as a young child I saw my first black person. I reached up at him from my stroller and said, "basketball man." My mom was mortified but the guy the thought it was kinda funny.
I did something similar, but it was with my Dad's Group Captain in the RAF when I was about six. I went up to him and said "You're brown!" My Dad thought that he was going to get sacked but the Group Captain just laughed and said "Yes, I am".
Yeah, when I was like five I asked my mother why she called them black people, when clearly they were brown.

I was led to believe it was rainbow sheep

or my personal choice baa baa dermatologically challenged sheep

also weren't the Brownies scout thingy changed to something different?

also I wonder if people are aware that most black (or other races) people actually don't care that much :p

Racism today tends to forget people are mean, apathetic and stereotypical to X, Y or Z. And thus go out of way of logic and reason to re correct reality by saying if it looks like it might slight the apparent minority its world shattering maddens but if it slights in the other direction its A ok family friendly good laughs.

Ya know black face is not racist, the cartoonish dolls and such are not racist its a fcking cartoon (To make humorous or satirical), the N word is barely racist these days(tho is more loaded than queer, fag ect ), look at the meaning and context and situation before race, color or creed is even entered into the equation. And don't get me started on "retarded" next "special" or any word or term that might have the slightest hint of negative ambiguity will be socially unacceptable because society is ran by children and nanny's ...
If he N word is not loaded i want you to call a random black person you don't know the word...and then i would like you to post about the asswhoopin you receive. Cause if you call me the n word to my face were i can see you i will likely punch the shit out of you...at the end of the day the word has a negative connotation and thus should not be used to refer to a black person. Cause i'm not gonna lie I kicked a kids ass because he thought he could say it jokingly to me and that it would be no big deal...the sad part is it is and most black people will tell this as well
Loaded>racist, I said its barely racist these days its much more context/situation based than it was 100 years ago.

People are much to quick to burn there race/special identity cards over the slightest thing these days.

I suppose you could still say Tiger and it could be technically racist.
How?

In Sweden we have these delicious things called negro-balls. They look like this:

Obviously, there has been debates about the name...
In Holland we had something similar about "negrokisses", which is the literal translation of this little darling:

There was a lot of bitching about that despite the name existing for decades...
Why should the fact that they have been around for decades make it less racist? Racism doesn't stop being racist just because you do it for a long time.

Also, what still isn't considered racism, despite some bitching about it 2 years ago or so, is the Sinterklaas fest which is going on right now. There's this dude called Sinterklaas, where Santa Claus got his name from, who roams the country with his helpers named Black Pete (all orchestrated in a lie for children so grand that Santa Claus pales in comparison), there's a ton of them but they're all named like that (like Gift-Wrapping Pete, Roof-Climbing Pete, etc etc). I won't say much else about it, a picture suffices:

Yeah. Imagine that being a national event in, say, the US. Welcome to Holland people!
This one I knew about already. I visited Holland a week ago, and even visited a grade school to pick up my cousin. And yeah, I can't believe they've got that. Especially considering that the different Petes are treated kind of like smurfs or other gnomey creatures.

Referring to a black person as black. =/

Used to be perfectly fine but now peoples hackles go up when I say 'black' rather than 'coloured'.

Friggen ridiculous.
Where are you from? Because here in the Midwest of the USA, colored is considered derogatory and black is the preferred term.
Precisely the same here. I'm from the UK and 'black' is the word here.

I'm from the UK, and coloured is derogatory and black is preferred...as they are not coloured, because that's the same as saying white people are coloured in comparison to black people.

Yeah, but the word "neger" doesnt have the some weight as "Negro" or "******". Its simply a description of a colour. It can be used as a racial slur depending on context and on what other words attached to it. But in the context of "Negerboll" there's no racism about it. No black person here cares about it. Only insecure leftist pussbag kids who want to play "Political Correct Hero" makes a big deal out of it.

I used to laugh at some of the things my Granda says, he just doesnt seem to realise what he says is Racist, We were in Tescos about two weeks ago and on seeing a Black guy he said "Flip, He's as Black as Your Boot"

I just feel awkward when he does it now.

I should probably start off this post by saying my grandmother is not racist. She could care less what the color of your skin is. Ever since she was a little girl, she believed racial discrimination against any group is cruel. This was back in the 20s and 30s mind you, when Jim Crow and segregation was still alive and well.

That said, she still refers to Brazil nuts as "****** toes." Apparently everyone in her town called them that when she was growing up, so she figured that must be their name. Old habits are hard to break, particularly when you're over 90.
