Three words. Stranger than Fiction. Not a comedy, but it is a really good film with Will Ferrell in it.Lilani said:But for a real answer...Will Ferrell. I'll give him the cowbell skit, but most of his stuff is so dumb I can't even stand it. Especially his work in films. I find it insulting that I'm even supposed to be amused by what he's doing.

Oh come on, you don't see the appeal of paying $10 to watch people die horribly on a huge screen in a dark room wearing 3d glasses to the blood virtually flies off the screen and onto your face for two hours?stukov961 said:Gore movies, I simply don't see the appeal.

Well I agree with you about using disturbing situations for source material for jokes but it is actually a very human thing to do to make light of a horrific event with comedy to try and make it more manageable in the human mind because if you can laugh over a bad situation at least you are not crying anymore.Yureina said:Anything that involves human suffering disturbs me. LEO and SATAN! I think it might have been the murder of Leo. It might have been funny if it weren't so damn sad seeing Satan crying over the tragedy of it all.ThatLankyBastard said:Anyone here ever heard of Leo and Satan? It's a hilarious little thing that I watch on Youtube. Anyway in one episode (I forget which one), Leo and Satan are talking about algebra and Leo says "this stuff is harder than the death of my sisters unborn fetus"...
I really didn't enjoy that episode...
I was more referring to tasteless jokes about that stuff. There's a difference between Dr. Strangelove and dead baby jokes or jokes about barbecuing Jews. The movie is funny even if its about dark topics, but the other stuff is just wrong. I hope that makes sense. :sCosmicZombie said:Well I agree with you about using disturbing situations for source material for jokes but it is actually a very human thing to do to make light of a horrific event with comedy to try and make it more manageable in the human mind because if you can laugh over a bad situation at least you are not crying anymore.Yureina said:Anything that involves human suffering disturbs me. I almost wet myself laughing.Brutal Peanut said:My husband thought this was mildly offensive, I thought it was hilarious; still do.
I am sorry for raising a counter-point, it seems our view points are quite congruent to each otherYureina said:I was more referring to tasteless jokes about that stuff. I figured they were. I was just being a bit more specific about those views. :3CosmicZombie said:I am sorry for raising a counter-point, it seems our view points are quite congruent to each other
This. Martyrs is a good example. Salo is also awful. I just don't get the point of Gorn (Gore Porn). I always feel like I need to reach through the screen and kill the serial baby rapist before he kills another victim. It's not that I'm engaged in the flick, it's that I'm horrified that something so repulsive could exist. I never buy the film, I only rent it. And then I tell everyone how shit it was.stukov961 said:Gore movies, I simply don't see the appeal.
