It's because of people like that that I look over threads like "wich iz betr ps3 or 360????"

As for you, it seems your problem can be solved with three simple words...

Actually, 'that guy' kind of sounds like me. You may want to be sure he just doesn't have a very misanthropic and coarse sense of humor, as I do. If he's serious, just go up to one of the jocks in your school and tell him that the kid was talking shit about his girlfriend. Or mother, depends on if said jock actually *has* a girlfriend. He may not know why he gets beat up, but that doesn't mean you can't loudly mention it every time he's an ass to you. ;)

Also, I'd wager the PS3 and Xbox have equal numbers of noisy squeaky man-children, anonymity is the real problem there, pay that argument no mind -- and good graphics do make a game, but no more so than good story. Sometimes you want to work your brain to figure out a fantastic twist ending, other times all you really want is some fantastic eye candy.

Ignorance can be bliss. No one can argue with you if you just say your bit and be silent. They may delude themselves into thinking your silence is their victory but their failure to convert you to their opinion is a victory no douche can take away from you.

I just ignore people. I know this isn't the option for everyone but this is my advice. Works for me.

trade in your faggity PS3 for a 360

I'm sorry but did no one else find this hilarious? That sounds like 10 million different people on Xbox Live.

Smack this douche, then visit his mom.

So, at school, sometimes I talk about games, not in a group, just with another person or two, call me a nerd, whatever.
There is this one little douche though, that whenever I say something he disagrees with, or doesn't like, decides that he needs to pop in with his opinion.
I got two examples in recent memory:
I was talking to a friend about GTA4, because I was stuck on one part, and he pops in and says "Saints Row 2 is better dumbshit, and trade in your faggity PS3 for a 360."
The other one is that whenever a friend asks me about PSN down (his wi-fi is out so he asks me about it,) he pops in and says something usually like "Xbox Users have a right to laugh, PS3 is full of little kids."
On top of this, he always uses insults that you would hear on Xbox Live, and is an ignorant Halo: Reach fanbro that thinks graphics make a game (He actually said this).
So who's that "one guy" that's "more important" than everyone else?
I know 2 people like this but maybe worse. They always have a better opinion. Always have a better story. Always lie through their teeth. They retell the same story in the same day with different details. They act like loud drunks when sober. People like this really need castration.
I know someone similar. Problem is he is a movie snob. Hates American Patriotism (Hes from India) but decided to go down to Ground Zero dressed as Captain America in his retarded not great "costume". Bitched me out on Facebook because I disagreed with his opinion about his "negative" attention to the WBC. Got a few of HIS friends that are just acquaintances to another friend who don't like her very much to have a talk with her. He has currently thrown three friends (I am included in this number) that has thrown under a bus because we are of no use to him any longer.

I personally do believe that Saints Row is better than GTA, but I accept that people disagree with me on that.

Honestly, I know people like this. Hell, often I AM people like this. I have a bit of cinema snobbery and sometimes I'll admit it...I'm a bit of a douche.

Sadly there isn't really any particular way to deal with someone like this. The fact is he's got it completely backwards in that more people 17 and under own 360's rather than PS3's but of course you can't tell him that because he'd probably throw a hissy fit of hot coffee right in your face.

There's an old saying that you should never argue with an idiot because they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Just look at it this way. I assume you're in High School based on your post, a few more years at most, and you'll probably never have to see the guy again.

I had a roommate who was an asshole with no tact at all. The worst part is he's good Biology and especially physics. Whenever I joked around, he went all "scientific guy" on me just to make himself look smarter.

And that's just one of his douche factors about opinions.

Douche like that can be easily silenced. Don't fight fire with fire by lowering yourself to his level. Fight fire with water. Kill his reasoning and he'll think twice before being a douche to you.

I would just like to take the time to apologize to all who have been called faggy or something for owning a PS3 by a 360 owner, just remember PS3: You don't red ring.

Tell him to wear his headphones when playing any online game ever. He'll realize that Xboxlive has no shortage of children or dicks.

Well there are assholes in this world, so I don't know... bust his nose?

As for opinions, if you share them publicly then get ready to have them contested, alot of people just share them to get approval from others, but are not ready for the fact most people wont agree.
Your point of view does not equal others, it is only yours.

All humans need to win, be right, be recognised and avoid change. Each of us demonstrates behaviours around these four needs in varying intensities. What you have described seems par for the course for the first three of those.

This boy seems to lack the social grace to understand when it is appropriate to engage in these behaviours without invitation, or the kind of language to use. Also he seems to lack the self-awareness to understand that he can become a better person by listening to and thinking about other people's opinions from time to time.

Some growing up to do methinks.

Not only can I relate (with some exceptions) but that was also the most interesting thing I've read this workday (and that's saying a lot since my job consists 80 % of reading stuff).

The exceptions with me is that I'm sort of hesitant to voice my opinions unless I'm really familiar with my company. I used to study philosophy (another exception) which is probably why when I do voice my opinions other people find it hard to handle and somewhat condescending.

I do not do it on purpose but I guess that fits perfectly to your metaphora.

Man, I really dislike the people who lash out at me whenever I mention that I like Halo. It's shocking how these people can spring on people like a pack of hyenas and insult them to high heavens with incredible degrees of aggression over minor things and still act like THEY are the mature party.
Honestly.

Also the other group that's given me a lot of trouble are the people who can't get over the fact that I like Ashley from Mass Effect. I've heard every single 'she's racist' or 'she's religious' or 'she's a *****' comments a million times as well as a few more creative ones. I've also heard 'get Miranda man dat a$$' 'Dude Liara is the only option' 'nah man go Tali!'.

In fact pretty much all the other female love interest fans kept insulting me and telling me why my choice was crap, why one of my favorite characters was awful and why the one they liked was the only real option.
Everyone that is, except the Jack fans...

... No prizes for guessing which one was the only other female love interest I ever tried besides Ashley.

Incidently, I have quite a few friends who are fans of Tali, Liara and Miranda respectively. So I don't want to insult the entire fanbases and/or generalize, just saying that I've run into my fair share of jerks.

Coming from Britain which is tied for first place with France for 'most arrogance per square metre', I and every British person I've ever met has had this. On Ventrilo, I once argued with a guy from the midlands about how the 2hp recovery per second on all these special green level 90 boots were useless and my custom npc boots were better than them. This arguement went on for an hour and a half with no actual result, although I won the arguement because he stopped first.

I also get told every time I complain of a computer issue (graphical lag, loud cpu fan etc) by an American friend that "it's because you have a Packard Bell", I then have to remind him that only the case is made by packard bell, the CPU is ATI, the graphics card is ATI, the motherboard is ATI, the RAM is budget generiram, the PSU is some brand I can't remember, the Hard Drive is generic, the monitor is japanese, the keyboard is microsoft, the mouse is logitek (I think), and he just repeats it's a "packard bell".

I also had this happen:
FriendymcChumbuddy: Are you playing the Dragon Age 2 demo?
Me: It's the full game
Fr: Why'd you buy it it sucks?
Me: I like it, it's fun
Fr: Nope it sucks

FriendymcChumbuddy is now playing Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

But I'm just as guilty as other people probably.

Sorry man, he won that argument. Stopping is the better thing to do because it's useless to argue against an unfounded contradictory position.

I can't view videos >_> (college computer atm)

I won the arguement, doesn't matter how much evidence you can produce, how intelligent you are, it all comes down to who leaves, sleeps or dies first. Arguements can end no other way.
