That game you bought as an afterthought that totally rocks.

The Darkness, I had been told that Dead Rising was good so went to Blockbuster to buy it second hand. It was £8 or two-for-£10 so picked up The Darkness and loved the premise of the blurb so got that with it.

After finishing it and loving it I google'ed and youtube'ed it to see what other people thought of it and came across the Zero Punctuation review of it back when Mr. Croshaw had just been picked up by The Escapist that by extension introduced me to this community. It took me a while before I actually bothered to register as I tend to lurk and leech from boards and never sign up but liked it that much.

heroes of Might and Magic 3. I had no idea what turn-based strategy was. I've yet to find another game I can play for 10 hours straight and not get burned out.
This right here. Some one got that game for me when I was a kid, and by this point many years later I must have clocked in more then a few hundred hours

Okami for PS2. I saw it in HMV and I was attracted by the box art. So my boyfriend bought it for me and I have lost many, many hours of my life to this game!

Also Call Of Duty MW2. I wasn't going to buy it cos I hate games that are hyped to death, but I worked in a game store over Xmas and could get staff discount so I thought 'why not?'
It was so much more fun than I thought it would be!

Morrowind. I had played Oblivion and had read a bit about Morrowind and thought to myself "Yeah, it sounds alright." So I decided to get it eventually and... wow.

Borderlands, Red Faction Guerilla and Just Cause 2.

No piss, these actually lasted more than one day's worth of playing (well, to complete the story at least). Really worth saving up for.

Animal Crossing Wild World

I've spent so many hours on that game since it came out (though I haven't played it in a long time, everybody probably thinks he's in a coma by now).

Ironically I was looking at stores to try and find Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow and when they didn't have it decided to buy it instead. Best decision ever. An amazing game.

Shadowrun

For 10$ I was expecting less, but I liked the demo and figured I'd get it.

It is awesome, I'd say it's worth more then 10$

"Advance Wars" for the GBA.

I was desperate for a game for a long trip. Nothing peaked my interest. Saw this was a strategy game, saw that it was turn-based.. Hoped for something a bit more RTS, but there was nothing
so boom. Bought it.

And could not believe what an incredible gaming experience it was.

The latest incarnations on the DS were basically the decider for me to even buy the system.
