It doesn't tend to affect the day to day business of government because most of that is carried out by civil servants. Truthfully its often a bit of a show, because they party in question starts airing dirty laundry and stuff to get the public on their side. Its hilarious most of the time because it lasts less than a week. Although I think on one occasion it got serious enough that the Governor General nearly came in to dismiss the Government. An event that has only happened once in our history so far.
And what occasion prompted the time it did happen?

I'm working on a project about structures, and oh man the number of times I've heard the phrase 'simple truss' today.

Usually infighting in the party. For example, while the Labour party are Left-wing, there are definitely more Left-wing people than others. Unions, Comsumer and environmental groups and business interest also get involved

I might have to go back and check this, but even now, there is still yet to be a Prime Minister who has lasted a whole term since the nonsense in 2010

Based on what he was quoting, I think Spectre is asking about ‘The Dismissal’.

The 1975 dismissal of the Whitlam government is the event I refer to. Most Australians know it as ‘The Dismissal’ since it has yet to occur a second time.
Well, I dont think indicates what you think prompted the Dismissal.

IMO, Australia was pretty right wing until the government who was dismissed formed a few years earlier. The White Australia Policy, for example. But it was moving away like the referendum that made Indigenous Australians allowed to have human rights in 1967 (before Whitlam took office.)

Whitlam put in a lot of socialist policies like medicare, free universities, a youth radio station called Double J (this station played banned music like Led Vepplin) and equal pay. He also moved out of Veitnam and opened relations with China.... and stopped with Taiwan (at that time, it probably would have been hard to pick which was more authoritarian. Taiwan didnt free itself from Chinese rule til the 80s.) They sanctioned Rhodesia and South Africa. They also got rid of God Save the Queen as the national anthem

All this and more in 3 years. It annoyed a lot of people. But this is also the 70s, so we had an economic downturn like everyone else. So that didn't help either.

In otherwords, it multifaceted

Ok, so now that you Brits got a new guy, should we already start speculating on who's going to replace him?
