Penumbra: Requiem.

I'd played through Penumbra; Overture; Black Plaque; and Dark Descent.

But, I was long out off spare-underwear when I even knew of this game's existence.

Sorry, Frictional. I'm not putting myself through more nightmares.

Or, Sanity's Requiem.

No. This game made me go insane. So... Much... Fake.. TECHNICAL ISSUES... I can't bring myself to finish it...

I never could finish any Elder Scrolls game, Red Dead Redemption, Star Ocean: Last hope, few other older RPGs because it just got too repetitive.

Final Fantasy V. I like it, but for some reason I tend to forget about it for months at a time. Still haven't finished.

Generally speaking, I also have a hard time completing sandbox games. I have so much fun just messing around that I never get to the plot, and get bored of the game long before I've made any progress in the storyline.

But hey, as long as I had fun, I feel like I got what I was supposed to out of the experience.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica.

I got bogged down and never had the urge to start it again. It was all because of running out of amo when I had to kill that Tyrant in the plane, and the last saved game was in a place where I couldn't get anything. I was 12 and had no internet or friends to ask for help, so I gave up.

I might take it up again.

I have never been able to finish Vampire Rain, the reasons are a combo of being absolute crap and the extremely high difficulty.

If you get hit Once, you loose 3/4's of your health, you also get knocked over and get attacked again before you even get up which instantly kills you.

The level design is about as bad as it comes, your weapons are extremely underpowered, the enemies are 20 times your speed and can jump over a sky scraper easily, and overall it's a very very bad game.

Hm, The Witcher is the first one that comes to mind. Probably means its just the most recent, but I'm pretty good about actually going all the way through a game that I enjoy enough to want to finish.

For a good while I was having problems with crashing that got frustrating enough I stepped back from it for a while and when I came back to it I ended up starting over. I've played through the intro a few times and while I'm definitely a lot further than I have been before, I just got pulled into a multiplayer game with a friend that has been taking up my gaming hours and have had to put it on hold again. Just hoping I can fire it up and still finish it up when I manage to get back to it because it is a great game even if its pretty rough around the edges.

Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XIII

I tried. I really did. I couldn't sit through the games. I managed to get through X-2, but not these, and I'm not sure why. That said, I'm pretty good about finishing games once I start them, normally...

Morrowind. I'm currently on my third attempt to get through it. I'll usually make it about half way through, but stop because the enemies level up faster than I do, so unless I want to spend the next few days killing squibs in the mud to catch up I'm pretty much SOL. Considering that I'd be doing this in order to save a bunch of people who so far have done nothing but spew hate at me for being a foreigner and occasionally jump me, I rarely feel the motivation to do so.

Oh, and GTA, Vice City. I got close to the end, but then the game just stopped giving me new missions. I checked an FAQ and found out that I first had to beat a bunch of arbitrary side-missions involving the businesses the game apparently wanted me to buy, which I had known existed but skipped due to their general pointlessness. I was so disappointed, I did the only reasonable thing and shot up the mall with a minigun while on fire.

Resident Evil 5, I got past the first chapter and gave up because it was so boring and I really hated the gameplay style. I prefer the annoying yet creepy camera angles of the first one, first person just felt weird for RE.

FFXII, just lost all interest even though I'm a huge FF fan.

DK64
Rainbow Six Vegas 2

DK64 is because the final boss is unlocked with these two coins which you have to play these old arcade games to get. Don't say I just can't do it until you've tried said arcade games though.
Rainbow six vegas 2 because it's just bad.

games i quit because i got stuck:
paper mario, the thousand year door. that shadow queen is seriously hard, plus i had borrowed it from a friend, so it wouldn't have been nice of me to ask to keep it for another week or 3 to finish it when i can look up the ending online
final fantasy 8. i have a very good reason for this one: the game kept freezing once i reached a certain cutscene, so i couldn't progress any further

games i quit just because i didn't like them:
shin mogami tensai, digital devil saga. boring as hell, everything is in various shades of grey except the character hair, the combat is unintuitive and clunky at the best of times, and the story is really, really badly told.
fallout 3. i freely admit that i am probably being fiercely unfair here, but the gameplay bored me, the setting bored me and i died a couple of times early on which sealed it. never even tried to play it after the day i borrowed it.

Would you still recommend it?

Looking for a some JRPG's for my PS3. And I find my lack of JRPG's disturbing.

OT: I don't know if Alpha Protocol has been mentioned but Alpha Protocol.

I did like it it was just that it decided to corrupt my save file that I was more then half way trough. And I sure as hell didn't want to replay the tutorial and the starter levels.

Grr...Stupid saves...

The worst part about the Shadow Queen in Paper Mario was definetly the mid-fight cutscene. Not only could you not skip it, but you had to keep hitting A to advance the text for what felt like at least half an hour. I had to let the game sit for about three months before I was willing to try again.

Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus...well I did complete it but not until a few weeks ago, and I've had the game for several years.

Yeah, I'd recommend it. The entire game is solid, its just the story isn't very interesting (or at least to me).

Zombies Ate My Neighbors on the SNES...I don't know anyone who has beaten that game (And emulators with save states DO NOT COUNT)...Its just brutal with over 40 levels...Sure theres a save system but you don't get to keep any of your weapons or items (which can lead to being stopped by stupid skeleton key doors with no way of continuing) and an ABSURD final boss who takes TONS of Rockets and Panadora's Boxes to kill...Its a fun game, but way too hard...

I've probably been ninja'd about seventy times, but I'd still like to be one of the guys in the room who goes:

[HEADING=1]HURR DURR![/HEADING]

[HEADING=2]DWARF FORTRESS![/HEADING]

Jak 2. Lame, I know. I'm at 95% completion, and I'm at this goddamned escort mission. Either I die, or that damned machine we're trying to transport get destroyed, either by my shot or by metal heads.

Every now and then, I crack open the case to the game and try again. And I still can't.

I beat the other 2...
