That one thing that Skyrim did that you didn't like or want to happen

I wanted to preface by saying that I love Skyrim as a whole and these are my nitpicks.

1.) I hate when dragons decide to attacks while I'm doing a quest that temporarily removed my weapons and armor or when I'm in the middle of plot-important conversations. There had to be an easy true/false statement to fix that.

2.) I wish the "Store Item" command wasn't bound to the same button as the "Take All" command (PS3). This gets extremely irritating when placing items in my chest at my house and accidentally putting in the wrong item. I go to take it out and BAM... overencumbered. I reload to save time.

3.) On the subject of inventory. I like how my inventory is sorted. Why isn't my chest sorted the exact same way? This would not have been hard. At least put the items in SOME order. At this point, I'd go for alphabetical.

4.) I dislike followers. I don't use them because I play stealth and whenever I land even one blow they think that means I want to engage in a straight up sword-fight. NO!!! STOP RUNNING OFF!!! I DON'T FIGHT FARE!!!

5.) I understand why they go rid of it, but I kind-of miss spell-crafting in. It may just be me, but it looks like their are fewer spells in Skyrim than there were in Oblivion. This one is the most irrelevant of all my gripes.

I only have two real issues with the game and these are it for me.

Richardplex said:
What the hell is with the fall damage? It goes from no damage to fatal really quickly, and that fatal range is way too small.
I've jumped off a castle wall 28 feet high (I'm guessing) and taken a splinter of damage to my health bar, yet when I'm running around and decide to shave a couple seconds on my way to some place by jumping down off a boulder with a drop equal to about my height rather than go around I loose 1/3 to 1/2 my health.

Also, why only 1 ring slot?
As for the rings. I can understand one on each hand, but not one total. No matter what intellegent reasoning came about this I refuse to accept it.

I have Arachnophobia... so it's twice the hate, besides, they really put effort on making them detailed as hell. Man I can't look at one without feeling chills...

The scaling. "This is the largest graveyard in skyrim." ME "Realy? Theres only like 15 headstones." Seriouly yes i know you have limitations but can you at least make a inaccesible area filled with headstones? Also if the tmariel is a continent then it is small becuase in about a hour of striaght running not stopping for anything you get one end to the other of skyrim. At least make it seem bigger.

Petty yes.

That M'aiq can't be a possible follower. This upset me greatly. I mean, he carries around TWO weapons!

This.
Yep. I'm terrifid of Spiders. I can just about force myself to fight the at long range preferably with my fire magic.
I cannot bring myself to fight one up close with melee weapons. I'm starting to develope an irrational fear of the cobwebs that they put for decoration because eveytime I see one I think there might be spiders.
I'm OK with practicaly anything else.
Even those Chaurus things that look like earwigs. I can deal with them.
Just not spiders.

I would play this game and be happy in every aspect of it. I just hate spiders.
Funnily enough, I'm extremely arachnaphobic. Embarrassingly so. I have to get my girlfriend to catch them in the house, and the ones we get in the UK are neither harmful or particularly large. My kids think it's funny as fuck though...

Anyway, the odd thing is that in Skyrim, I fucking love wandering in to a room full of spiders and going medieval on their eight legged arses. It's very theraputic, I find.

Followers are pretty much my main complaint, all the things other people have mentioned... not levelling, not properly equiping items, randomly deciding to run off and attack things and getting lost/stuck/killed. If you're going to include a pet system (and that's what it is) in a game, include commands and stances and let them stay close to or at our level.

The biggest, most constant, annoyance for me was the lack of any ability to open locked items other than lockpicking. I don't want my mage to be trucking around lockpicks, why can't he open locks like in Daggerfall (last time I played a mage in these games). Why can't my warrior, wielding a huge axe, chop open that door?

Firebolt + Icicle =/= Flaming icicle :(

When i heard "dual casting" i thought i would be getting a Magicka-style spell system.
They could work it in, perhaps making the special dual casting only work if both spells are in the same school of magic or something.

Play on master difficulty. Your companion is a lot more than a crate then.

The whole point of Skyrim is that you make your own story. When I meet a companion (for some reason I end up spending a lot of time with Lydia and Faendal, probably because they are the 2 easiest/fastest), I do some bullshit for them or have a chat. Then you get out and into it. It's cool, Faendal comments on the environment (aesthetically) quite often, and Lydia has the personality of a housecarl, to the nail.

There was on time (about level 10) I happened upon a dragon in the wilderness, just Lydia and my Bosmer archer. It took ages (150 arrows, to be precise) but when we finally killed it, it felt like a team effort with another person.

While I admit sometimes the mandatory companions are annoying (someone mentioned what could only be the thieves guild quest with Mercer as a mandatory follower, I hated every second of that, particularly the room with 3 Draugr Wights that take about 40 arrows each to kill), and the AI can be suicidal at times, the companions are a good part of the story, and they are really valuable at high difficulty.

In answer to your question, I don't really like the way magic is balanced. I have a level 35 Orc warrior type who can be one-shot by Forsworn Briarhearts. NPC magic is just much too strong, and it sucks that I have to grind enchanting or alchemy to build resistances to avoid being one-shot.

I strongly dislike your enemy's finishing moves. Sometimes they happen when I have even half of my life bar. It's ridiculous.
I love being 1 shot(getting my head cut off that is)by a high level greatsword wielder. earing no armor ftw!

I don't get why people complain about the game being too easy. Play on highest difficulty and make it harder for yourself by NOT putting a crap ton of points into crafting (or whatever you think makes you OP.)Of course you can make it easier, so if you want it to be hard, why do it? I love running around and having to conserve my magika so I can get as much cc as possible in because GOD FORBID they get into melee range.

Magic duals are fun too! Dodging those ice spikes for my life!

That being said, I have a lot of tiny little stupid issues with this game. Most have already been voiced. Frankly it's the smoothest and best Bethesda launch as far as I remember. I may have to reevaluate my total hatred of them.

Non digitigrade beastmen (Argonian and Khajiit). The final step in making them perfect.

Why?

Don't question me.

Same here, man.

I literally only ever saw my companions as meat shields and pack mules. the only companion I've remotely felt anything close to caring for would be Marcurio, but only because we've got that Mage-Bro thing going on, but that's where it ends. It's because they have no story at all. Most of them join you after one mission and then never have a damn thing to say afterward.

Not like Boone, oh man he was my favorite follower ever, and his "quest line" literally lasted until the ending of the game, where the Narrator told you their fate if you'd had them with you. Before that it was always me trying to pry more about his life in the NCR and before coming to live at the Dinky motel. He had his reasons and his own emotional baggage, and I knew it. I was okay with him keeping his secrets, and in time I knew he'd tell me. THAT is how it should be, not, "You killed some bandits? Sweet, I'll follow you and carry all your shit forever."

Anyway, let's see here...

I find it incredibly idiotic that you cannot so much as swing a sword while on horseback. I suppose I could understand Two-Handed, and even Bows, but why the hell does my character not have the dexterity to hold the reigns with one hand and swing a waraxe with the other? Or even magic, all that requires is a goddamn wave of the fingers.

Finishers do not come up often enough, also, the 3rd person ones all look choppy and shit. I want to kill enemies epically while not losing the first person view, of which I have seen one melee like that and one sneak.

Obviously give the merchants more damned money. If you have so much shit in the game to find, obviously I can't CARRY IT ALL, and I don't want to store it all in a chest. Hell, the Staff of Fear I found I cannot sell to anyone for my best price, which is quite lower than the actual sell price of over 2000 gold.

I'm severely disappointed that the supposed "herds of mammoth roaming the plains" turned out to be at any given time TWO MAMMOTHS, and with GIANTS. I've only ever seen Two wild mammoth roaming before.

Why is basically every stock enemy I fight a Draugr, Bandit, Black Mage(Also Necromancers), Vampire, or combination of the four? Literally EVERY HUMAN NPC I've fought is either A. A bandit B. A Black Mage C. A Vampire D. A Mage Vampire Bandit. And they all wear the same damn clothes. And they all look the same. And basically every vampire is either a Dunmer or Wood Elf. Pretty much every Black mage is Dunmer.

Gotta agree with another poster about the no jumping while sprinting. There went all of my goddamn parkour-related fantasies of leaping across streams and pits after a dragon.

Fall damage threshold is idiotic. The first time I defeated the Krosis, "FUCK YEAH, EAT A DICK!" I proceeded to hop over a ledge that was probably somewhere around 6-7 feet high, DIED. Given, I was low on health, but really? 6-7 Feet? Shit, I could hop down from that with no trouble. Had no idea that the knees of a Dragonborn are made of porcelaine.

Once again, psychic town guards somehow found out I stole shit or killed someone when nobody else was around to see it. And what the hell is the shit about animals counting as witnesses? I'm sorry, wasn't aware that Skyrim was full of goat whisperers.

Sneak is OP. I said it. If you're telling me that with sneak not even halfway up, on the second hardest difficulty, I can stab a giant in the ankle with a steel dagger and kill him in one hit, there's a problem. I'm not saying it should be nerf'd to hell, but it kinda ruins things IMO when I can sneak up on a two story tall monster and kill him with what for him is just a toothpick while when using EXPERT LEVEL MAGIC I'm still having difficulty. Shit, my buddy had his sneak maxed out and he was crouching in front of people-IN BROAD DAYLIGHT-and literally stealing the clothes off their backs, along with their swords, shields, and anything else of value.

I'm not entirely sure how a warhammer can weigh more than a set of armor. The weight assignment on some of the stuff you can pick up is ludicrous. How can Nettlebane, a dagger, have a weight of 10? What the fuck is it made of; Dark Matter? Meanwhile, a staff usually only weighs about 8. Most one-handed swords? Around 10-14.

Finally, I want to know why in the middle of a heated battle against the ONLY THREAT TO ITS KIND does a dragon suddenly decide that that Elk about twenty yards away is more threatening than me? *****, I shot you with lightning and you're gonna go breathe fire at a rabbit?

No, wait, how is it ANYTHING like WoW, at all?

I play WoW, religiously, and it's NOTHING like it.

"I hate Dragon Age: Origins, it too much like Age of Empires 2!"
man i love the Rim-Dog (thats what it is called now, yep.) but i see what he means. generic fetch quests, grinding, and a crafting system that scream MMO at least, doesnt have to be WoW.
doesnt mean it isnt the best game of the year

Really the one issue I have with Skyrim at the moment is that some of the quests seemed to be glitched. For example, I have a quest with Breylna from the College of Winterhold. For some reason, the spell she cast on me won't wear off. So I can't proceed with the next part of the quest. I really hope Bethesda sorts this out.

As for the followers, I don't really agree that they are all cardboard cutouts or are just there for carrying stuff. There are some followers that are actually interesting and developed. And example being Erandur from that one quest in Dawnstar.

I had some crazy what looked like a mix of Russian and Sanskrit. I wouldn't even know where to get the characters to show you.

But Stilt Striders are native to Morrowind, not Skyrim. That's like asking for a Polar Bear in a game based in Japan.
Then how about horse caravans?
It says in the loading screen that people use horses yet the player seems to be the only one.....

Anyone else annoyed by the puzzle doors? The doors where you have 3 pictures and you have to sort them into the right order to pass, if you get the order wrong a trap (Flamethrowers, arrows, whatever) is activated. As far as I can tell there is no clue to what the right order is and the correct order seems to be arbritry most of the time.
