Do you have one? No just a game, but THAT one. The one that's not bad but you regret buying?
Like, Sonic Chronicles.

Bayonetta. I didn't regret it. I put over 60 hours into the game and enjoyed it completely. It's a good, fun game with a silly story.

Modern Warfare 2.

Honestly, for a campaign that short and a multiplayer that unfulfilling, the money would have been better off going towards a rental.

Van Hellsing. First, and last, movie game I bought.

Also, Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires.

I bought it on like the last week of school holidays, didn't get around to playing it for like 5 days when school had started back up again, beat it in 4 hours and couldn't get to EB to return it :( (I lived like 70 km away and there was no Public Transport at all.)

No seven day return for me. I had to trade it in and missed out on like, $50.

Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo. I really thought it would be like Advanced Adventure and it turned out that I was wrong.

Lost Planet. Horrible and clunky controls, I bought it because the world really appealed to me.

Each to their own, I have spent many many hours on that game and love it dearly (though I DID rent it first, just incase) May I suggest playing as a soldier the first time through if the combat irks you, but if its the sheer amount of dialogue, story and text you're on your own there. I totally geeked out over it, whilst my family looked on and went "but...you're spending all your time talking?"

*Shakes* BLASPHEMER!!! (JK, no harm intended)

Anyway, I really never rent games. I just don't buy them until lots of reviews come out and I make up my mind about whether it's going to be worth it or not.

Infinite Undiscovery, Blue Dragon, Mercenaries 2, Just Cause 2, Condemned, and Metroid Prime Trilogy. I normally like JRPGs, but never got into the first two. The next three are fun but I never play thanks to the fact more interesting stuff keeps popping up (actually, all of them can be attributed to that). Metroid Prime is on the wii, so while it is awesome, I just never got interested enough to play it thanks to the controls.

Resonance of Fate. I'll be trading it in soon to get some cash for Blazblue: Continuum Shift or Ar Tonelico III.

Borderlands. I bought it because all my friends told me it was awesome. After several hours of killing the same enemies over and over again with basically the same gun I just lost interest.

Gears of War. Though I have had a moment or two of fun I've never had a more frustrating experience with AI incompetence. Seriously, don't step IN FRONT OF THE FUCKING BERZERKER!!! IT WILL KILL YOU!!! AND DON'T JUMP INTO THE LAZER JUST BEFORE IT KILLS HIM!!!

Luckily I've got a friend who gets a whole shitload of games, so I never have to worry about that problem ever again. Well, until one of us kills the other anyway.

Never have. I don't rent (except Operation Flashpoint 2, whew, dogeded a bullet there), but I look up review scores and ask friends on XBL what they think of a game.

I don't bother renting, I either buy a game or I don't.
Best way to tell if I should buy a game is to look at the genre and the reviews, both professional and user.

I don't get the point of renting, most places like EB have a return policy on games (about a week or so), so you've got a week to play it and if you don't like it just bring it back. It's as good as renting but you get all your money back at the end :)
