Hmm, I might pick it up after Civ 4, I dont want it only for multiplayer, but it's a large part of my choice, it also depends on whether you can save online.

By save online, do you mean save a battle that is in progress then continue it with the same person later, or have an online profile which is saved with your games?

There isn't an online profile, and I have no idea if you can save online games, so, once again, I find myself to be (nearly) useless.

I just conquered Greece in Rome - Total War.

Someone tell me how awesome this game is. Someone. Please. I'm beginning to think the Escapist doesn't know this game, owing to the huge number of hints I've dropped about it in the last two days with absolutely no responses.

I love Rome-TW.... It perfected what Medieval started...

Normally yes, but then I considered the ongoing debate that someone is derailing the thread, except they aren't, so they are again, and that made me laugh. So somehow they've done the impossible and derailed the thread, because it was specifically meant to be underailable.

Ha! I'm watching the same game! I like Chelsea. They are going to win.

I dated a girl named Chelsea once, and that was not a win, but a massive failure.

Well it could be in an urban enviroment where you'll only hit your own troops if you use archers but still want to do damage to your enemy.
Or, it could be before you have access to archers and need some decint range with plenty of ammo.
Phalanxs are bad at manuvering and the greeks have crap cavalry so they can do pretty heavy damage.
They could be at numbers where infantry alone can't take them all on, so pepper them up!
Just try it=)
