So, at school, sometimes I talk about games, not in a group, just with another person or two, call me a nerd, whatever.
There is this one little douche though, that whenever I say something he disagrees with, or doesn't like, decides that he needs to pop in with his opinion.
I got two examples in recent memory:
I was talking to a friend about GTA4, because I was stuck on one part, and he pops in and says "Saints Row 2 is better dumbshit, and trade in your faggity PS3 for a 360."
The other one is that whenever a friend asks me about PSN down (his wi-fi is out so he asks me about it,) he pops in and says something usually like "Xbox Users have a right to laugh, PS3 is full of little kids."
On top of this, he always uses insults that you would hear on Xbox Live, and is an ignorant Halo: Reach fanbro that thinks graphics make a game (He actually said this).
So who's that "one guy" that's "more important" than everyone else?

Dunno who he is but make sure you hurl a bus at him. =P

Shame though, Halo Reach seemed like a lot of fun when i tried it at a friend's house.

Oh, and try reading the product reviews at Gamestop.ca for PS3 and 360s.

People there make me weep for humanity...

I hate those.

There's one guy who, whenever we're debating/arguing/fighting about ANYTHING, he'll just stop making any points of any relevance and just say "Well, it's just because you're not a gamer, consoletard." Despite the fact that next to my 360 is a large gaming PC which is actually slightly better spec than his.

There's also the PS3 fanboy who I don't even know the name of, but was constantly asking if my Xbox had red ringed yet. Right up until PSN went down AND his console YLODed within about 2 days of each other. I call it karma.

I find the best thing to do is either ignore them, or tell them to stop being a prick.

Slap him in the face and tell him the next time you want his opinion you'll beat it out of him.

I play WoW, and it is full to the brim of people like that.

Case in point: the PvP community. And yes, there are individuals on my server who do this.

But it's the same old garbage. "haha u run RLS? lol why dont you roll with something that takes skill"

"rofl go have fun killing ur dragons"

"oh im sorry, is some 1800 scrub going to call me out rofl get 2200 and lrn2play"

It makes you want to commit violent acts of bloody rage against small, innocent people. I recommend starting with your little friend.

About every male at where I work. The same happens to me, but they seem to be about THAT all the time, if you aren't with it then you aren't good enough. This might even extend to the females too, a terrible thing to know.

I know 2 people like this but maybe worse. They always have a better opinion. Always have a better story. Always lie through their teeth. They retell the same story in the same day with different details. They act like loud drunks when sober. People like this really need castration.

The only person I can really think of in real life would be me. Online, every other person is that douche, but probably to everyone who knows me, I am that one douche. I just can't help it they're not thinking properly. They really need to listen to reason. Damn it.

Every time I talk about two of my most played games right now - Team Fortress 2 and Minecraft, some prick thinks I'm talking about an MMORPG and calls me a sad pitiful flab of flesh. I tell him they're both FPSs, whereas he says they're not, when I convince them they are, he's convinced he's played them and they're both absolute shitstorms. He calls TF2 unrealistic and unfun (my time spent on there says otherwise) and Minecraft... he's still convinced it's an MMORPG.

One day, I'm going to take a copy of TF2 and shove up that empty space where his brain should be so he gets the point.

Yes, some of my acquaintances tend to hastily engage in the pointless, age old, PSX vs XBOXY conflict. Maybe it's just a macho thing? "I'M RIGHT!" "NO, I AM!" 'You're both wrong, dear god just be quiet.'

But my ego is bigger, therefore I am right.
It's common fanboy logic.

Cut his fingers off until he agrees with you.

My response in that situation is to inform them that I am Jesus Christ and their opinion is invalid.

Tell him he's still at school and is therefore still a little kid.

Or just copy your average Xbox live user and call him a '******'. Of course this only works if your voice hasn't broken.

I've got the sinking feeling that I am that "guy" - at least in the mind of many people, especially my friends.

I think they all feel insecure around me because I know a great deal of things, I can argue effectively, and do so for fun - I use argue in the literal sense, I am a geek AND an academic, who majored in social-psychology - so I have a tendency to have an opinion on everything based on actual thinking, experience, and a certain degree of expertise that I can back up, and it intimidates those around me. They all feel that everything I say is challenging their views and trying to prove my intellectual might, when it's more the case of just sharing my insane love of knowledge.

This has lead more than a few people to be unreasonable around me. I'm not exactly the most social-ept person on the planet, so I tend to ignore a lot of the social norms and miss quite a lot of social cues. Like talking in turns, for example.

Did you know that Geek behaviour - and there has been a distinction between Geeks and Non-Geeks in their behavours - share a lot in common with Dyslexia and Autism? They both affect the area of the brain known as the Working Memory, which deals with being able to process information at speed at once - a mixture of the CPU and RAM in a PC, for example. In dyslexics, the capacity of Working Memory is reduced, which impacts their ability to retain information and thus the speed with which they can process it, and the things they can do at once. Autism, on the other hand actually affects the quality of the Working Memory, in that it actually works better and faster, taking in more information over a shorter period of time. it's like overclocking your CPU, and it can result in the human equivalent of overheating as well.

Thus, Geeks are essentially a PC with an overclocked processor with a reduced RAM capacity. great for specialist tasks with a stripped down interface, but stick Windows on them, and they'll be molten slag within minutes the moment you try and DO anything. The interface is, of course, social skills and socialising - something which Geeks are notoriously bad at. They come across as rude and agressive, obnoxious and arrogant. In truth, they just aren't bothering with the social niceties that non-Geek society expects. They don't have the capacity or inclination for it - it's a distraction at best, and completely debilitating at worse. It's of no coincidence that the fastest rising condition in Geeks is Aspergers' Syndrome, which is essentially the medical term for Geek behaviour.

Check this out for more: http://www.fantasymaps.com/stuff/fanspeak.html

So, yeah, I'm that guy - or girl rather.

One comes into our store all the time. Funny thing is, all the games he does like are shite. Go figure.

I just ignore him.

Oh, thought this thread was about Jimquisition.

Okay, so about your friend: I thought they called those people assholes. And then they went off to do something else. Not sure how much thought this warrants putting in exactly.

Yeah, I know one who keeps trying to contact me even though I really don't want to talk to me again. Back when we were in school I would be talking to a friend about Final Fantasy and this douche jumps in and says "RPGs SUCK! Real gamers play Call of Duty!"

Then of course we would be talking about Resident Evil and then he would jump in with "Resident Evil is for posers! Dead Space is best and scariest game ever!"
