Put a couple of sleeping pills in his drink and when he is unconscious, you can play to your hearts content. If you are lucky he will never find out you drugged him.
(I am actually being serious here)
Or if he is the reasonable type, you could try talking to him

I was going to suggest super-gluing his hands to the gamepad, that way he has a hard time thrashing you when you steal the game.
But this is better, renders him completely unconscious. Also this way there's nothing you may have to replace.
