Ugh, I'm really enjoying the game but I seem to have hit a brick wall. I'm using a PzKwf III Ausf. A and I seriously can't make a dent in anything, I'm trying to make my way to a medium tank verious of it but seeing as I hardly get any experience what so ever because I don't do damage, it's really hard. Tips would be appriciated!

Edit: And another bloody thing; why do you need to pay t be able to group up with people? I just convinced 2 of my friends to start playing and we were slapped in the face with this. What the hell, man?

Yeah.... here's how it works, only premium accounts can create platoons.

After 2 days of playing you will each have 300 gold, 250 gold is one day of premium.

One of you takes premium account for a day, and makes a platoon and invites you, next day you invite him the next day the other friend invites you 2 and so you can be in a platoon forever.


There is also another way, in training battles you can play with who you want in team.

If you really can't wait, press battle at the same time and you probably end up in the same battle (that's what we do when we're like 15 people on teamspeak and it works rather well), you just need to have same tier tanks which you already have.

Indeed, if you do it "normally" it takes about 24 hours. And besides, using the promo codes scores you a tank worth 200,000 credits. Which was very handy for me when I started out! So use them while they last, people!

Did that tank just do a Scandinavian flick? The Swedish are awesome.

I got in the beta for this a while ago but it got a little stale for me. Never seemed to be in decent tank, and artillery seemed to just target me. I'm in a tier 3 tank destroyer surrounded by mid tier medium tanks, a couple of heavies and a few high tier SPG's. Who does the enemy artillery decide to 1 hit with the very first shot of the game? So fucking annoying, seemed to happen to me most games. Might jump back in at some point though.

I don't really see the appeal, nor how its like CS. But the music was good! =]

I cant tell you why we love this game....
Now currently all players have a garage. They start with shitty tanks from all 3 nations and have to play in a Team DeathMatch with a Capture the flag element. Its a lot of fun on some very fun (though they are stil limited... this is still in Closed Beta) maps. As you kill/damage/capture enemy base/stop enemy from capturing/scout/win you get XP and credits.
You use XP to research upgrades (new weapon, engine etc) and slowly progress to a new vechicle. You can choose to be a Artyllery, Heavy Tank, Medium Tank, Light Scout, Tank Destroyer. You can have multiple garage slots.
A NEW gamemode will be clan wars in which teams of 100 people (clans) fight in a big map of Europe and conquer/defend/lose territories. People that arent in a Clan can be mercenaries for clans.

The upgrades/research and different class tanks do sound interesting, but I guess I'm just not at all a tank enthusiast. I still don't quite get it to be the same as CS, but that I didn't mean as a bad thing anyway.

actually russian tanks are one of the worst tanks ever built. Even in World War II Russian tanks wouldn't stand much of a chance against a Panther or a King Tiger. Technically the MAUS shouldn't be in World of Tanks as it was never IN service. Only 2 were ever built and 1 was captured by russians and integrated into their tanks schematics. However, the tanks produced even after the MAUS's capture were still mediocre compared to the rest of the world.

There's more to a tank than just firepower. Sure a German Tiger could blow right through a T-34 or an Allied Sherman tank, but they were horribly expensive, difficult to make and a pain to maintain. They got bogged down in Russia's winter weather, while those good ol' Russian tanks just kept chugging on. And yeah, Shermans were easily shot to bits, but there's a fuckton of them against a relatively handful of German ones.

I just saw a tank drift. I call shenanigans.

Tanks cant drift. Although i think it would be cool of the Leopard could.

I hate the slow tanks, that's why I went first for the light, then for the medium ones. You can dodge enemy fire easily in them.You compromise fire power and armor but your driving skill make up for them, and close up you will run in circles around artillery.

Tank destroyers are not my thing, I have no patience.

It's like CS in the sense that you can play it forever on the same map and not get bored, because the battle will always be different.

I tried light tanks for a bit, but seemed to have real problems crashing into pretty much everything. I'm not a very good driver. Tank Destroyers are right up my street. You just stick yourself in a bush for the whole game. TD cannons tend to be incredibly accurate over long ranges, so I could just sit back in a place that had good sight lines and pick away at everything.

This issue comes up in all games I play though. It doesn't seem to matter how many team mates are with me, or what they're doing, the enemy always target me first. One of my friends has taken advantage of this in Halo. If he sticks near me whenever we engage with enemies, he doesn't get shot at. It makes this game incredibly frustrating to play.
