My favorite is Spoony. I follow him on his own site all the time and will watch his stuff relentlessly.

As for the actual TGWTG crew...

Nostalgia Chick and Oan Citizen are probably my favorites. I actually *learn* from them, and find the education entertaining.

Nostalgia Critic, Brad Jones/CS, Todd, Obscurus Lupa, Linkara, and Diamanda Hagan are all that I find enjoyable but won't go out of my to catch up on all of their projects or new work. Infomercialism is interesting.

The rest are pretty bland to me. I used to watch That Sci-Fi Guy, but he's basically stopped and it always irked me how he was great at having a bunch of Fiction background but very low on the Science background.

I cannot stand Phelous. Either his voice or his mannerisms. He grates on me every second he's on screen and his cameos will actively prevent me from watching reviews.

Along with others, Spoony is a great reviewer, although no longer associated with TGWTG. I actively check up for a new Todd in the Shadows review, those are pretty great. I'm glad to see Freeman's Mind on the site. I watch Angry Joe's reviews on YouTube. I think those and Nostalgia critic are the only ones I keep up on.

When Sage first started Anime Abandon he was actually pretty good, I found, but it very quickly devolved into 'shocked reaction at strange shocking things' and it felt like the shows were doing 95 percent of the work for him. His End of Eva review highlighted it, when it gave him the opportunity for both proper critical analysis and humour and it devolved into some weird, self-indulgent story thing. None of the reviewers have ever done 'story' well but that was particularly bad.
Sage's "bit" at the end of that review was purposefully self-indulgent, and was meant to be a parody of the final scenes of EoE, in that he considers them self-indulgent of the director Hideaki Anno and over the top. Whilst I agree with a lot of Sage's views on Evangelion, and overall enjoy watching his reviews, I must admit I don't agree with his opinions on anime in general.

If you've seen his Macross Plus review, he sums it up as the greatest anime ever made without really going in depth as to why in relation to characters/stories/shots used, and after some crude jokes goes on a rant about how anime will "never be the same" as his nostalgic golden days of the 90s, which comes off very biased. As someone who likes a lot of current anime, I hope to debate this with him at the upcoming London Anime Con in two weeks.

Haven't seen their stuff in a while, but.

I used to watch Nostalgia Critic, but it slowly devolved into screaming and yelling. But on the man himself, Doug Walker, he's a guy who knows his stuff for the most part. Though I'm still wondering why the hell he disliked District 9 (not that it was groundbreaking).

I like Film Brain.
Linkara is good.
Angry Joe is alright.
Seen some of JesuOtaku and liked it.
Spoony was/is fun (when he wasn't/isn't screaming or excessively complaining).

Like:
Nostalgia Critic- I like his more straight forward reviews, where he just says his thoughts. I'm not a huge fan of the ones with all the wacky subplots and crossovers.
Blockbuster Buster- I like his reviews. He's pretty funny and also seems to know what he's talking about.
Film Brain- He's one of my favorite people on the site. Also I like that he goes into detail about why the movie isn't that good. I'm okay with the way he talks. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't be shocked if he has a speech impediment, several people I know that have weird word delivery or emphasis are trying to hide a speech impediment.
Todd in the Shadows- He is the most consistent person on the site. The others in my opinion can be hit or miss sometimes but he consistently delivers funny reviews. I also like his "One Hit Wonder" segments, those are usually very well researched and inforrmative.
Rap Critic- I like him as well, my only complaint is that he posts fairly infrequently.

Dislike
Nostalgia Chick- I actually like her older reviews even though I heard that she herself doesn't. Her newer reviews are a bit too preachy. Like her review of The Host, it was too dry for me.
The Rest of the Site- Haven't really watched anything by them. I'm not into anime or most video games so I doubt I would have any interest.

On Topic: I occasionally watch something random on TGWTG, they still have some decent content.

+Oancitizen
Great delivery, informative, usually witty and the films he reviews are "artsy" so they're quite bizarre even compared to most of what goes up on TGWTG.

+Bennet
Anime Abandon is great. And this is from someone who watches little to no anime. His regular reviews are boring and sometimes inaccurate but never to the point where it warrants outrage.

+Nash
Good delivery, much less "blunt-force humor" as I tend to see on the site. Though I've started to tire of regular show. There's only so much crazy I can ingest each week before it starts to be less funny and more depressing.

+Todd (when he actually gets around to producing content anyway)
He has a good temperament, delivery and writing. Not the best, but quite enjoyable in a way that doesn't annoy me. (most reviewers on this list I eventually tire of listening to. Not Todd for some odd reason.)

+Angry Joe. Not for his delivery (which is still pretty meh and often annoying) but because he is one of the most honest game reviewers out there. What he claims has regularly stood up to my personal experience and scrutiny even if I differ from him in preference for some things.

+Linkara occasionally kills some time for me; I queue up his stuff and play it back later when I'm waiting on something to finish for/at work. His mannerisms eventually annoy (he's a good singer too)

+Paw
I loved his King's Quest Lets Plays and Music Game series (short-lived as it was).
I'd tune into his stuff more often if he just made it..

+Diamanda Hagan
The Mistress has some really really fun and cathartic reviews. I don't really fit into her newer demographic (because I'm a straight white guy, not hatin' I just can't relate) but I respect her backbone, her style and her love of the obscure. Plus, she and Oancitizen play off of each other brilliantly when they collaborate.
(and her Twatty Who series is pure catharsis)

I don't like:
-Phelous (post 2010).
His series on "Pulse Films" was pretty good, and between him and Snob, I think they watch most of the truly awful films on the site. But then he just started whining, constantly and apart from Birdemic, he didn't really produce anything I liked.

-Lupa. In her reviews, her delivery sucks and her jokes are generally awful. She hasn't been all that good since joining the site, but I did like her performance in season 2 of Ninja the Mission Force.

I like a good chunk of the site, but due to the shitty ad experience with Blip, I've stopped watching pretty much everything but NC, Linkara, some Todd, and Nash. I'm having trouble thinking of others.
Ever since they rolled out the new ad-code, it's been tripping balls.
Like, ads will just loop audio and hang half the time; (or do both, which results in the audio sounding like it's singing rounds of the same audio. It's so weird.)

I've been locked in an infinite ad-loop a couple times, too. The same ad will play and play and I'll never get to the video. A few times the ads have failed to load and not for the reason they're concerned about. Just, I assume, because their code is shit.

They're so concerned with people not watching the ads they've made the ads and the content behind them unwatchable.

The only saving grace in all of this is when an ad loops or derps-up, after the set amount of time a little button appears in the upper left corner of the player that says "Skip Ad" which should load the video, but I've had occasions where it doesn't load at all.

I just assumed it was broken, because it never works for me.

I'll have to remember to try again, though, if it works sometimes.

The only thing that's consistent about it is its inconsistency.
I wished I knew what they were doing to the player that fucks it up so badly in coding; it's the main reason I stopped bothering with most of their site (and a good thing Spoony, Brad Jones, and Hagan all have their own sites off of Blip).

I've listed my favorite That Guy performers in the past and don't feel like doing so again now, so please forgive me if all I offer is responses to things others have said:

The Lyre said:
The lynching of the Spoony One really put me off the site as a whole.
I don't know if you're referring to the fan reaction or to Channel Awesome's actions, but just in case it's the former--and feel free to ignore me if you already knew this--you do know Mr. Antwiler has said he wasn't fired, right? That he was quitting because he didn't want his show hitched to Demo Reel?

On that topic...

RJ 17 said:
Actually Doug was forced to fire him from the site because he made a rape joke on Twitter and the red-headed chick (I forget her name, she was the Disney Princess in Suburban Knights) took offense to it.

No. These are both factually incorrect. Watch Mr. Antwiler's commentary on the first episode of to Boldly Flee; the video can be found on his website. In the commentary, Mr. Antwiler explicitly says he chose to quit because he disagreed with the business choices the channel was making.

Nostalgia Chick used to be good but she's dedicated this year to not reviewing films and doing those pointless "Fifty Shades of Green" episodes.
According to her Facebook page, she's on hiatus because she's having health problems (I forget if she said it's a mental health problem, but I kind of think she did), so presumably she'll go back to reviews once she's healthy.

I know these points have been addressed already, but I went to all the trouble of copying and pasting all my responses into a single post before I noticed that, so I don't want to waste the effort by not clicking the Post button.

Oh really? If that's true I hope she gets better soon, she's usually good enough for me to rewatch and enjoy.

As far as I know, yeah, that's the case. I don't have Facebook myself, but that's what was copied and pasted onto the thatguywiththeglasses.com forums when the question came up, and I have no reason to call it a lie. If it is true, it would actually explain a few things, like how she seemed to be drinking herself to half-drunk in her last eight videos or so.

That's what he claims, but many people followed his twitter feed when everything went down and even if he deleted it many fans relayed it. This just sounds like self-justification in hindsight.

To be honestly I know I said I thought he was great, but the worship of him goes a bit far. His new stuff on his own site is terrible, just him screaming at his co-reviewers (Bennet or whoever is with him) to shut up and that their opinios are invalid. I've started to realize his web persona and real-life personality aren't really that different in the rage department.

I suddenly wonder if we're talking about the same thing. I don't deny that he has mental problems or that he expressed them on Twitter--I saw the posts he made telling all his friends to fuck off--but I am saying the Twitter war was not related to his departure from Channel Awesome. It is related to his suspension, obviously, but I have no reason to call him a liar when he says his choice to quit was based on self-interest related to the site's business practices.

I think everything NC does is a big bag of shite, I can't stand his videos. My ex used to watch his videos before bed and I'd have to sit downstairs for a bit because I couldn't stand the screeching. He seems like a really nice guy though.
I couldn't stand Spoony either, and he acts like a completely arrogant prick.

I think I saw a couple of Nostalgia Chick videos and fairly enjoyed them. Not sure who does that 5 second reviews but they weren't bad. People tell me to watch Linkara because I like comics but I can't be bothered ;_;

Annnnnd this is another example of why I personally prefer to read topics from the most recent page to the older ones: it keeps from making uncalled for (simply for lack of a better phrase) comments like this. Had you done that, you would have known that I've already had the situation explained to me a couple times, and have even already been told to watch that.

Furthermore, had you read some of my later comments (or really even the rest of the one that you quoted) you would have seen that I fully admit that - new as I am to Doug's website - I could very easily be mistaken, and that I was just relaying what I had heard from the friend that introduced me to the site in the first place.

Just saying I wish more people would either start from most recent and go backwards (so as to realize "Well this is a conversation that doesn't need my help to resolve it") or at very least to read the entire conversation to make sure that it hasn't, in fact, been resolved yet and thus would require your input. I just personally prefer the former.

I only routinely watch Spoony of the three, but I'm appreciative of it. I do watch DH from time to time, but not enough to make a huge difference.

I never thought I'd be so appreciative of YouTube. It screws up, but far more consistency.

Heh. That's kind of ironic, since you had read my entire post, you'd have seen the bit where I said I know other people had already corrected your misapprehension.
