well with quest bosses on runescape, many people make them out to be so tough, but i've never had trouble with many of them.

Hmm... Oh, everyone hated that spider boss, what was it... Man at Legs, from Pikmin 2. All of my friends, anyway- they said it was the hardest Pikmin fight ever.
I took him on, scared, tense, exhilarated... and lost a total of five pikmin.
I lost WAY more in that second fight with the queen bulborb. Stupid Larvae eat as fast as they can bite...
Wait WHAT? You only lost five Pikmin?
Frigging hell I was quite an ingenious tactician in that game, I made a point of keeping my Pikmin safe. But how the SMEG did you kill a machine gun wielding spider made of metal without loosing at least 20-50 pikmin? That machine gun of his just wiped out my entire force no matter how hard I tried to direct my pikmin to safety, the final boss seemed fairly relaxing by comparison. Please explain how you killed it.
On replaying it, I will readily admit that it was a fluke. Partially, anyway- the idea still kind of worked the second time. Anyway, the first time I fought it, I knew its attacks were hard to dodge, so I just brought all of my whites, and only took out a few to actually fight it- leaving the others WAY away. Spam some US spray, and after a LONG fight, you should be ok. Still, it is a rather variable fight- he seems to sometimes decide to chill out exactly where you don't want him.
Yeah actually I hear that a small strike squad is best against him, and in fact almost everything in that game. I think the only reason I lost so many when fighting him was that I did not know what to expect and with most bosses it is fairly safe to go all out anyway. Little did I know of the massacre that awaited me.

My sis and I get into this a lot with JRPG's and Action RPG's. It all comes down to the both of us having drastically different 'styles'.

My sister is more of a magic user with defense.

I believe in solid hitting power and the ever-trusty hi-potion/game-breaking regens.

Not really a boss, but Deathclaws in Fallout 3. My friend made it seem like if you got in a fight with one, you were screwed. I randomly ran into one, and took it out rather easily.

Now, I'm not saying I'd want to waltz into Old Olney and challenge all of them at once, but my friend made them seem worse than Behemoths.
At low levels, when you have a relatively weak character and crap gear, they're a real pain (thankfully you rarely run into them at low levels), but a medium to high level character can take them without breaking a sweat.

And technically they are worse than Behemoths; a Deathclaw can take a Behemoth in a one-on-one fight.

Culex in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. He was the Final Fantasy looking boss in Monstro Town.

I remember trying to beat him when the game first came out and it ended in epic failure. Now years older and wiser I was able to pretty much dominate him. All I have to suggest for that fight is Princess with Lazy Shell and it should be a heck of a lot easier.

the final boss in assassins creed i killed him in one move when i jumped him with my hidden blade
Mine's similar - was warned he's tough because he takes you to near-death before the fight. Wasn't told that hitting him with a throwing knife restores your health and gives you less fear of screwing up your instant-kill hidden blade counter. Also gets an extra line of dialogue you otherwise miss out on.

Sanctuary Keeper in Final Fantasy X. Multiple FAQs listed him as being every bit as crazy as the ones before and after him. He might be more devoted to restoring his low 40,000HP and buffing himself intelligently than any JRPG boss ever, but compared to what Seymour and Yunalesca can dish out he's cake. Likewise for the normally fearsome Ultima and Omega Weapons in that game.

Spider Guardian in Metroid Prime 2. Annoying puzzles to be sure, but from the way people carried on you'd think he was a one-shot kill or something. It's probably due to the fact that he's positioned a fair distance from any save point, thus requiring you to unlock the Guardian's sanctum and fight past annoying Mekanobites and Rezbits again every time you die. My nemesis the Boost Guardian has a time limit, is harder to hit, spawns reinforcements, and touching it hurts you far more despite being earlier.

Well, its not really a boss; and its kinda a flipped scenario...

Rock Band 2, The Trees Vault Edition. To me and a friend, we found playing on Guitar that you forget how to play half way through the song (its repetitive). So, we told another friend this, who passed it with ease (followed by mocking). It made me a sad panda.

Xaldin from KH2. I was told he was a bad-ass mofo. Granted, the first attempt I failed, second one I had to call on The King twice, but I was told "OMG HES SO HARD YOU WILL FAIL EVEN WITH THE KING CRY NOOB!". When he wasnt too bad, just annoying.

Also, I know it doesnt count, cause of the repeated times he killed me, but after getting the gist of the fight, the Ice Titan in KH1 wasnt that hard.

It's impossible to genuinely gauge the difficulty of a boss due to two factors:

The first factor is simply that different people have different obstacles. The OP said that he has a hard time with Airman, yet even back when I was a kid he was never hard for me. Meanwhile there have been plenty of times when a boss is considered easy, yet I had a hard time fighting him.

The second factor is ego. Some gamers, regardless of how hard of a time they had beating a boss, will always claim that he was easy. Sometimes it's that they forgot how hard of a time they had beating the boss those first few times, and sometimes they just want to make themselves sound better than the other guy. "What's that? You think that boss is hard? Tch, he's easy. I can kill him with no problem." Other times they just don't know the definition of the word "challenge", and label anything they can beat as "easy". Nevermind that there's tricky timing to kill this boss, the fact that you have the timing down automatically means the boss is just easy.

Between those two factors, you will never know how hard it is to defeat a boss until you actually fight him. Was the boss harder than you expected because it requires a skill you don't have, or maybe everyone you heard from was just puffing-up their egos while bragging about how they consider this "hard" game to be easy (Ninja Gaiden bashing is a classic example of this).

People said that RAAM in GOW could not be beat alone on Insane!
They were wrong!.. Its doable!.. Just takes a few tries(over 25) and aloooot of patience!
Really? I honestly found him to be ridiculously easy. Not the first time through, but I have it down to a science now that I can beat him in 30 seconds by myself, and 12 seconds with a perfect partner.

Um, other than that, I can only think of opposite examples, where bosses are waaaaay harder than I heard.
On easy.normal, hard mode sure, but on Insane?
Yes, actualy, that was what my partner and I got 12 seconds on. Sniper+Torque bow, perfect consecutive headshots. Torque bow gets rid of the krill and does massive dmg, sniper headshots do massive dmg any way, both weapons perfect reloads and no misses at all.
Insane mode only changes how much dmg he does to. you, any health increaseis minimal at best

A hard boss for me which I cant beat for the life of me is the final Boss in Prototype
I found a glitch which lets the army whittle down his HP but that last Minute and 30 seconds is impossible to kill him..

Bit more than just a boss here but I had a lot of people tell me Bioshock was a hard game and I breezed through it.

Then again those people also said it had an awesome stoyline and was the 'BEST GAME EVAR!' and I don't think it was those either.

I said it once AND ILL SAY IT AS MANY TIMES AS SOMEONE BRINGS IT UP, the border lands final boss, i busted my ass trying to get to the vault, i jump once unload 13 shells into its face, win game. Also in MGS4 i got to Vamp and he said he was annoyingly hard but, i managed to impress him with my bamf gun and and quick execution of syringe injection. not a big one but i started getting worried his first resurrection but there was nothing to worry about, one clip of machine gun fire knocked him down and one shotgun blast knocked him back also.

Same here. My friend made Deathclaws out to be some sort of unstoppable badasses who run at the speed of light and can kill you in one hit.
I encountered my first one, and was disappointed.
