Back when I was really into MW2 I saw this GIF of the .44 Magnum's reloading animation on the Call of Duty wiki and thought it was cool, I couldn't get it resized and then another guy did it for me after I sent it to him. Now I'm not really into MW2 anymore but I figure I'll just keep it anyway.
mine is a picture from a comic about sonic the hedgehogs friend tails after he goes nuts and kills all of his friends.....the picture is from the scene when sonic is running away and springs a trap that sices his achilles tendons (rendering him unable to stand up). Tails then comes out of the shadows after eating amy in front of sonic and the comic then ends with the sound of sonic screaming as tails starts to rip him apart bit by bit.....epic!!
I no longer have the comic but im sure its on the internet somewhere if you look hard enough.
Mine's a still-frame from the music video for Warrior's Dance by The Prodigy. It's a creature made out of a discarded cigarette packet.
The shot comes in at about 2:24. I got the special edition of Invaders Must Die back in January 2010 with this music video on DVD. I saw the face shot of the creature and thought it would make a great avatar, especially with its expression. So I took a print screen, cut out some of the background so that it would fit better and made this my avatar.
It's also allowed me to do quite a few amateurish shoops with it, due to its simplicity:
This one I typically add text to for effect, such as my celebratory 5K post avatar:
As well as full-size JPEG versions:
These two were shoops posted The Neo'd in response to certain comments.
And this one I just like because it's serious face. Everyone likes serious face.

Cold Storage has been asking me the same thing, and I'm actually working on it as a side project.
Mine is a clip from the ending of Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Furburt [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Furburt] made it for me because he's awesome like that.
Mine is the head of that SoaD guitarist, found his expression funny, so I chopped it of some picture... Can't bother to find it now... But I remember it was that MTV Dollar Bill Show in 2005.
