I'm sure it'll be a match to remember." Lyn said with a wave before turning to leave.
"Ah, thank you Master Lyn! And congratulations on your victory!" Alexius called out to her as she left and returned the wave before continuing his analysis. "An hour and a half left. Plenty of time to run a few simulations and see what I can do to improve my odds." He muttered under his breath as he set up the program and watched the simulated fights, unable to stop his hands trembling with anticipation.
