How are you not entitled to a refund? Did they explain that, because I'd like to read the response. Anyway, I don't blame you for shopping elsewhere. I've been buying from Amazon mostly for the past year or two, and they haven't let me down. Though they have had at least one major shipping problem that I know of. I can't remember what game it was, but I'm pretty sure it was this year. Orders were sent to the wrong area and shipments were very delayed.

But Amazon is really good about being fair with you when they make an error. It turns out I was owed a $20 credit for preordering Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but I wasn't aware of it. I got an email from them apologizing for not giving me the credit, so they sent me a gift card code for $20. And that went into my Skyrim preorder.

It seems to me that Gamestops are hit and miss. The ones ive been to are rather nice, and Ive heard just as many good stories about them as i have bad.
Consider yourself one of the lucky few. My friends say the same thing to me, but like I said I have given them chances to treat their customers(me) right and they screwed me over too many times.

The equivelant to Gamestop in the UK is GAME.

After they got my copy of Deus Ex: HR to me 4 days late, I decided to take my business somewhere else.
Gamestation is where it's at order online and you get it at least one day early, play it first guarantee, although Game and Gamestation are owned by the same company.
I don't go to either I'm a HMV man the best trade in prices ever.

OT: Gamestop sounds really shitty.

I go to...

This place [http://www.shopto.net/]

Independant retailer of the year 2011, the games are cheaper and the delivery is top-notch (my friend got Deus Ex: HR, 2 days before release).

Edit: Shit, that really sounds like advertising, trust me, that's not my intention.

well Like I said, its hit or miss. It depends on the staff really. Thats probably why the ones I go to are so good. They are staffed well.

I almost don't trust any Games Retail Store in my city. GAME (equivelant to Gamestop) have screwed me with their point system promises stating their trades would beat any trade-in in the area. I checked around and compared the prices and their point system's apparent cost in exchange would come to roughly 50% more than what I could trade in any of the others so I did it, putting the points on a card they gave me. Coming back later to purchase a game I find out that the points I had gotten from them were worth no where near the amount and I couldn't even purchase an OLD second-hand game. I was furious, spoke to the manager (the same man that traded my games for the points) and he stated that I must have been confused with what they were saying (I wasn't) and there is nothing they can do about it. That's about £40 down the drain.

CEX, another shop in the area, are a second hand game retailer with an apparent exceptional trade-in and customer service. I have bought games from there a numerous amount of times that don't even work or (because of their ridiculous filing system, literally chucked in a pile in sleeves) the games are confused and when, let's say, I purchase Gears of War I get the completely wrong game that is probably even for Playstation 1. Also when I return to complain they check their database, assuming it is me trying to con them out of a game. Their incompetence and lack of respect for the customer frustrates me to the point of violence!

And finally Gamestation, another store of con-artists, all greeting with welcoming hands only to cut yours off when you purchase one of their "special" products. When you begin to get a subscription they ask you your details, fair enough, you give them your house address and your name and it's all done. This, I expect would be for postage and packaging so there are no CONFUSIONS. I have pre-ordered a few games from them (regrettably Final Fantasy XIII being one of them) and a few times my product has gotten "lost in the post" so I got to complain or at least find out what's wrong. Every time I went they said the same thing "your oder should come eventually", it took weeks, so I came back and asked for a refund, since I didn't think it would ever get to me and I didn't want them to continue their service. They refused. It took weeks before I ever got my games and I felt like I was just another pile of shit they can make money from. Never going there again.

I've probably just got bad luck but I'm gonna stick Amazon and Play from now on. I have never had anything go wrong with their services. Touch wood.

I don't understand this. These aren't your friends at the playground, this is business, big business. If you are unhappy with them you go to their competition - this is the idea behind competition. Why are you tolerating this five times, most people would have taken their money somewhere else after the first time, I know I would, even those who don't would do it after the second one? Why are you tolerating this on, what seems to be, a consistent basis?

On the other hand you got over it four times, seems like you'll go over it four times more.

I hate the patronizing staff in Gamestation that try to groom you if you are young. I'm 14 and every time I go in there they're all
"Alright mate, can I help you find anything?"
"No thanks, I'm fine."
"Ok, give me a shout if you need anything mate"
The same dialog EVERY FUCKING TIME. And I live in a pretty small town, plus I'm a pretty distinctive character.
Also
I go to the counter to buy Crysis.
"Alright mate, are you sure your computer can run this mate?"
"Yeah, I've just upgraded to a dual core i5"
"*Wince* It says you need a 3 dot zero gb processor for this mate.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
I always get the one guy that won't sell pegi ratings without ID. I used to nuy 16+ games all the time when I was 11 and when I'm 15 I get ID.
They are quite patronizing, also their always trying to be your friend.

Okay, it is official. I am done with Gamestop. They have screwed me over for the last friggin' time. I ordered the Gears of War 3 epic edition and retro lancer months ago when they said they still have them. They took my order. They took my money.

Couple of days ago,I got an email from them saying that they can no longer process my order and dropped it. No, I didn't get a refund either and they are not responding to me when trying to contact them.

I tried giving them chances, but I am tired of it. I am ordering from Amazon from now on. I don't care if I have to wait a few more days for my stuff to ship
Did you order from their web site, or from a store? Do you have a receipt? Those things help a lot when you have issues with any business.

Last game I pre ordered was Fallout: New Vegas from Amazon. I chose two day shipping, not one day, and it came on opening day.

Amazon+UPS is very reliable. USPS.... that's a little different. And Fed Ex just plain blows for personal shipments from my experience.

Believe me, having game stores being self-regulated is way better, underage customers included.

Where I live in Canada it's EB Games, a subsidiary of Gamestop. I've never had anything bad happen to me, yet I always hear horror stories about Gamestop over the internet.

So far I have had great customer service. It beat's best buy where the store clerk's stalk you and you have to use the kiosks as cover to avoid a girl from asking you if you need help with videogames...

(I kid the ladies. It was a female clerk at fry's that told me to get Tales of Symphonia as a kid. Great co-op game BTW)

Five times? How in the name of potato did they manage to screw you over five times? What possessed you to give them more chances than, I don't know, two?
Four different vendors. Since everyone says each store is different, you would think I would get better service going to a different gamestop. Since, as everyone keeps telling me, the stores are different.

First three time were pre-order bonuses that THEY never gave me and I had to complain and fight with them to get the codes for it. Fourth time was me trading in my xbox360 and them nickel and dime-ing me to death on every single little problem. Literally, one time they said "I see there are scratches on the case. We have to charge you $20 for repair." And they tried to charge me for a game that I bought from them used and they gave me no manual, but tried to trade back in. They charge me $5 for the manual.

And now this.

I would agree, accept this one little detail.

There are 3 Gamestops in my area, plus online service. One I knew was corrupted. I went to the other hoping for different results and got the same. I went to the third one and guess what? Just as dumb and corrupted as the other two.

I even ordered from their online store once....once again got screwed over. meanwhile, my other friends go to twelve different ones in their home town and not one has steered them wrong. Not one. SO either my area is full of assholes or I am living next to 4chan's headquarters.

Anyhow, if the same store screws you over five times that's your fault. After the second time, start going somewhere else..
Read above.

It is ALSO a business responsibility to a honor code to RESPECT the customers and their needs. Stop making excuses for a company that fucks up. They fuck up, they deserve to have their asses complained upon. ESPECIALLY, when Gamestops thinks they are the end all and be all of game retails.

If a business is not doing the job you want them to do, you complain. Next time, if you have a problem with a business. Just blame yourself instead of blaming the company that screwed you over. If that's the kind of logic people have in this world, no wonder this world is corrupted.

Speaking of which remember that you can only get the Retro lance FROM gamestop. So my choices were limited.
