The BTTF theme. We would just pretend that it wasn't written for the movie and that Earth was just as awesome as the song.

There is only one anthem to play. Th greatest national anthem ever composed.

No one can deny that this anthem beats every other anthem with the stock of an AK-47 and a boot to the teeth. The Motherland shall rise again, she is just resting.

C&C made me love the Soviets, or at least the military.
I think we have a winner right here! I would be so proud if I were a Soviet.

I think this is good enough. This is if we want to be silly and show how awesome we are.
if we come with aggression,

and for why not,

For the New Lunar Republic, by Not A Clever Pony. Nice and stirring, not boring like just about every national anthem ever. I can just see our troops marching briskly to this, jackboots gleaming in the sun, as they demonstrate to troublesome natives everywhere that we will take unobtainium wherever it can be found. :D

This. This. This above all. I would proudly sing this as Earth's official anthem.

Any fan of Homestuck literally can not disagree with this. It is an absolutely brilliant song and I can imagine people actually marching to it.

Our new alien overlords would surely be pleased.

Quite fitting in all senses (well atleast for those familiar with Homestuck and the relevence of the music). But alas I must disagree that even as a fan I have my own Non-Homestuck song preference.

My personal choices:

Eleanor Rigby (Drum Cover) - By: Walk Off The Earth

(Beatles Classic wime epic drum cover by Walk Off The Earth, band name alone would net us some intergalactic cred with aliens)

Dimitriov

The end is nigh.

As beautiful as this song is, you do know that the lyrics are a Swahili translation of The Lord?s Prayer, right?

I don't think that the Anthem for our entire world could be religious, or indeed in any one language.

As someone who would sincerely like to see a true united Earth some day I hope that there will some day be such an anthem, but it would have to be relatively simple and universal to translate well into numerous languages. Or more likely it would not be a lyrical song.

+7 billion!

Baba Yetu hands down!

Here is one with a translation of the lyrics, and I personally think a better version (mixing) of the song:

May as well be honest about what they're going to find here.

Just seems fitting to me.
Not sure about the song, but this is by far one of the best videos I have ever seen on the internet, if someone asked me to put together a 5 minute video to show off Earth and her people I would direct them to this video.

Any alien who listens to this will know what they're in for if they decide to piss us off. Or, god help them, invade our planet.

Yes, I know, and I stand by my choice. I will admit that I am a Christian, so the lyrics are not an issue for me. I could argue that the general message of the song is also applicable to all belief systems, but I don't feel like debating the issue. I said that I would sincerely sing that as an anthem for Earth and I mean it. That's all it amounts to.

I'd imagine we'd have to do something which either has translations into every major langauge, such as The Internationale, or an instrumental.

Ode to Joy, the current anthem of the European Union, isn't terrible in terms of transnational themes.

The finale of the 1812 Overture might be rather more honest, though, even if it sounds triumphant, in terms of our history of conflict, even if we're standing united before our first extraterrestrial contact.
