Great 5:
- Clerks. (It almost feels like the story of my life, so to speak; The girlfriend, the annoying customers, Dante, in particular, is me, down to a "T".)
- The Brave Little Toaster (To me, is it the best thing Disney turned out until Pixar stepped in. Go watch it, it's everything Pixar is doing now but in 2D Animation (Inanimate Objects, Complex Emotions, Not the most recognizable Voice Actors, and some of the most amazing emotional scenes in movies. Clowns and Flowers are particularly scary and saddening, respectively)
I dare you not to feel slightly depressed for a FLOWER. That's great movie making. Go Watch it.)
- Eraserhead (This movie I just watched a few nights ago. Holy Hell, probably one of the most disturbing and complex motion pictures I've seen yet, but I loved every minute of it. A movie that's nearly 30 years old and still has legions of people trying to figure out what it all means, truly a sign of great direction by David Lynch.)
-Harry and the Hendersons (I can't watch it anymore without bursting into tears, it's the one movie I can cry to from nearly the beginning to the end, and I don't know if its some complex emotional reason why or because It's the Anti E.T., but I love it so much, but I'll be damned if I become a father who cries at it all the time)
-Raising Arizona (In my opinion, the best picture from the Coen Brothers, you have a memorable villian, a Hero who seems smarter than he looks, Great one liners, and fantastic scenery shots, plus a movie with an ending that stays with you long after the movie is over. The Coens have continued great movie making after this one, but I consider this movie one of my favorites)
Runners Up: The Watchmen (I would almost call it my favorite superhero movie ever, but that part is reserved for...
The Mask (Jim Carrey as a superhero... What more can you ask for?)
A Scanner Darkly (Despite seeing Requiem for a Dream, I consider this my favorite Anti-drug movie of all time, depressing, well acted, stellar performances all around, and perhaps the greatest mind flip of a movie)
Worst 5:
- The Underground Comedy Movie (You know that guy Vince for the Slap-Chop commercials? Well, he thought he was funny enough to make a movie... and fails miserably. In fact, the only thing anyone remembers from it is two Porn stars doing a poo, Slash (THAT Slash), and Michael Clarke Duncan and Gay Comedian Ant as Gay Virgin and Gay Man, Respectively.)
- Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (Of the few times a sequel need not be made, this is the one to remind you of that rule. Totally Unnesscessary to even be considered, even worse that it got made, and truly sad that Shia Lebeouf, Eugene Levy and Cheri Oteri that it was a good idea to star in it.)
- Step Brothers (Except for a few small jokes that really don't work, there is very little to enjoy of this movie. Everybody I know loves it, and all I feel is Embarrassment, and the worst part is I was by myself.)
-The Da Vinci Code (The book was probably the most major downer I had ever read in my life, and the movie was just a complete rehashing of it all. I never thought Tom Hanks could star in a bad movie, but this picture reminded me that every once in a while, Actors can drop a deuce of a performance.)
- Wild Hogs (I love William H. Macy. I mean, I really love William H. Macy. Now, with that said, I must ask, Why does William H. Macy make me question him if I love him so much? The man was divine in Fargo, Convincing in The Cooler, Hilarious in Cellular, then he does a movie like this and makes me sad for humanity, and worse is that a Sequel is coming out next year. A Sign of the Apocalypse or a better performance from William H. Macy?)
