What is "That One Boss" for you? That boss that you love to fight for whatever reason. Either the music, the stage, the presentation, the mechanics of the fight, the boss itself, or whatever else.

I have to say my all time favorite boss has got to be Legion from any of the Castlevania games. The boss is just entertaining and slightly frightening if you think about how horrifying this thing would be in real life. It's hard for me to describe how epic I think this boss is and why I hold a very special place for him in my heart.

Liquid Ocelot (or rather, beating Liquid out of Ocelot) at the end of MGS4
Old man Akuji in Saint's row 2 comes in close second.

I loved the Flamelurker from Demon's Souls.

The music was amazing and the grunts and growls coming from the boss itself made it fucking intense.

Also, Joachim Armster from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence was great because of the music. (ignore the terrible dialog at the beginning)

I know it's cliche, but I love the fight with Dark Link from Ocarina of Time.
Even if you're not a fan of Zelda games in general, you gotta admit this is cool.

Krauser from Resident Evil 4

It was the first boss fight where it wasn't you against an impossible foe, but the clash of the titans where you go toe-to-toe, man against man, in a fight of who's more badass atop a tower that's set to fucking explode. The build up made it the ultimate showdown if you ask me.

In Mass Effect, the fight with Saren on Virmire. The bomb's ticking down, your nemesis has arrived to do you in, and you have to defeat him quickly. The battle didn't take very long, but the atmosphere was awesome.

On a side note the boss from you have to burn the rope was entertaining.

Anything that I can kill in one shot with a rocket launcher?

I kid.

I loved the Darth Malek fight from KOTOR I. Truly an epic final battle. Also, I really enjoyed Ansem from Kingdom Hearts, even though he was hard as hell and it took me forever to beat him. Still a fun fight.

I hated that boss with a passion first time I did it

OT, the flying one in Shadow of the Colossus. It was just slightly more awesome than the others
And also the final fight in Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 days. Dual wield ftw! :)

Favorites:
- in WarioWare Smooth Moves, the boss battle where you have to dance in sync with the beat. Just an all around amusing and therapeutic sequence.
- in Lineage 2, Frintezza. Lots of chaotic PVP going in, and even more chaos on the inside with limited party setup.

Most Begrudging:
- in Drakensang, Mother Ratzinsky. Early on they send you on a "Rats in the Cellar" quest which turns into a five-tiered dungeon with hundreds of rats, and the final boss just decimates the party. Easily the hardest "rat boss" and it's still the hardest foe I've come by, even 15-20 hours later.

I think in general, boss fights just don't live up to expectations. Too often they're just not big enough, not challenging enough, not dramatic enough, and not prolonged enough. That or they're just so weird compared to the core gameplay that I develop instant dislike of the premise.
