I'm not sure of the album, but since Hellogoodbye started to use Ukeleles more often, the songs they write inspire me to write.

In Your Honor was an absolutely incredible two-disc album: the first CD was your average, rocking Foo Fighters, while the second featured some amazing acoustic songs. Pretty awesome mix, if you ask me.

Them Crooked Vultures debut album also blew me away, though not as much as their concert. In fact, maybe they underproduced the album on purpose to make them literally better live. Either way, the album still rocked.

Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory by Dream Theater. That album has remained my favorite album of all time since I first heard it. It's so good I can't just listen to one song. I have to hear the entire album.
I lived that album when I first heard it. I got completely involved in the story, the references, the clever way the music ties in perfectly with the pace, mood and themes of the plot... At one point I attempted a bit of fan-fic (my first and last attempt) to convert the story into prose. It didn't work out, but I still love that album to this day.
Good to see that there's more Dream Theater fans here. Even better to see that there's Dream Theater fans who are more obsessive then me.

Blackbird by Alter Bridge

From the aggressive metal style riffs of White Knuckles and Ties That Bind to the soaring harmonies of Watch Over You and Blackbird, this album remains one that I can listen to from start to finish uninterrupted.

David Bowie Outside. It's a rather dark and disturbing album if you can catch the story in the songs. But, when I got it I was sick with a really intense fever and it seemed to sooth my mind. It's still my fave album.

Nirvana's In Utero and Nevermind tie for each other's spot.
Nevermind is more accessible to music tastes, and I heard that first and that started my long road down to music snobbery. But In Utero is a much more mature album thematically and stylistaclly, and I also got it when I was older. So eh, I love them both equally.

Weezer's Pinkerton. Just great all around, and edgier than the blue ablum. Not to mention most of the songs' basic message applies to most everyone's lives.

Ok Computer. It's fucking Ok Computer!

As you can tell I'm kinda a 90s fangirl

My most recent Album loves though are Red of Tooth and Claw by Murder by Death and Hospice by The Antlers

hah might sound a bit gay but basically, the album that set the ball rolling for me to get into better music was Count Your Blessings by Bring Me The Horizon. First time I heard it, my mind was absolutely blown. Before I heard that, I was listening to pop and whatnot.

& now it's Happiness by Dance Gavin Dance.
or their Self-titled Deathstar album.
Both of them have absolutely mind-blowing songs. The lyrics are weird but are often metaphors for other much grander, complicated things to do with life in general. Plus the vocals just send shivers down my spine.

Traditional Japanese music + turntablism + cut & paste + electro + hip-hop.

Have a listen.

Well the one that changed my life was Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden. Turned me on to true metal. The best album ever is... hmm... Powerslave because it's the only album I've ever liked every single song on.

Abbey Road - The Beatles.
Ironically, this was their last album, but the first one I ever listened to. It led to a lifelong love of their incredible music.
No, Let It Be was their last album.

OT: For me, it'd have to be The Wall by Pink Floyd. Completely changed what I thought you could do with music.

Mine would have to be Sailing the Seas of Cheese by Primus. Easily the greatest piece of music I have ever listen to. Oh, also Mr. Bungle's self-titled album because it is fucking insane.
