[And the brave Hero flies into combat, casting aside all opposition, arriving just in time to cast a joy killing comment at the impenetrable wall of self-righteousness.]

Sure people are stupid but why complain about such trivialities? Why not, like all the real smart people, you start taking advantage of your supposed superior intelligence? I mean, if everybody is that retarded than surely becoming a god among man should be relatively easy.

Statement: There are mostly stupid people in this world.
Observed opinion: Everybody claims they're the "smart one."

This is an impossible paradox. Why? Because we need stupid people in this world in order for the first statement to be right. If you're not stupid, who is? Me? Your little brother? The mayor? That police officer who pulled you over? The president? Everybody thinks they're smart but apparently everyone's stupid which means we're all tricking ourselves. Yeah. So we're left with two options.

a)Nobodies stupid.
b)Most people are lying to themselves.

It's probably B.

Okay then. I don't watch Family Guy anymore, so I forgot what that mean, or when he even says it, or what episode he is even in. But recently I ordered Daria and it finally came two days ago. Yay!

Warning, This is kind of a RANT. I have a lot on my mind, and decided to put it all in one topic.

I am amazed at the alarming amount of stupid in the world. examples such as: Jersey shore, PeTA's hypocrisy, WBC, People who are against 'blank' (however have no knowledge about 'blank'.), the pointlessness of so many children shows, parents who let the TV baby-set their kids, badly worded internet bills, gullible and bribe-able politicians, constant remakes of horror movies as sequels showing what hollywood gets away with and its lack of creativity, this cartoon exist, the national debt in the US, most video games are no longer hard and reward people for everything now, people constantly discriminating, degrees no long mean anything (as anyone can get one, regardless of intelligence), activist who don't understand what they are protesting, people who protest just to protest, constant repeats of history (most recent: "let's get those 'terrorist' who threaten our civilization in the middle-east", I refer you to Rome around year 1 AD.), US government apparently admiring to existence of UFOs, and people freaking out about new super-bugs when the plagues of the past were much worse (Spanish flu, black plague, etc...).

First, does any of this surprise you? Second, is there anything stupid that I'm not aware of or forgot to mention? Third, is there any more history repeating itself? Also, feel free to discuss the above issues.

EDIT: Here's more i forgot at the beginning (and i will be adding more here): Poe's law, rule 34, trolls,
*Sigh* Look, heres the thing. We're not getting dumber, as humans go we're becoming incredibly more intelligent. Only difference now is the influx of media attention that has allowed for stupidity to become more publicized. The best comparison I could draw would be the WBC that you mentioned. Yes, they are a well of dumb with very harsh and zealous Ideals. Now look at the church of Catholicism 200 years ago. They were VERY similar. only difference now is that the world has wised up and those views are in the extreme minority. You will always hear stories of the imbeciles, you will hardly ever hear the good of the world but it is there.
Wait a sec , the OP never said the world is getting dumber . Just that there is a lot of stupidity in the world. Which is true but it has always been like this . The thing is humans have a great amount of potential , being a rational being , but usually we ratiolise after the fact instead of before .

OT: yeah a lot of stupidity in the world . But people individually are smart , together we are stupid , who every said two heads are better than one was wrong.

No. No no nononononono no-ity no-tastically no-riffic. We're getting smarter. No, really, the human race, as a whole, has gotten smarter. At least, the average IQ has gone up among adults. No joke, at least 10% higher.
Yes, there are a lot of stupid things permeating the culture, like music, cartoons, and such. Are those important things? Hell no, those aren't even close to important.
Yes, US politics is something most people can't make heads or tails of. Have you tried figuring out a 2+ TRILLION ($2,000,000,000) dollar budget? I'm a pretty bright fellow, but such a task is daunting, to say the least, and one I'll leave up to someone else, thank you very much.
Yes, when in large groups, people tend to panic and react negatively more easily. And yet, here we are, doing alright, considering.

Don't even try to tell me we're failing as a species. We are the human race. We're smart enough to keep ourselves on a path of general progression. A slow progress, but dammit, we're moving in the right direction.

Yeah, the US, the only country in debt .... or is your country the only one that matters? Imagine what Germany was like after the first world war! Now that was debt!

People constantly discriminating, like against "stupid" people? I am pretty sure there are A LOT of things you are stupid about but it's not like somebody made a thread against you.

Anyway, make yourself feel better and read notalwaysright.com. It certainly helps me out when people piss me off.

America had nothing more important to do so we had the courts declare tomatoes are vegetables and anyone who says otherwise gets hanged
Touche sir. If only things really were that awesome here...Although interesting idea to bring back public hangings. I approve. Wait? I just set myself up to be hanged didn't I? Shit.

people are not stupid

THE MASSSES however are...you want to apeal to as many people as possible? you apeal to the lowest comon denominator

as to weather or not we are stupider than before...thats a hard question, which would obviously require some kind of in-depth study
False. Individuals are plenty stupid. Working in liability claims, I am constantly astounded not only by the amount of retarded things people do that result in injuries or property damage, but the sense of entitlement that leads them to seek compensation for it.

Mob mentality is a thing, sure, but the idea that people only do stupid shit in large groups is flawed at best.
People are not smart
Individuals are smart
People are stupid

I wrote that haiku long ago, but I'd like to clarify that (at least with me) the sentiment trying to be expressed is "Don't put stock in 'people say' statements because the wider base of people you draw from, the greater the chance of something stupid." I dunno if this is a proper analogy, but I'd rather take my chance getting a higher average from 1-5 dice than, say, 100-500.

Of course, I do agree with your statement that humans do not operate like inverted Geth, growing stupider when gathered together.
